It might seem crazy for a college student to invest 40 bucks on a hair cut, but IT WAS TOTALLY WORTH IT! I had an appointment with Hayley, and she did exactly what I asked for.
She cut my hair from my lower back to right under my shoulders, and she did an exceptional job with it. She’s also a lot of fun and really nice to talk to.
I wake up happy with my hair everyday now!

After being stood up for a consultation by a hair salon at La Cumbre, I walked in to Salon Patine to see if they could help me out. They were very busy but somehow managed to do my consultation since I was already there! I was happy with the result of my consultation and decided to come back in that week to get my hair colored! At first, I wanted to go blonde, but ended up going darker. I am more than satisfied with the work Hannah did! She convinced me to «start over» and go dark after having about 3 layers of box dye in my hair. So happy with the color correction! It is so much healthier and I absolutely love it! She’s very friendly and staff is WONDERFUL! I can’t wait to go back and get some highlights and eventually go back to start my blonde progress!

This is my go-​to place in Santa Barbara. Martha does a really good job, and her haircut prices are very reasonable. Front desk service is always really nice and approachable. I wish they did something for loyal customers!

The only person in the world I will let touch my hair is Elysee. If you are a blonde and don’t want to look like you got your hair color from a box, she is your girl. She spends so much time perfecting her art, and it comes out exactly how I want it every time. She puts the tiniest highlights, multiple colors, and an incredible number of foils so when your hair grows out, there’s never that harsh line that demarcates when you last had your hair done. It grows out so naturally, exactly how blonde hair would grow out during winter months. My natural hair is a medium-​dark ash color and with Elysee’s work you would never know.
I have been going to her for 4 years. I’ve lived in SB, San Luis Obispo and SF during that time and nowhere have I found someone who even comes close to her talent. I travel back to her and if she ever leaves I’ll have to follow her there too!

If you want your hair done the way you want then you need to go to Salon Patine. Their team of hairdressers listen to what you want and do their best to give it to you.
If you have curly hair then the girl you want is Marisol Gomez. I have been a skeptic when it comes to stylists cutting my hair. I have naturally curly hair and have had more bad hair cuts than good ones. When I was referred to Marisol I had the same feel in the pit of my stomach. But she listened to my concerns and asked questions for clarification and delivered a Great Haircut. I loved the way my hair laid. She gave it a shape without cutting too much off. The style that is easy to work with whether I wore it up or down. I thought anyone could get lucky once but when I needed another trim I made an appointment with her and BAM again she delivered. I love my hair cut!
I would highly recommend her to anyone who has curly hair or has a bad experience in the past. Go ahead and make an appointment with her. You will be glad you did.
If you want a great color then your man is Chaz Hoffman. I went to him on the recommendation from a friend and got a color that is amazing. He suggested I get some high lights and low lights which added a depth to my hair I had not experienced before. And the color is so close to mine you cant tell I get my hair done. I have gone back to him numerous times and he always delivers.
Chaz is a seasoned professional. He has been coloring hair for over 6 years and travels all over California as a Redken Color Specialist training stylists with Redken products. He will listen to what you want and will give honest feed back. And if you’re not satisfied, which you wont be, but if it happens he will redo your color. He really is an amazing colorist that I would recommend to anyone. There is no fear when I recommend him to my friends, I know they will be happy.

Last August, I chose this salon for a last-​minute color & cut since it got such positive reviews by fellow Unilocalers, but ended up with a terrible experience. My usual hairstylist was out on maternity leave and I had a wedding to go to the next day, so I was desperate to do something about my super-​grown out ombré highlights and overgrown hair.
The receptionist said that Marina was available for an immediate walk-​in appointment and assured me I was in good hands. I ended up with the worst hack job of a haircut ever… it was so bad that she immediately offered a re-​do and a complimentary hot oil treatment. The color of the highlights came out good, but the (lack of) blending was really bad (not to mention she started the color at shoulder length, where it had grown out from 6 months ago!). You could see clearly see the distinct line where the «ombré» began instead of a gradual transition of color that the ombré look is supposed to accomplish. She tried to argue that it looked beautiful, but agreed to blend in a few highlights to reduce the harsh contrast. The attached picture shows the end result after she «fixed» it. At this point the salon had closed, so I agreed to come back on another date.
The follow-​up appointment was a joke. Marina was out of town for a week and a half, and then called me to cancel my Saturday appointment, saying that «free services» were not offered on weekends. Um, I paid $ 240 for a cut & color that she messed up on… how is this a «free service» again?! She argued that since she only touched up the ends, it would’ve cost more to start the color transition higher, yet did not mention any of this during my original visit. Had she asked, «Hey do you want to save half price for me to only highlight half your hair?» I guarantee my answer would be a resounding NO. She eventually cited a difference of a style aesthetic (no kidding), and gave me $ 40 back for my hack job haircut, but kept the $ 160 + $ 40 tip for the «beautiful» ombré highlights. I really, really wanted to like this salon, but I would advise you to stay clear of Marina and her terrible service.

Two Words: Mindblowing experience
I have not been to a hair salon since I was 11. The last time I went to one was a place in Beverly Hills and the hair «artist» gave me a mullet. I was very traumatized!
I decided to go to Salon Patine after doing research on hair salons in Montecito and Santa Barbara. Salon Patine seemed to have satisfied customers.
My hair colorist and stylist was Chaz. He was very professional and accommodated to my needs. I decided the balayage technique would be best suitable for me because I wanted a hair color that was low maintenance.
I was not expecting to get a hair cut because I really liked my long hair. He recommended it because my hair was damaged with LOTS of split ends. He introduced me to Blair. She was very friendly and warm. She gave me suggestions on how short to cut my hair which turned out to be about 8 – 10 inches ;O It turned out so beautiful, she is a hair artist!
I mentioned to Chaz and Blair that Salon Patine appeared to be a great place to work at because all the workers seemed happy. I met the one of the owners of Salon Patine and she had an extremely upbeat attitude. She cares for her employees, her customers, and her extraordinary salon.
I highly recommend Salon Patine.

I cannot say enough positive things about this salon! Danica is phenomenal with blondes and i’m sure much more. Viewing other work of other stylist, I haven’t seen anything bad. No matter who you see, i’m sure you will have a good result. Very friendly atmosphere and exceptional service. Danica is certainly a color specialist and I am thankful I have found her.
