I guess the best way I can describe the food here is compare it to Burger King. When you want a really good burger, you go to In-N-Out(those of you fortunate enough to live near one and not thousands of miles away), Five Guys, or your favorite local restaurant. When you want a quick and inexpensive burger, you get the Whopper or double cheeseburger from Burger King. In like manner, Wienershnitzel seems to be the place for a cheap hot dog when you don’t want to go to a place with really great hot dogs. They are not bad; the chili has a nice flavor, and the fries are hot and decent enough. If I lived near one of these places, I most likely would stop by on occasions. The hot dogs taste like the basic Oscar-Meyer wieners, so you need a good topping to enhance the flavor. But the chili is good, as I mentioned. Service was speedy and friendly — no concerns there.

No vegetarian hot dogs, get with the times.

Hard food establishment to review frankly because nothing about it is necessarily deserving of a 5 or 4 star review. It is strictly hot dogs, fries, and soft serve ice cream and none of these are done particularly well. The corn dogs are tasty but can be oily and the breading is quite thick. The chili seems as though it comes from a can. Jalapeño poppers are decent. Cones are a good deal but the cotton candy dipped cone is unbearably sweet. Prices are cheap which makes it worth it to come back for some drunken munchies(walking distance from home). Somehow drive thru is always slow.

I use to work on the Subase the complex on Harbor drive. I use to have to make a trip to Balboa Hospital once a week. So, once I came back, I would do the drive through and order a hot dog and french fries(which are one of the better fries I have had in San Diego). One of the top 5. Miss those days. So, when ever me and my hubby wanted a hot dog we would go to this place, and sit outside watching the cars go by on Rosecrans. Fun times.

We ordered 2 corndogs, a chili cheese dog, a bacon ranch dog, and a giant lemonde. It came out to $ 8. The corn dogs were perfect! They have the best chili cheese dog. We weren’t a huge fan of the bacon ranch, but it was still good. Lemonade was awesome.

Defiantly a great late dinner. The husband went pretty heavy with the chili cheese dog and chili cheese fries. I on the other hand stuck light with the kraut dog. We also both got dipped cones. That all came in at just over $ 10. Pretty cheap date. Food was just what the Dr. Ordered.

First of all, I love this place. Second, this location has the best and friendliest service. I ordered my chili dogs and when the employee came out to bring my drink and collect my cash, she saw my dog and asked me if my dog would like a hotdog. I said sure, and she brought one out, totally packaged and let me know that it was hot and to be careful! HOWAMAZINGANDSWEETISTHAT!!! I loved it and for that they get 10 stars for the animal friendly service!

I went there today and watched as the worker rested his entire arm on all the fresh buns and held a long conversation over them with his co-worker. I even have a photograph! YUCK! When I told the other worker next time she should really say something to him she gave me a bad attitude. Excuse me? Would YOU eat that??? I think not!

It’s Wienerschnitzel. How could you not like it? It’s bad for you. MMMMMMMMMM… Nitrates. Yep, those hit the spot. Salty. Fake chili. This location is always hot, fresh, and and actually has very friendly and capable staff. Really. Corndogs? Always fresh. One thing I’m actually very picky about, fries(waxy, cold fries drive me to tears) are always made fresh here, which I love. Hey, it’s WEINERSCHNITZEL. But this is a good one, and it tastes even better late at night.

I have been to this location a few times and the drive-thru has been consistently efficient. There is a large menu to choose from and the prices are reasonable. I wish there were a few healthier options(maybe some healthier side options for the little ones… ya know, while they still WANT to eat apples over french fries lol). However, I do realize that this is a place based around hotdogs… deep fried hotdogs. The building is a little run down and the seating area could use an update. Overall, this is a good place to grab a quick bite… that you will most likely regret later :)

I’m not a hot dog for hot dogs. My mom is, though, so we stopped in here because I was on the verge of an LFC(Low Food Catastrophe). It turns out the hot dogs here are really tasty, and they’re cheap. Here’s the issue though: There is nothing on this menu that shows you your options for a standard hot dog. you can order everything from a Kraut Dog to a Chili Cheese Dog, but I stood there a good five minutes trying to figure out how to order a plain hot dog with ketchup and mustard. This is like going to a pizza place that only has a menu for Hawaiian or BBQ chicken pizza, and when you order a regular they look at you funny. Three stars because it’s fast, cheap, and tasty. Also because you should not ever rate a hot dog anything more than 3 stars, just on principle.

