If you like ambiance, this place has potential. The lights can be dimmed enough for it to be romantic, but it also has a lodgy vibe. The food was so-so. I ordered the prime-rib, a special«tini» drink, crab cake appetitizer, the special chowder, and for dessert, we split the bread pudding. So why were things so-so? The«tini» was like drinking syrup. The«special Jose’s clam chowder» was bizarre, loaded with tomatos in a runny cream-like soup, and loaded with salt. The crab cakes came 3 to an order, but they were scattered all over the plate, with strange spoonfuls of something reminiscent of mango salsa in between, and dollops of a strange thousand-island/tartary sauce. The prime-rib was not even warm. The asiago cheese potatos were crusty. The bread pudding wasn’t fluffy, but condensed into a rectangular brick, and drenched in one half carmel-like sauce, and the other half, a raspberry like sauce. I use the terms«like» because I still can’t figure out what the sauces were. To cap off the whole experience, fingerprints were evident on every plate and the busboy dropped all the ranch dressing all over the floor and splashed it nearly on me, and didn’t even bat an eye. When asked for the steam veggies to be boxed up, it came back looking like they played football with the box. Sigh! Perhaps I’ve watched a few too many episodes of Gordan Ramsey’s Kitchen Nightmares, but I think he should pay a visit. The basic fundamentals of food presentation, food warmth, cleanliness, etc, could really use some help. The saving grace of the evening was the waitress who was very attentive and friendly. For the price, this place should have done way better, not less than an Outback Steakhouse.

I have dinner here a few times over the years. I like the mood they set when you walk in the door, very cozy, very lakeside cabin in the snow. We had another outstanding meal. Cocktails, appetizer and dessert. it was fabuolus. I highly recommend going to Big Horn. I would suggest that they change up the menu … its kinda getting boring. But besides that I give it big Ups !

The first time I went there I ordered their special Manhattan. The waiter apologized when he brought it saying they were out of the large Martini glasses, so when I finished this he would bring me another — which he did. That was strange because it was served in a standard martini glass, are they normally served in those huge obnoxious sized ones? I’m not complaining, because I got 2 strong drinks for the price of one. Anyway, that time was a 4 star night, but every visit since has been 3 stars at best, last time was 2. Last visit was last week — a snack(scoozi bread and soup) and glass of wine in the bar. Anytime we wanted anything it took numerous minuted to get the bartender’s attention. The wine glasses smelled of cleaning products and the bartender made a big deal of smelling the glasses and rinsing them before pouring us new glasses — and even commented how no-one else complained. Well, sorry for not wanting my wine to smell like bleach, but that RosenBlum Zin that I have had many times has never smelled like that before. It will be a while before I go back.

I was not that impressed. This was for a work luncheon and I understand that it was chosen for group pricing and room size. So may be dining in the regular dining room is better I dont know. My salad was old. The leaves were to the point that they get to when you leave them in the salad bag you bought them in and they start turning to sludge around the edges. I had a few pieces that were getting to that point. I thought at one point some type of worm had made its way to my plate but it was just the slimmy end of a piece of lettuce. My tri tip was raw. I dont mean rare. I mean I was worried about eating it because it was so raw. I could barely cut it because all of the little sinews in the meat were so, I dont know how to say, alive and didnt want to die yet. The person next to me was able to eat around the raw parts but I didnt even get the chance to. I will admit the fries were delicious since thats the only thing that I ate off the plate. But, no they were really good though. It was not an overall good experience and the wait staff was slightly rude. They were prompt with bringing water to the table which is always a must. Overall, I wont be going back unless its another work related event.

This place was a joke! Overpriced food, poor quality, bad service… I understand they may be forced to close soon. It is a great spot. It just needs to be a little more wallet family friendly. Perhaps a traditional grill with burgers, chicken sandwiches, meatloaf or fish & chips dinners would work here. Also more of a sports theme with enough tv’s to watch all the NFL games on Sundays would also liven up this spot. Can someone hear me out there???

I give it a complete 5 for lunch and 4 for dinner. Garlic fries are to die for. Great pulled pork sandwich. Other lunch items equally as good. Went there the other night for dinner with 2 friends. They both had a halibut special with pistachio that was fantastic. I had scallops and loved it. The Caesar salad however was bottled and«eh» The martini was a little skimpy. All in all, still one of my favorites. The restaurant has a very masculine feeling about its décor– heavy dark wood… feels carnivorous. My friend frequently takes Japanese visitors there and they love it!

