Burgers are good, the end result was … it wasn’t that much different than any other chain. On the plus side, the hamburgers are hand formed, and it wasn’t sitting under a heat lamp all morning. The french fries were great, fresh, crisp, no meat flavor additives, no cornstarch dust for that crispy coating found on the major chains…

For the price, it’s really good. With Burgers starting at $ 5-$ 6, the quality is definitely worth what you pay. No complaints here.

I’ve had good food here but not this time, every single item I received was burnt to a crisp, not sure how they even served me that with a straight face, unbelievable. The waitresses were super sweet and replaced it right away was the only plus.

Really friendly staff! I had the turkey burger and my boyfriend had the bacon cheeseburger. Both were amazing. I have been to kahuna a few times and have always had a good experience. I would recommend it to anyone.

Great place to grab a burger or one of their other offerings. I also recommend their tasty shakes. I think the pricing is competitive as you can get out of there with a full meal(burgers, fries, drink) AND a side for under $ 10. The condiment bar is to die for: Ketchup, deli mustard, teriyaki sauce, bbq sauce, pickles, chili peppers(2KINDS!). Also, I love the whole Hawaiian atmosphere. There are surf videos playing all the time, there are old surf movie poster. Tip: ask for the bathroom key because it’s locked by default.

Ew. So my fiancé and I were visiting SB we Walked down state street hoping to find a good place for lunch. Me being pregnant its hard to find food that doesn’t make my stomach turn. The smell of this place was very appealing as well as it wasn’t a ghost town which is always a good sign. we ordered our meal. I got an S.B. burger my fiancé got a grilled cheese and big hot dog. only took about 7 min to come out which was nice. My fiancé’s big dog which cost $ 4 was the size of a normal hot dog the actual dog was slightly bigger but not by much. and lightly sprinkled with onions. His«grilled» was toasted bread with to slices of cold cheese… not even melted. My burger was quite good the only problem i had was you have to buy the fries and drink separate so it came out to around ten dollars and was not worth it. Halfway through the meal my fiancé spots a HUGE spider crawling right next to my head on the particle board they have glued to the walls. You’d think with their expensive prices they’d have at least better décor if the portions aren’t big. Food I give a 1. Décor I give a 1. the only positive was the friendly server who smiled and was always asking us how we were(not the girl who rang us up she had a lot of unnecessary attitude) we will not be back

We stopped here for a quick bite to eat on a Saturday night. We ordered: Teriyaki steak dinner with Caesar side salad and sticky white rice. The steak was difficult to cut and was very tough. The rice was mushy and was the equivalent to minute rice. The Caesar dressing was like a ranch and tarter sauce mixed together and was actually good. Teriyaki chicken k-bob with white sticky rice and veggies and pineapple. The chicken was dry and tasteless, barely any veggies that were extremely dried out… Almost burnt. The rice was the same as above. The only thing good was the Martinelli’s apple juice and the dressing. The family next to us wasn’t very impressed as the three kids and dad didn’t finish their food and actually ended up splitting fries.

My daughters and I were told by Dan at Castillo Inn about the burgers here. I had a small Cesar salad with grilled chicken and my girls both had kids hamburgers which came with fries and drink. The waitstaff is super friendly and atmosphere was very beachy! The food was outstanding the best Caesar salad I have ever had! Will definitely be back! Mahalo!

Good food & beyond great service… We both had the teriyaki chicken sandwiches. I had sweet potato fries & hubby had the regular fries. I was really impressed with the service. I wish I had the girls name who served us. What a sweetie.

