This place is great! I love how big the portions are. I usually get the Loco Moco but I have tried all the other things available. The healthy bbq chicken is pretty good, so is the Hawaiian and Chinese combo. The sesame chicken isnt my cup of tea but that could just be me. Sauce is weird. I like the lemon chicken and my wife LOVES the shrimp with lobster sauce. For the price, you cannot go wrong. Food is fast and fresh to order! Some advice if planning on going during lunch hours, order on the phone ahead of time. It gets busy! I usually order on the way and eat there to save time. There are only 2 places now that serve«Hawaiian» food that I am aware. This one and Ohana BBQ in Pleasant Hill. Both are amazing!

Love this place. Definitely my go-to place whenever my friends can’t decide where to eat. The food is delicious, the customer service is fine, and the prices aren’t too shabby. There are tons of tables and plenty of room for customers. The location is super convenient, which is also a plus.

Not the worst… Came for dinner. I got the half Hawaiian, half Chinese combo. It was one item of each ethnicity plus a spring roll(they say egg roll), fried or steamed rice, and fountain drink for $ 10.95. It’s a large portion of bland rice, but the fried rice is basically steamed rice with an egg scrambled into it with some peas and green onions. The chicken Katsu had good flavor and crunch, and so did the sweet and sour chicken. The sweet and sour sauce is just a tad too sweet but the bland rice balanced it out. They carry Hawaiian Sun beverages in a refrigerated case, and have fountain drinks. They have a donut style treat called malasadas. It tastes like fried pancake batter sprinkled with sugar. Overall, I’ll be back to try other things.

Not many Hawaiian food places around the area, so I’m glad there’s a good one close by. Setting: Tons of tables to sit at. Great for big parties and hanging out. There are large windows all over one side of the restaurant. However, I came here at 7pm and it was super bright! I had to sit in a table away from the Windows because it was so harsh. Food: Awesome! The menu is pretty extensive, but I always order the chicken katsu, which I split with another person. So much meat, it’s easy to share. Also, they have really good donuts that I’ve only seen in Hawaii! However, the special was 10 donuts for $ 5, and I only got 9 donuts. Not a huge deal, but I would’ve appreciated the extra donut. Aside from that, I will definitely be coming back!

This place is pretty bomb. I’ve come here a couple times and have always enjoyed myself. The food here is pretty affordable and the portions are decent. The building itself is pretty plain. It has several tables with ample seating. It’s never been too busy at any given time. Perhaps a lot of people just get food to go. The staff here as always been friendly and the service is pretty quick considering it’s a hole in the wall. The menu has all the standard Hawaii BBQ dishes– Loco Moco, spare ribs, Masubi, shrimp, and so on. They even have an extensive Chinese food menu(exactly what you would expect, I won’t go into details) and cater food if you’re interested. For $ 6 you can get a Masubi Platter that comes with Spam, Chicken, and Pork Katsu. That’s usually my go-to when I feel like eating«Hawaiian» food. I’ve ordered the Portuguese Sausage, Eggs and Rice before and that was pretty much comfort food in a little box. I’ve had the spare ribs too and they are pretty good, savory, sweet. I’m rather impartial to their macaroni salad, but who cares. I don’t believe San Ramon has too many options when it comes to Hawaii food, but this place definitely does the job. This isn’t like gourmet eating, but I’ve never went into this place with a frown and I always leave with a smile.

Man, it’s damned near impossible to get fantastic Hawaiian BBQ off of the island(s). L&L is just okay. Other L&L knock-offs are just okay. Hula Wok was just okay. Perhaps my bar is set too high. I mean, at the end of the day, it was tasty. Just can’t seem to recapture the raw excellence of legit island grinds.