Best prime rib I’ve ever had is at this restaurant. In fact, my fiancé and I like it so much that we have reserved it for our rehearsal dinner. They have been so helpful throughout the process and have taken us step by step. Customer service is through the roof spectactular, I totally recommend this place to anyone looking for a nice meal.

I have been by this place many times, and really didn’t have much of a desire to go there because there are other good steakhouses closer to livermore where I live. One of the lunch cooks at the restaurant where I work, also works at Bighorn for dinner, so I decided to try it. Highlights of the evening where the grilled shrimp appetizer, the ahi app., and if you like blue cheese the scoozi bread. For dinner, I had the hanger steak, which was great, I love that cut, my complaint was the fiborous nature of the hanger, needs a good sharp knife to cut it, and the steak knife was pretty dull. My friend had the peppered new york, and though it was a bit overcooked, he said it still had great flavor. The side dishes were also great! The asparagus with hollendaise was cooked perfectly, the onion rings where great(if you ate them fast as they sogged out as they sat!), and the asiago potato was good. We did not have dessert as we were so stuffed, but the menu had pretty much the basic steakhouse dessert menu. service was good, everyone was very attentive with refilling the water that we were drinking. I would definitely return if I am in the area and want a good steak!

My bf wanted to try this place out bc we pass it after we eat at Miraku or Café Esin. So I brought him here for his birthday a few years ago. What a disappointment, I don’t remember what cut of steak I ordered but I do remember that is was completely dry and tasteless. My bf ordered his steak medium rare but it came out overcooked as well. This place is pricey too, but the ambience looks similar to Texas Roadhouse bbq and the service was less than mediocre. Don’t waste your money here! You’re better off spending a little more and driving to Walnut Creek for Bing Crosby’s.

Good food, decent wine and a great place for a quiet Sunday dinner. I had the salmon and it was very good. You have got to try to scoozi bread. It’s these little pocket breads filler with cheese and garlic that you stuff with tomatoes and basil. So good! I had the house Cabernet is it was very good. I had a little bit of food from everyone at our table so I can say that the baby back ribs are amazing, the top sirloin it so good with the cheese the put on it and the prime rib is super tender. Our service was fast and friendly. I look forward to dining here again.

Total neighborhood gem! My bf and I came here one Friday, after deciding we had exhausted our list of local, desirable, casual weekend dinner places. There was no wait, but the restaurant was more than half full. There are three dining areas: the bar area, the white table-clothed zone, and in between the two, several smooth wooden booths. There may have even been seating right at the kitchen counter. We sat in a huge booth, with direct view of the kitchen fire pit. I knew we’d be smelling like food at the end of the night(the only downfall really). We started off with some fried calamari, which was a huge portion for two. Bread also filled us up. My bf had it his way with butter, whereas I enjoyed the oil and balsamic which was also provided. I had the special that night of some kind of white fish. It’s sad that I can’t remember what it was exactly, but it was good. So good that I want to come back. And next time I will save room for dessert. Update 5÷26÷08: This places gets downgraded one star for the following reasons — 1) Arrived on Easter to find them closed, after I had a reservation confirmed by Opentable(OT part to blame, but at least they owed up to their mistake.) 2) Came for an early dinner and was told they ran out of ribs, at 5:30 pm! 3) Bananas foster was not good with an awful alcohol flavor, like it wasn’t flambed. And 4) hostess didn’t say hello or good bye, what poor service! Sorry, no longer my neighborhood gem.

A little hidden in the complex it resides in, but visible from the 680 freeway. As soon as you walk in you notice the wood-fired grill and entire kitchen behind a wood counter. The whole place is warm and cozy feeling with a log cabin type of ambiance. Full bar with a great top shelf and friendly bartender. The entire staff was courteous to me and many of the waitresses are very good looking. As for the most important part, THEFOOD, it was AMAZING. The Scoozzi appetizer is a MUST for anyone. I ate the bricked chicken, a very simple dish with chicken breasts on top of garlic mashed potatoes. Delish! My friend had the prime rib and loved it. It was tender, as a prime rib ought to be, and full of flavor. I was tempted to try the ribs as they smoke them in house. Overall, a great place. Need somewhere to take a date? This is the place. Not too pricey and Shbooms is next door for those interested. CHECKITOUT!
