Pizza was delicious, but service was terrible. If you have to apologize every time you talk to a customer, you are not doing your job right. We counted 4 sorries in the span of 10 minutes, and none were directed to us. The waitress never came to our table after taking our order. Never paid attention to our empty cups — even when we put the cups to the edge of our tables for her to clearly see. Glad that there’s a worker who specifically brings out the pizza, otherwise we would have left.

Great pizza and salad! We had just finished our hike at Mt. Diablo were hungry and this place came up first on our phone when looking for restaurants.

Love Zachary;s — always have and always will. Starting gogin to the College Avenue location in high school and still love every bit of it. Don’t really care about the service because the pizza makes up for any small difficulties. I would call ahead to order so you don’t have to wait for 45 minutes once you get there.

Deep dish deliciousness. We had the Danville Zachary’s pizza, but all locations are great quality and just really good, good quality, flavorful pizza. Not sure how much more there is to elaborate but you will not be disappointed!

I know everyone else LOVES their pizza, and perhaps it’s because I’m a NY Pizza kind of girl, but Zachary’s is OK… the food is good, better for takeout… and best(IMO) as the take & bake variety where you finish baking at home. The food is good, but if I have a choice of a Zachary’s and a NY style for even the same hefty price… i’d be all over NY style. It’s good, but I think the crust could be a little more flavorful.

I love Zachary’s!!! I was first introduced to the Oakland location almost 10 years ago from a friend that went to Cal Berkeley. So whenever I need to be in Northern California, I would make it a point to go to Zachary’s. Whenever I go, I always call in about 30 minutes before my arrival so right when I arrive, my pizza is ready for me. I always get a small, well done, pepperoni and mushroom deep dish pizza. I love the gooey cheese and the tomatoes makes my pizza so juicy and flavorful. I’ve never been to this location before so it’s in a really cute strip mall. The restaurant was clean and bright with lots of seating area and really nice attentive servers. I need to plan my next Northern California trip just so I can go to Zachary’s.

I’m sorry, but this pizza was NOT good. I came in straight after a 5 n a half hour drive from L. A… Needless to say, I was HUNGRY! Ordered a cheese pizza slice. They wrapped it in foil to go and I decided to eat it there. Took a bite and it was room temp(((blahhhhhh))) Cheese had gotten rubbery, middle was soggy and bottom was hard =-O. Yo! How long was this slice sitting in that pizza warmer b4 you guys served it up to me??? So I take it over to the cashier and ask him if I can get a hot slice and he says he’d warm up the last old lonely slice of pizza sitting in the warmer, give me a pizza coupon or make a fresh pizza but that would take 15 min(which he didnt seem very excited to do). I said I didn’t live here and wasn’t interested in waiting another 15 for my slice((the flavor wasn’t that great cold and I was slightly appalled that they’d served me cold pizza in the first place)). So he issued me a refund. I’m very interested in trying Chicago style pizza but… No Sir, I Won’t be back to this location again.

Definitely not my style of pizza, but obviously a lot of other people like it. It is basically tomato soup in a deep dish crust. Eating Zachary’s pizza is just like opening and eating spaghetti sauce right from the jar. No thanks! The best type of pizza has minimal sauce and a decent amount of cheese either NY Style pizza with Linguica OR Mountain Mikes linguica. I want pizza, NOTTOMATOPASTE! C’mon really? Pizza you eat with a knife and fork?

work right down the street, so this is the perfect location when looking for a quick lunch. they have slices ready to go during lunch hours, and if you call ahead of time, they will prepare your chicago deep dish in about 20 – 30 minutes to eat there or take out. i love their thin crust italian sausage!!!

Great pizza with some of the best tomato sauce from a pizza joint that I have ever had. Several selections of specialty pizzas or you can build your own, you can even get a half and half pizza. Because they make al of their pizzas fresh and many of them are deep dish it is a good idea to call you order in a head of time because they can take 30 minutes to bake. If you want to stop in for lunch or are short on time calling in your order is the best bet. You can also order half baked pies to take home then finish baking. Personally I think they are way better than Papa Murphys, I would highly recommend. They have fun artwork on the walls from their art competition which they have every two years. It has been going on since the 80s and they have a fun and funky collection of art.

Zachary’s deep dish pizza is one of the best Chicago style pizza’s in the Bay Area, and we are fortunate to have a Zachary’s location close by in San Ramon. But ever since we’ve had kids, my wife and I have to plan our Zachary’s outing carefully. Here are some of our hard-learned tips and tricks: (1) Get there early — a little after 5 pm works well — you can get parking out front and be seated right away. (2) Sit near a window if possible. It entertains the little minions who rule our world. (3) Order the kiddie food right away. Done is better than perfect, so order something — ANYTHING — because you know it’s going to take a while and they’ll get cranky waiting for the food. Then order the adult food — we usually get deep dish — half and half. (4) Eat fast — and keep one eye on the little ones. (5) Ask for the check earlier than you need to, as it comes with lollipops and may keep the hounds at bay a little longer, allowing you to enjoy an additional slice or two. And pay at the counters out front vs. waiting for the server to come get your check — that usually takes too long. And finally: (6) Don’t feel bad if you could not get through even one slice of deep dish heaven before your two year-old imploded and you had to clear the premises. Leftover reheated Zachary’s pizza tastes almost as good as the freshly made in-restaurant version. Bön appetit!

