I came across this store on Groupon and purchased a $ 20 for $ 30 deal. I really need Joico K-​pak reconstructor, and luckily, they had it! However, for 8 ounces, they charged $ 33 + tax whereas everywhere else only charges $ 15-​$ 20 for the exact same product and size. They have an okay selection, but their prices are significantly marked up and this is not okay. Generally, businesses are on Groupon when sales are slow. If this store wants to improve, they need to charge a fair amount for a product. If you’re going to shop here, buy the Groupon.
Sales associate– when I asked for a hair reconstructor, she led me to a hair masque. Completely different and she should know her products.
Pro: Great location, store seemed clean.

Friendly staff. But inconsiderate. ade 6pm appt got there at 6:10pm. Stylist had gone home because her last appt before me was so long. No call. Zero!!!

#PlanetBeauty: I’m in a bit of a rush and enter this store looking for sulphate-​free shampoo for my colored hair. My hair salon only carries the $ 50/​bottle kind-​too much for soap in my opinion and figure P. Beauty will offer a range. The store is empty when I enter. I tell the sales woman what I’m looking for and she leads me to the expensive products. «No, I’d like a less expen – » but the phone rings. She answers it without saying anything to me like «Excuse me for one moment…» I hear her chatting about what’s up later this evening, obviously talking to a friend while I’m standing there waiting for direction. She hangs up & I ask her to point me to some less expensive shampoos. Then a lady walks in. She turns from me to her without saying «Excuse me…» and starts talking. Evidently, the lady wanted to make a hair appt, not with her, but she pulls out the book and they begin chatting about best days to come in, etc.
You know the end of this story: I left.
Can’t give this retail store any stars. They may indeed have great products but I wouldn’t know because the sales help didn’t want to help me find them.

I have never felt comfortable walking in here. The women at the counter (various different ones through the years) have never asked if I needed help and have completely ignored me. I notice that they always attend to white customers. Is it possible that they discriminate against me for not being white? Maybe they think I don’t have enough money to purchase the products? I’ve always wanted to buy something here but I always end up buying the items somewhere else just because I feel so alienated when I walk in this store.

In-​store prices are MORE EXPENSIVE than what is listed on their website! Seems like a scam to me.

I love this store — one of the few in SB where you are always greeted with a smile, a positive attitude, and genuine interest in helping you. «KIRAMA22» (the cashier’s name on my receipt — sorry, I forget your real name!) was fabulous and suggested products that truly were better than what I usually buy. With their generous discount and/​or online coupons, these higher priced products (Purology, for the record :-) were reasonably priced. My hair IS shinier, fuller and softer, as promised. Money well spent! She even instructed me to use a tiny amount because they are so concentrated — I had my doubts, but she was right, so they will definitely last longer.
It is refreshing to shop in a Santa Barbara store where you are not ignored because you are no longer 20-​something! Keep up the good work, Planet Beauty staff — we appreciate you.

I love planet beauty because it has everything a girl could want. Beauty products from nail polish to shampoo to makeup… and the girls that work there are super friendly, which is pretty rare for Santa Barbara (I don’t know what that lady below me is talking about). They always carry my favorites and if they don’t have it, they order it for me and I can pick it up a week later! Now THAT is great service. Plus the 20% locals discount is a nice touch. keep up the good work ladies! :)

I am giving this store 3 stars for it’s selection… and their 20% off locals discount. What I didn’t like was the sales clerk who helped me last night. She got a little b! tchy, which I’ve become to expect from Santa Barbara sales girls.
Caution: My receipt showed higher prices than what the items were marked. For example, my Bumble & Bumble Ocean Spray and spray de mode were a dollar or two more on the receipt… weird. Keep an eye out for that. They also don’t allow returns, only exchanges as well.
Also, to the other poster who said they have good prices– who are you kidding?! I logged onto the Bumble & Bumble website, and their products were much cheaper online. For example, $ 25 for the hairspray online versus $ 30 instore (and it was tagged at $ 28 btw).
So pick and choose – carefully– what you buy here. I wish they would let me return items, with a credit back to my card. I would much rather buy stuff online at a cheaper price, then buy it at a higher price here on store.
About the 20% discount– it only applies to certain brands. You cannot use it for T3, B&B, etc… It did work for my *SexyHair products, which was good.
Shop here with caution.

Love the store, great selection, not over priced. Kristin is my hair stylist (cut and highlights) and I’ve been loyal there for about two years. She cuts my boyfriends hair too! Always pleasant, great environment, Kristin is a great stylist!

I am obsessed with Planet Beauty for the following reasons:
The girls are extremely knowledgeable and well versed in the hundreds of beauty products sold in the store.
They will literally drive to a customers home if they customer can’t physically come to the store.
They are always smiling and ready to help you out.
If they are with a customer they won’t forget about you, and will stand with you for as long as it takes for you to find something you like.
The bare minerals selection is huge!
Leeya will do anyone’s makeup, spending time making sure the customer is happy with it, at no charge!
When you walk in, the atmosphere is extremely welcoming.
I LOVE this store, I come in all the time and the girls always remember me!
