Kimberly’s Wigs and Salon

I stopped into Kimberly’s with my mom a few days before my wedding. After completing my hair and make-​up trial with my stylist a few weeks earlier, I selected a side-​swept partial updo and we decided that a bit more fullness with clip-​in extensions would help complete my look.
Though both of the women working at Kimberly’s when we arrived were busy styling wigs at the front of the store, my mom and I were greeted almost immediately and the younger woman (Sunny, presumably) stopped what she was doing to come over and help us. Without much explanation at all, she seemed to know exactly what I needed and pulled a high-​quality piece that matched my color almost exactly. When the price rang up at almost twice my budget, she patiently offered us other selections, pointed out the variations in quality, and laid them out so we could touch and compare each one.
I ultimately selected a slightly shorter version of the first piece that was pulled. The price was still higher than I would have liked, but Sunny added in a 10% discount and I felt it would be worthwhile for the quality. It was. The clip-​in pieces were easily styled and looked so beautiful in my hair on my wedding day that I left them in for several days after.
Overall, I found the staff at Kimberly’s to be friendly and knowledgeable. I don’t know much about hair and wigs, but I imagine it would be hard to find a higher quality product in Santa Barbara.

I have been to Kimberly’s Wigs twice, now– once for Halloween last year and this time again for a different (and yet again, challenging) costume. Sunny has helped me both time (as well as Kimberly last year). I ENJOY coming to them! I was not there because I had to have a wig for any other reason but to ‘dress-​up’, but each time, I was hoping for a certain look. And each time, they went out of their way to make sure I was happy with my wig. This meant CUTTING, STYLNG and CONSULTING for all of them. Mind you, I am coming during Halloween (and very last-​minute, too). Sunny has managed to get my wigs finished in time without ANY attitude, and remembers who I am from a year ago. She has a kind heart and cares about people. Coming from a very extensive background in the retail and beauty industry myself, I know when someone goes out of their way (even under pressure), or when someone just does not have a clue (or does not care) how to treat others or to run a business. This is NOT the case at this place, at all. I know (maybe from experience and knowledge from waiting on others) that ALL of us are only human and if you have not been in this business, you may not realize as much, how important a fact this is. Do onto others as you would expect they should do unto you. Please keep this in mind. Thank you Kimberly’s Wigs, for your patience and hard work!

It seems like they are more interested in your money. It was my first time trying to invest in a good wig. Ended up giving away $ 500.00 and asked for the money back. The lady just kept refusing to return it. I would never go back, and do not recommend this place to anyone. I should have invested my money in a more secure shop.

HORRIBLE customer service, rude and not helpful. Make you feel stupid.
Went in looking for hair extensions. I had been comparing different brands online and wanted to get a feel for what the hair actually looks like and to see if I could just purchase what i wanted there. The younger woman who was trying to help me was rude and not so helpful. I could see huge boxes behind the counter with hair extensions ranging in price, color and length. Not once did she offer to look through these boxes to help me find what I was looking for. Rather she pulled out the most expensive brand. When I questioned the price (it was marked double for what i found online) I was told «why don’t you purchase online then». I was so taken back all I could do was laugh. I then tried to shrug it off and be polite and explain further that I was only comparing and wanted to make sure If I did order online I would be getting the SAME hair as what I was able to check out. When I asked WHERE they order their hair and if I could get the name of the brand of hair they could not answer me and kept giving vague answers that they order it from NYC from a «whole-​seller».