God, I love Zachary’s. I grew up getting the best pizzas from their College Ave location, and I’m so psyched to live close enough to run out and grab from San Ramon now! Their pizzas are always loaded with cheese and deep tomatoes, which I love. I’ve also been impressed at their to-go speed and courtesy, and their patio is dog-friendly, which is always a plus.

I had a small thin free range chicken breast, mozzarella and basil pizza. It was yummy and had tons of cheese and fresh tomatoes.

I hate to say it but I think this location has been on a slow downhill slide since it opened. Putting aside the normal Zachary’s things like long lines and waits(that’s just what you expect at a place like Zachary’s) I just keep running into issues that make me question coming back. First off the pizzas just aren’t as good as I get from other Zachary’s locations(like Berkeley). The most recent issue was it came watery. It was like the sauce was watered down or the tomatoes had been scooped out of a can and plopped down without the water being strained off. The most recent one also had lots of differently cut onions so some were hardly cooked and some were well done. Finally the sausage was inconsistent, I had a slice that had sausage in every bite and my wife had one that had almost none. Finally, the service isn’t what I would like. Our last visit was an off time for them. There was no wait, more than half of the tables were empty, and yet our water glasses weren’t regularly checked and refilled. I had to ask for a refill of my drink instead of the server asking even when they did bring water.

I haven’t been to Zachary’s in quite some time. I went to the one in Oakland and it was my first time going to the San Ramon’s location. I have to say, it was just as delicious as I can remembered. The service was great. Our server was very attentive. He already refill our drinks without being asked or completely empty. I think that’s awesome. He even informed us that our pizza would take about 30 mins to bake so we would expected. we got the Zachary’s special added pepperoni and extra cheese on deep dish. Oh boy! it was so good. the filling was perfect!!! i love the sauce. I would get that again or try other ones. will try the thin crust next and compare to the deep dish. stay tune for the update.

So good! One of my favorite local deep dish pizza places outside of Chicago! For Father’s Day, I placed an online order for a small«Carne» deep dish pizza. It was stuffed with Italian sausage, pepperoni, salami, chopped bacon and mozzarella no added mushrooms. They kept the box in a warmer oven so it was still hot even though I picked it up 30 minutes later than planned. The pizza was so good and full of flavor! Loved the layers of delicious toppings. There was plenty of parking in the shopping plaza and the restaurant was very clean. The online ordering process was easy. They do require you to pay for your pie in order to «check out». — that makes sense and avoids them losing money on ordered pizzas that were never picked up. I can’t wait to go back for another one!

Located in a small little strip plaza — this place is decent and good for groups. That have so many options of salads and pizzas. If you’re craving some pizza(they offer stuffed or thin crust pizza), this is your place to go! The stools right by the tables are for your pizzas so they don’t take up room on your table. There’s also plenty of artwork to decorate the space here. Pizzas take about 20 mins to be cooked up, so keep that in mind if you’re planning to come here. The«specials» are good picks for the pizza and you can always order pizzas with«pick your own toppings».

Was playing golf nearby and decided to go to this location as it was convenient and I was worried on a Saturday eve that the wait might be too long in Berkeley. This location is located in a little strip mall but has a nice location with easy access parking. It still has a bit of the same vibe inside as the Berkeley location, but it also has an outdoor patio which is very zen like although located next to the parking area. Although the place was maybe 33% full at 6pm you could tell they were busy with lots of people walking out with take-out. We were told our pizza would take 30 minutes and it only took 20. As I was with my teenage son, we went with the small Carne Special stuffed pizza for $ 22. We also ordered the large Caesar pizza and sodas. I love their Caesar which has a great garlic dressing and if you can get my son to eat a salad, it has to be good. The pizza came with 6 pieces and we could not even finish. We were so full, but that was okay because I got to take home lunch for the next day. I still prefer the spinach and mushroom, but the Carne was definitely very tasty. Of course their crust is what I love most. It is tasty, firm but not chewy or stiff. Service was great as they came to change plates and give us refills the whole time. Did not have to ask for anything as they were attentive. Definitely is the best pizza in the East Bay and definitely rivals any other pizza in the Bay Area. Well worth leaving the City just to have gourmet pizza.

Awesome! My first time and I loved it! The inside is cute and the staff is wonderfully nice throughout your entire visit. If you want deep dish it’s a little longer of a wait but well worth it; the barbecue chicken stuffed pizza was amazing and super filling! The prices are a little steep for what you’re use to but they make up for it in their food! My only complaints are that I wish the crust was thicker and that the lady at the table next to me wasn’t such a loud mouthed B, lol. Sorry!
