Great service and products are the best. I have tried most every shampoo and lotion for my dry skin and invati products and the hand relief are the best! The dry remedy and smooth infusion are great too!

I recently moved to the area and went to an Aveda salon to have my hair colored. Since my stylist told me that my hair color would be guaranteed only if I used Aveda products, I decided to visit their local retail store and peruse my options. When I walked in, I was warmly greeted by a salesperson(I think she was the manager), who offered me delicious tea and asked if I needed help with anything. She pointed out a shampoo & conditioner for my hair type, but I wasn’t crazy about the smell of one of them. Luckily, she uses the same products and offered me a solution: swap one line for the other, so the smell I preferred was the lasting one(the conditioner). Sounds like a little problem, but I’m very sensitive to smells(especially essential oils) and I was very happy with her suggestion. I can honestly say that my hair has never held its color so well. I also signed up for the Aveda Pure Privilege program, which was definitely worth it. Although there’s a nominal initial fee(which made me hesitant), it’s a lifetime membership and they double your purchase points every so often. I’ve since bought a box of their tea and am close to redeeming a reward already! You can save up points for products, spa treatments, etc. I really like visiting this store — the staff is friendly, knowledgeable, helpful, and — best of all — not pushy!

Until recently, I considered Aveda to be like any other popular brand of hair products. High end, expensive, the stuff your stylist pressures you to buy after a haircut. I’d gotten the Shampure, looong time ago, and it was okay but I was also okay with the regular stuff at drug stores. And I’d popped my head into this shop a couple times before, just to poke around and see what was available. When they started approaching me with the tea, I’d decline it and scoot on out, figuring they were about to start in on the sale pitch that I feared would involve getting a nail buffed and then being pushed towards the most ridiculously expensive stuff and suddenly my credit card would be maxed out and I’ve signed up to be a scientologist. And that, my friends, is the slippery slope that turns people like me into internet shoppers. BUT…it was my patriotic duty as an American to stimulate my economic zones, so I knew the time had come to do a little frivolous spending. Imagine my surprise when I’m browsing the website and I see that Aveda has gotten a solid A grade for their social and environmental responsibility in the hair care category AND are in the top 10 best companies overall. Hello! Now I’m very intrigued and further motivated to spend my stimulating dollars on this company. I went into the shop today came away darn impressed with the service and information there. Yes, there’s a cup of tea which I accepted this time. Mmm, licorice root. Maybe I was in a good mood, but I even gushed at how yummy it was, practically yelling it at the woman across the store who was setting the serving tray back at the counter. She sits me down, asks questions about what I consider a priority with my hair care and from that makes some recommendations, and she emphasizes that this is not a pressure to sell anything. I took half her suggestions, passed on the others and she gave me samples of the ones I didn’t select. She also offered a simple neck and head massage, but being all sweaty and grody feeling, I passed that by. There’s just no way I can take all her help and go buy the stuff online, there was such value added to the shopping experience there. The woman who helped didn’t exactly appear as a certified cosmetologist, but she was knowledgeable on the products and really friendly and professional. This is the kind of marketing and upsell I can appreciate. If you want yummy hair and you want to support a company that supports being organic, being green and being safe to the environment, here it is, all in one tidy package.(and responsibly packaged, too.)