This place was okay… So, my co-worker and I came around 8:00 pm and there was relatively no wait. So it was nice to be able to just go in and get some food fast, not only that, but the service was pretty decent. I told my cashier I was trying to watch my diet so she was kind enough to try and help me make my burger…“cleaner.” So for service,(+1 star).(Would have given two if they had nutritional guide, but yeah… those are rare). The food… was okay. I got a turkey burger and sweet potato fries… Nothing special, actually at all. Maybe I should have gotten a «specialty» burger, maybe that would have left a bigger impact on me. But either way, the turkey burger was okay… felt like it was just a Costco frozen turkey patty on a bed of iceberg lettuce… and the price was pretty steep, it was about 8 dollars. The sweet potato fries were generous, cost about 3 bucks. There were a lot… (So…for food… +1 star!) It was a decent place to go to, my friend and I were starving. Do I regret going here? No. Will I come back? Probably not… It’s an okay burger at a price I don’t think I am incredibly happy with(but I’m not angry about it either). All in all, it’s a place to go when hungry, but I wouldn’t make an extra trip or go out of my way… There are definitely other amazing places on State Street…

First off the décor is very nice and simple. The Hawaiian seen has always been a mood pleaser for me. As I searched for a craving a burger was calling my name. I scrolled down the menu with hunger and found the«primo burger». Lettuce, tomatoes, onion rings topped with their signature bbq sauce, and I added pickles for my personal tasting and boy it was good… So much flavor and folks, this burger is how a burger is supposed to taste. I gave the chefs and hostess a thumbs up. Also, their fries… Seasoned and tasty! I recommend to all to have a luncheon there… Good job Kahuna Grill… You’ll see more of me and my hunger… RF

Great service from a guy who I think is one of the managers there. Try the SB burger! I will say it again, try the SB burger! It has avocado and pepper jack cheese. Amazing. I dont really see how that relates to SB, but who cares! Their shakes are amazing too! It takes a while to get your food, but it’s well worth the wait and the price. If you work in the mall, ask for your mall discount! Always a positive experience!

When we first visited this place, we loved it! Good burgers, good fries and GOOOD milkshakes. But with subsequent visits, the place has gone downhill. The beef doesn’t taste as fresh as it use to, the fries aren’t as crisp… and I don’t know about the shakes… didn’t order one on the last visit. Key words: last visit. The place a ‘nice’ Hawaiian surfer theme going with tvs showing an endless loop of surf competitions and documentaries, but that’s about it.

We stopped here as we were heading down to San Diego from SLO because we were wandering around State Street. Good prices and quick service! The burgers are good and their fries are really crispy. Not super special but the food is good! If I were in SB again I probably wouldn’t seek out to come here, but not bad by any means! The sweet potato fries are good! Very crispy mmmm

Great burger joint if you’re shopping at Paseo Nuevo. I love the steak and chicken teriyaki plates. You get white rice, a garden salad, and steak or chicken for just under $ 10. I would go as far as to say this meal is just as good if not better than a steakhouse dinner in Santa Barbara. You must try the handmade shakes! My favorite is the strawberry.

Great place for a cheap lunch on state street in the Paseo Nuevo plaza. I came here with my brother since we were hungry from shopping. For a cheeseburger combo(cheeseburger + fries + drink), a wipe out(chili on fries + onion rings with cheese and bacon pieces on top) and a another drink was ~$ 16. The food took a while but probably because they were still cooking the wipe out. My brother also didn’t get a lot of fries in his meal(which he loves French fries) but overall, I give them 4⁄5 stars because of their friendly staff and great quality meal. This restaurant is also one of those where you clean up yourselves by throwing out the trash/leftovers on your plates and returning the plates in a bin. Don’t wanna throw their wooden plates out!

Sweet potatoes fries were crispy, hot and delicious. Yum! The rest was rather forgettable. I ordered the Maui Burger, which came with sauteed mushrooms and jack cheese. It was ok. The burger was a good portion, but the bun should have been a bit more toasted. Nothing special. My friend ordered the fish sandwich, and I wish I had gotten that. She said it was pretty good. I liked that the fish was a grilled fillet, and it was a good portion too. It looked really healthy. Service was a bit lacking. Messed up on my order twice. I had asked for sweet potato fries, and the first time they came, the plate had regular fries. I told them what I had ordered, and they took the plate back. Then they came back a second time(different waitress) and they gave me the same plate with regular fries. Ummm… ok… The third times the charm though, and they came back with the sweet potato fries but had left onions in my burger. Turns out they had served my burger to my friend at the table who ordered the same burger but with regular fries. Either way, we were still missing an order of sweet potato fries. Looking back, I felt like I worked hard trying to get those sweet potato fries on my plate. I’m glad they were well worth it! :P