The Spam and Kim Che Fried rice is good stuff. The Short Rib are ok, nothing special and sometimes on the fatty side, and not in a good way. They should cook it more so the fat is not soggy. The Teriyaki Chicken is good. They use skin on thigh meat but sometimes they don’t cook the skin enough to get it crispy They also use thigh meat for the Katsu chicken, my kids and I are use to breast meat, so we’re not a fan, but the crust is good Mac is not that great, it seems to only be mayo and elbow Mac Also don’t order salad, the dressing are all American, no Asian dressing, very strange. It is better to get steamed vegetables instead of rice and Mac if you’re going lower carb

Literally across the street from where I work. Super fast and super convenient. I usually like BBQ chicken, so the Saimin isn’t bad and neither is the BBQ Chicken Musubi. When you call in the order’s usually ready in 5 minutes. I’ve also gotten the mini pork Kaluha a few times-definitely worth the price. It’s like 5 $ for a good portioned meal that has rice and cabbage, a little on the saltier side but the rice helps diffuse it. I’ll be coming soon to try more things. It also has the generic«Ohana» style canned drinks– I usually go for the iced tea.

I am from Hawaii and I must say Hula Wok did not disappoint. Food(4⁄5) The food did not wow me, but it was great food(to the point where I drove 25 minutes out of my way to get lunch here). I was having mad Hawaiian food cravings and reviews for this place looked good. This place is Cantonese Hawaiian, meaning this individual restaurant has a Cantonese twist to its food. Which is honestly what I love about what makes up Hawaiian food, it is just a fusion of multiple cultural cuisines. They have the typical Hawaiian BBQ stuff such as chicken katsu, bbq plates and spam musubi; while still differentiating themselves by selling some more Chinese inspired dishes and even surprising me with malasadas which I never get outside of Hawaii. The malasadas were just as good as I remembered. They were light, sweet and crispy. Definitely a must order at Hula Wok. I got the BBQ plate without any rice, but a side order of macaroni and boy was it good. The meats were flavorful and tender. Nothing was charred or overcooked and the mac salad was pretty decent! Location & Atmosphere(4⁄5) This place is not somewhere that you would really travel for, but for people who live in the San Ramon area, this place is definitely a go to spot whenever you are craving something cheap and yummy. It is located in a big plaza with lots of other selections and grocery stores, so there is an abundance of parking. What was funny is that they were playing Hawaiian music the whole time we were there which really gave off that small Hawaiian Vibe. Restaurant was clean, as was the bathroom but lighting was dim. Service(5⁄5) People were friendly, the cashier gave recommendations and even brought our food over to our table instead of calling our number and making us pick it up. These small things are nice gestures and really make you feel more welcomes!

I like this place! It’s unique to find a Hawaiian/Chinese fast food place in my area. This restaurant is located next to Chipotle, where there’s plenty of parking available. The food is okay, but the prices are very affordable for the amount & variety of different food items that you can purchase. Their«All Day Hula Special Combination» is a good deal, where it comes with either steamed or fried rice or chow mein or an egg roll; with a fountain soda. The prices for this combo ranges from $ 8.95 — $ 10.95. There is a minimum $ 5 charge if you want to pay with a credit card, which isn’t really an issue since any meal item will be more than $ 5. They also do not accept American Express nor Discover cards. This restaurant also caters their food, so with its theme of serving both Hawaiian & Chinese food, I will cater some food from them the next time I attend a Pot Luck event.

This business is getting better and better! My favorite dish is the barbecue chicken mini. But the best of all is the salmon dish. Absolutely fantastic. The people there are all very friendly. They always say aloha when you first walk in. The food and service is consistently good. What a great place to eat. Highly recommend!

It’s closeby and convenient, and the food is decent — I must give it a 4 stars! I ordered the chicken katsu, bbq chicken and spam kimchi fried rice. I don’t think the food is out of the world or anything, but if I am hungry and I want a decent L&L style food, this would be the place to go. I love that they have brown rice, this is definitely a plus! The kimchi fried rice is pretty good. This is probably going to be my to-go to place for quick Hawaiian style food.

Not bad. I received polite service from the lady running the cash register. The verdict is still out for me as I didn’t really know what to order here.

The food is great but the service is even better! Yes it is semi-fast Hawaiian deep fried soul food. But this is why you come to a place like this. I ordered food from here to cater a party. And they helped me order the right amount of food. And they offered to take an extra step and cut the Spam Musubi so that it would be more bite size! I recommend ordering the Party trays for your party needs. The Short Ribs were delicious!

