I LIKEIT!!! First of all, there are almost NO steak houses in this area of SLO, Los Osos, Morro, etc. This is the ONLY one I found. I know, there are places like Ciopinot that have good food but cost quite a bit-but this place has a very decent steak at a price in the $ 20s instead of $ 30 plus for the other places. I got the special bone in rib eye at $ 33 and it was very, very good. They actually season their steaks with SALT which makes a big difference-I’m getting sick of paying high prices for a steak only to be disappointed when it is bland because it wasn’t seasoned. But this place does it right! My steak came with a baked potato and a girl brings it to the table with several bowls of butter, sour cream, chives, and bacon(I think) and asks how you like your potato. The steak also came with a salad(you actually have three choices-Cesar, green, or cranberry/cheese/walnuts-which is what I got) The salad was VERYFRESH and properly dressed! My friend got the regular green salad and it looked yummy-he said it was good. The waiter Mathew was funny, smart and nice! The only down side was the drinks-I don’t like mixed drinks unless I make it for myself. My friend got a horrible Maitai-but he should have known better. It was full of disgusting chemical dyes/additives(headache city)-and it was extremely sweet! We like our drinks with natural ingredients(as much as possible), no added coloring etc.-so we had to send it back-But Mathew was very nice and so was the bartender, because they took it back and replaced it with a better choice-AND they remembered to subtract it from our bill. Overall we had a GREATTIME here and we will be back. Oh, by the way its a theme restaurant in that the décor is all about the city Tahoe. Kinda dorky but very, very fun!!! Forgot to mention they cook their aged steaks over ALMONDWOOD. I was happy!

We have eaten at several Tahoe Joe’s and this one was one of the better ones for this chain. The service was a little slow at refilling our drinks. There was a gang of servers by the bar and I walked over for an ice tea refill and they split when they saw me coming. The manager had to ask one lady to stop what she was doing and turn around to ask me what I needed. Our waitress was the best. We ordered three of the desserts and one came with a little ski man on top, she offered the three girls one each of the ski girls, so they were thrilled to have a toy to play with. We ordered the filet and didn’t realize it came wrapped in bacon, which we try to avoid pork but it was still good all the same. The kids ordered the ribs and all three of them loved their ribs. We had plenty of left overs and hope to return time permitting.

Food was very good however, while the staff was friendly enough, SLOWSLOWSLOW was the problem… To much visiting among each other rather then paying attention to the customers… But will probably go back…

In the area with my boyfriend decided to give Tahoe Joes a try, glad we did. I would recommend the frozen wild berry daiquiri so yummy. Our waitress(sorry I forget her name) was wonderful and knowledgable of the menu and gave recommendations. I had the steak sandwich my boyfriend had a hamburger both with a side of fries. the fries are fresh cut some skin still on the potato(doesn’t bother me, I like them that way). we ordered wings for our appetizer they were cooked perfectly not to spicy and not to bland and were huge drumsticks with lots of meat. The steak sandwich was very good. I couldn’t finish even half of my plate so taking it back to the hotel for lunch tomorrow. so if you are in the area and want to try a good steakhouse give Tahoe Joes a try, we are very glad we did.

The stake was cooked properly med well lile i asked. The service was excellent great waiter. My bad experience was the quality of the meat. It was dry and rough but pink. I didnt get that. It did taste amazing just to dry way to dry almost to a sandi texture when you chew it.

Just went to Tahoe Joe’s in San Luis and ordered Ribeye steak. When the steak came it was evident to us that it was not a Ribeye. I informed the manager that this steak was not a Ribeye and he argued with me. I have been barbecuing for a very long time and I know my steaks yet the manager wanted to argue with me. I am very disappointed with the manager on April 2, 2016 at 5 pm. Evidently this person does not know cuts of meat. Anyone that knows steaks knows the difference between a Ribeye and a New York. I told the waitress that I had ordered a Ribeye and what I received was a New York. She agreed with me, however the manager insisted it was a Ribeye. Not because of the waitress but because of the manager at the time I won’t be back. Just spent $ 220 + bucks and I won’t be back. Sorry

A friend recommended Jocko’s but calling at 5 pm for a dinner reservation and being told the earliest we could get on was at 10pm killed it for me. At this point I was craving for steak so I looked for any steakhouses nearby and ended up at Tahoe Joe’s. We were not disappointed. My Rib eye steak was cooked and seasoned perfectly I was in steak heaven! The server was very attentive and just kept refilling our drinks. Too bad there’s no Tahoe Joe’s in the Bay Area or I’d be there every weekend. Lol!

The service was great but the food was average. I got their cheeseburger wrapped in lettuce and the lettuce was soggy, wilted, and brown. My boyfriend got a a steak. It was very flavorful but definitely on the chewy side. All in all, we weren’t very impressed. They do have a great happy hour and that’s usually when we go. The drinks are great and the appetizers are pretty good. Conclusion — after last night’s dinner, we will probably just go for happy hour in the future.

Went back with friends and felt like a good steak. Got the special and had the wrong steak served, overcooked, salty as hell. The shimp were clearly smaller than the picture. 3 of 6 visits now where something is not right with the meat. I overlooked some poor quality previously, always wanting to have a good steakhouse nearby, but the pattern of pricey bad steak is too much to bear! Good service, good salads, good potato’s, good drinks and good décor. I think I’m done with the steaks here, however.