We rarely eat fast food, but we occasionally stop in here on our way to Shelter Island as a «treat» for my girls, since they LOVE this place. It’s cheap, it’s got a retro almost-coolness to it, and you can’t beat the prices — $ 1.19 for a corn dog, and .79 for a small soft-serve cone. I have to admit, the corn dog is actually pretty tasty — nice and crispy coating, and although I know it’s far from health food, it’s only 250 calories, which actually surprised me. I prefer to take the food to go and eat it at a picnic table on Shelter Island overlooking the sailboats(rather than alongside the not-so-scenic Rosecrans traffic), but if we eat here(usually bcse the girls want to get an ice cream cone after), at least they have some upbeat music playing to make it a little more enjoyable. NOTE: Apparently for the Lenten season, they are currently serving fish sticks if you want to check those out…

In the area before heading to Sea World for the day, we wanted to grab something cheap before entering the park. Service was standard, albeit a little slow and the food was typical for this chain. I noticed that my credit card was overcharged for the meal by quite a bit(over $ 1,200 worth). My credit refunded me the amount and I’m still waiting to see if the restaurant responds to this. Everyone had quite a good laugh when I called my credit card company about it. It was easily rectified since no one believed I bought over $ 1200 dollars worth of hotdogs. Hope the cashier is more careful next time with her decimal point placement.

I love their 5 for $ 5 mix-n-match chili/corn dogs. So far, a Latino gentlemen took our order both times we’ve been through and he was very nice!

I’ve been a fan since I was a kid. I stick with the regular chili dogs, you can never go wrong with those. I never had a problem here and it’s one of my favorite fast food places.

It was late and after my son and I had spent the day hanging out in Ocean Beach, we needed some food fast. The first thing I noticed was that the resturant’s rating had been upgraded to a «B». How? I’m not really sure, cause it looked pretty dirty. I couldn’t help but laughing when up to the window walks a late 20’s man who obviously had a serious drug problem! Just some advice to all you guys out there with satanic skull tatoos on your forearms, there is NO looking like a badass when you’re dressed in a wienerschnitzel uniform! LMAO That being said, he was friendly and added some chicken strips to my son’s meal for free. The dogs were no better than what I throw together in my kitchen using Oscar Myers and Hormel Chili. But it was cheap!

You know, every girl has a weakness. Mine is hot dogs. I simply HAD to have some last week. I cruised through the drive thru around 4pm and got myself a corn dog for .79 cents and a deluxe big beef hotdog. I prefer kosher dogs, so the Weinshizzle isn’t my first choice but it will do in a pinch. The guy that was working the drive thru was seriously one of the nicest fast food workers ever. He either loves his job, or maybe I was the only customer he had in hours and I saved him from boredom, but I’m telling you the dude was good. Fast and super nice. I’ll be back next time the craving strikes. If you’re going to consume junk it’s a hell of a lot cheaper than McD’s. I think I only paid like 3 dollars or something for dinner. Somebody give that man a raise! :)

Is Wiernerschnitzel the best thing going in hotdogs? Not hardly! Could they take on and compete with Nathan’s who are the«undisputed king of hotdogs»? Dont make me laugh! Would they give Hebrew National hotdogs a run for thier money? Not in Wienerschnitzel’s wildest dreams! Wienerschnitzel’s hotdogs are not bad but not great either! They are ok and I will eat here from time to time if Im looking for a quick lunch or snack. Im always getting coupons in the mail from this franchise so this is a great place to dine without spending alot of money and with this economy money is something that is in short supply for me! Ive noticed at the Point Loma location that I get faster service if I go through the drive-through.As a added treat they serve Diary Queen desserts. Nothing like a «blizzard» to end your chilli dog meal with! Average hotdogs that taste ok and can be bought for cheap. Time to clip some coupons and make a return visit! Great place for the broke and hungry! Sounds like me!