If you work on the west side of 680, you forgot your lunch, and feel like getting your noodle on, then take a short wok over to the CVS area to this little restaurant.(And after that pathetic pun, will I get a Review Of The Day or will Unilocal close my account against my will? Can I bribe Stephanie Y with a hug?) I, on the other hand, work on the east side of 680, too far for me to wok. But I had to drive to work today, so I drove to pick up some food. Went here. Got a chicken chow mein to go. Add a bottle of Coke and it ended up a few cents over $ 10. I’m still eating it, so this is literally a review in action. «Chicken Chow Mein» is the official title, but I’d rename it «Chow Mein with a medium-sized helping of Chicken». Lots of noodles, enough to smother the chicken. Good if you like noodles, not as good if you like meat, and I’m a meat lover. Still, the noodles are flavorful, and there’s plenty of onion and green pepper too; hot sauce if you want to wok on the wild side. The to-go box is 7″ square, and packed with the meal; this is enough to fill most people. Basically, this food woks. What if I ate in? At first, I was turned off by the place: typical suburban San Ramon restaurant, very clean, little decoration except for large pictures of a Hawaiian beach and Midtown Manhattan(?). Does not really put you into the Aloha spirit. On the other hand, I remember the last meal we had on our honeymoon: a small barbecue place in a small shopping center near the Kahului airport, and it was just as plain as Hula Wok. But I guess, if you’re in Maui, you don’t need to try to have a feel of the Islands, it’s just there. You have to try a little in San Ramon. It does help that one of the cashiers was telling everyone«Aloha, welcome to Hula Wok!» as they woked in. Overall, more Chinese than Hawaiian, but still good enough to fill your gut in the middle of the day. Next time, I’ll need to try the chicken wings, then go to Las Trampas, sit on a wok, and enjoy this tasty meal. That’s the end of my wok jokes, one moment while I give Stephanie a bribery hug. And to Hula Wok: Mahalo!

Since we moved to San Ramon last month I must say I have been to Hula Bbq every week! Over the past Father’s Day weekend we had guest over for a Father’s Day/house warming party and guess what we provided our guest with– yesirreee we ordered Hula Bbq party trays and boy were they a hit! Our guest stuffed their faces until it could be stuffed no more then took a little breather then ate again! Haha. Here is what we ordered for a party of 15 people: 2 medium family meals which each medium order gives you 3 choices of meat, macaroni salad and rice enough to feed 6 people so we initially thought we were only going to have 12 guest but 3 people came through– have no fear there was so much food we had left overs that we ate for another 2 meals. Anyhow, we ordered the bbq chicken, bbq beef, short ribs, chicken Katsura and fried shrimps and it came with a small tray of macaroni salad and small tray of white rice! I was all set– didn’t need to cook a single thing! Anyhow, I can say that I tried everything and it was alllll delicious! My fav spot in town! We also ordered 3 orders of the musubi trio which gave us a total of 9 musubi a. Man those suckers are huge so I cut each into 3 pieces and served it as appetizers! I’m definitely a regular there!

This is a newly discovered favorite for our family. We stumbled into this place while shopping around for furnitures. We’ve been to a similar Hawaiian fast food type of place in San Jose, but this place beats that hands down. We got the following dishes: Crispy chicken cutlet with noodle soup: this dish comes with chicken cutlet with Ramen in chicken broth. The chicken came in thin slices wrapped in a crispy golden batter. It was a perfect combination with the ramen soup. The chicken is served separately as not to lose the crispy texture of the meat. Trio sushi/wrap(sorry, I cannot remember the name of the dish): These are gigantic sushi rolls. Each roll is filled with a big piece of meat: Spam, Pork BBQ, and Chicken BBQ. Our kids loved ‘em. It’s a complete meal on its own. $ 1.99 each, if ordered separately. But the trio comes out a little cheaper. Mix BBQ plate: a blend of Chicken BBQ, Short Rib, and BBQ Beef Steak. The short rib is exceptionally done. It’s tender meat is juicy and easily bitten off the bone. The 3 big meat portions are served on a bed of ehite rice, cabbage and macaroni salad. Very filling and satisfying for the adults and kids. Pork Lau Lau: IT wouldn’t be Hawaiian without this staple dish. Their meat is tender, fragrant and tasty. This os a must have. Overall, this place offers great tasting food, at reasonable(actually cheap!) prices, and completes it with great service.