A solid 3. My favorite: the fresh bread, the rice that came with my ribeye and the Raspberry lemon drop(I know, who would’ve thought). I had clam chowder to start and it was good, but after you try Splash Café ‘s, clam chowder has no competition. I got the ribeye and shrimp special mainly for the shimp and rice, and with the intention of having just a few bites of steak, since I’m not a big meat eater, but I break my rules for really good stuff only. This was was worth it. I had like 20% of it a d the rest became my husband’s lunch. Medium rare goodness and a very generous amount(for $ 25). The shrimp was just ok, but the rice was one of the best things I’ve ever eaten, I’m obsessed with rice, so don’t take me to seriously on this one. My husband got the T-bone and to his surprise, it just wasn’t that good, 3 stars he said. We split the cheesecake and it was gloriously heavily and it featured more whipped cream than anyone should eat in a year, the crust was thick and the filing rich and not too sweet. Instead of a second beer, I went for the martini list and got a Raspberry lemon drop: a purple, sugary girly drink that didn’t taste like vodka at all, but delicious, basically candy in a nice glass. Loved it! Overall, I am not the target audience for this restaurant, but it was a lot better than I expected. I would be back if the company pays, but if I’m getting the bill. Better for groups than dates and for families than single people. With so many good restaurants in SLO, this one just doesn’t make the cut for me.

The decorations here are so adorable and I was so impressed when I walked in. When you pull up it doesn’t look like much from the outside. It just looks like any strip mall restaurant. Waking inside you are greeted with teepee lights and wooden ceilings. They have wooden beams and wooden booths. It looks like a place you would find in the mountains. The bar is made with logs and looks super rustic. They have maps and pictures of historical stuff on the walls. The huge moose on the wall was adorable. I was impressed that they have etch a sketch toys for kids to play with. The prices are pretty good and the food was really good. I have the joes steak and it was juicy. They bring out a bar of stuff to make your potato with. You can choose whatever you want and the amount of each item. The server makes it for you.

We stopped in at Tahoe Joe’s San Luis while traveling through. We have been long time Tahoe Joe fans from the days when there was only one, that being the Herndon Avenue spot in Fresno. The chain has not lost it’s ability to produce over and above beef and chicken dishes. We had lunch on this occasion and enjoyed the experience. My wife had a chicken salad and I ordered a bacon cheeseburger. The beef that made up my burger was outstanding. I subbed mashers instead of fries and while it might seem odd to order mashed potatoes with a hamburger I have to say it was pretty good. The chicken in my wife’s salad was exceptional. Kind of a smokey/grilled flavor that Tahoe Joe’s does very well. I dinged a star for the wait for food. Our waiter Chris was polite and attentive as were the buss staff and hostess. Tahoe Joe’s is a permanent fixture on our rotation whenever we are in an area that has one. Maybe one day they’ll open a restaurant on the Monterey Peninsula.

We came in because of a free appetizer coupon. The service was phenomenal. Megan was our server and was just awesome, very kind and helpful. We decided to try the rail camp shrimp appetizer($ 11) and the ribs($ 20) these came with salad, fries and slaw. Our appetizer came out in a timely manner and was accompanied by some rolls. We appreciated that the butter was softened for us. The shrimp was ok the size was a Lil small for sharing, but it was good. The salads were good as well. This is where things went off the rails a little bit for us. The menu says single rack $ 19.99 and a double rack was a bit more. We took this to mean the single was a whole rack. Understandable yes? The menu also says the ribs are wood grilled. no where does it mention black pepper /peppercorn crusting. The ribs arrived and after a little clarification that the single is a half rack and the double is a whole. we settled in to nom. The ribs tasted like peppered jerky. So hot. my mouth waters just thinking about it and not in the good way. These ribs really took away the Mr’s breath. seriously he started coughing. We tried the fries and they tasted just a little off, I’m not sure how… as far as I could tell there was no dressing on my coleslaw. We ended up returning the rib plates as we just couldn’t finish them. Megan was gracious and took them back and adjusted our bill for us. The manager delivered our adjusted bill and we were perfectly happy to pay for the salad and fries. I want to be sure to point out that this wasn’t bad food or bad service. Had we liked spicy food this would have been right up our alley. Our main issue is that it is not noted anywhere on the menu that this is a peppery dish. Perhaps calling the peppercorn crusted ribs or somehow distinguishing them as a bit spicy.

Tahoe Joe’s has one of the best happy hours in SLO. Too many places offer only discounts on drinks, but not food. My go to order: $ 3.99 nachos, $ 5 house wine(their frozen margaritas used to be my favorite, but unfortunately due to food allergies I must avoid all well alcohols now). This last time I decided to get a tito’s martini even though it wasn’t on the happy hour list, at least it was $ 1 off normal pricing. The husband is all about $ 4 tall Coors light, $ 3.99 shrimp and wings. I always leave full, happy, and not horrified when the bill comes. Happy hour 11 – 6 weekdays and all day on Sunday.

We stopped here for a quick lunch on our way up to Northern California. We were looking for a sit down place that was not fast food and this fit the bill. We arrived early in the lunch hour. We did not have to wait more than a few minutes for a table. The restaurant was fairly busy but not too crowded. The hostess was very polite and friendly. The menu is nice and varied. They offer steaks, sandwiches, a pasta dish, burgers, salads, and some nice looking appetizers. We opted for the Peppercorn Bleu burger on which I added bacon(everything is better with bacon) and the Blackwood Canyon Pasta. Both of our dishes were quite good. The burger is big! It was cooked perfectly and I think that the bacon was a nice addition. The portion of pasta is also quite large. It was quite tasty. The service was very good. The waitress was friendly and helpful, offering suggestions on the menu. She kept our drinks filled and checked on us often. The restaurant was clean and well kept. The bathrooms were also clean which is nice when you need to stop before a long drive! There is plenty of parking in the shared lot. There are other stores and restaurants in the area but there is plenty of parking by the restaurant. I would definitely return again when in the area. 32⁄100
