Menu items are the usual. Nothing really stands out. My biggest challenge is they advertise being open 24⁄7 but they aren’t. They are closed midday, many days. There is another one a few blocks down which is dumb. But there good isn’t great so you hope this location is open. So change the hours or the signs.

Went to MXN today and ordered grilled fish taco. They gave me taco with fried breaded fish. Talked to and showed the cashier but she insisted that it was grilled fish taco. I did not want to make a fuss and let it go because I was with a group of coworkers. But will not come here again. The cashier took money and touched the food without washing her hands.

Best California Burrito in San Diego. I go here at least once a week to get my burrito fix. The service is fast and prices are reasonable! Love it!

We have been eating here for 13 yrs now and love their food but in my last and final visit to them I was given less food than what I paid for and didn’t realize it until I got home in Bonita(long drive at rush hour). This is what happened: I ordered a full order of Carne Asada Chips, a Carne Asada burrito and a half order of Carne Asada Fries. I screwed up my husband’s order of full Carne Asada Chips(forgot to say«no sour cream please») then i agreed to buy another one(cause the girl who took my order said«he’s not going to want to throw it away and make another one for you». I pause for a few seconds because I don’t think that was right to say their customer, but I agreed to buy another one thinking«OK, I’ll give it a family member so it doesn’t go to waste. She charged me and then gave me the receipt and said the Manager gave you a discount. I just said OK, thanks. I didn’t read the receipt in detail cause the price looked very close to the cost of the carne asada chip price. She gave me the bag finally(it took forever even though she had already told me that my order was already made and they couldn’t change it) and she said to me «you did say no sour cream on both Carne Asada Chips and Carne Asada Fries, right»? I said«NO, i didn’t say that. We have only been talking about the Chips». She said«Oh, because I thought you said«both» but here I will give you a cup of sour cream». I just looked at her like«haven’t you been listening to me this whole time». So I took it and drove off. When I got home I found my 3 items that ordered and was expecting to see an extra full order of CA chips but they were not in the bag. I looked at the 2nd receipt she gave me and saw that she charged me for a new CA chips«no sour cream» and a half order of CA fries«no sour cream» both at half price. She was only suppose to charge me for one full order of CA chips. Now i realize that I paid for more food than what was in the bag. I called to speak to the Manager and he said exactly this«when I give you 50% off the next order we always keep the items that you didnt’ want. Its your fault but I was helping you by giving you 50% off the next one. So what’s the problem?» He kept telling me this over and over as I was explaining to him that«you don’t keep the other food if you are making me pay for it. I paid for it, it’s mine regardless if I say I ordered it wrong». He then said«well come back now and we’ll discuss it in person but you made the mistake, I don’t see the problem». I told him«no, I want a refund for the item i didn’t get when I come see him tomorrow because right now its too far for rush hour and were eating dinner». He said«we don’t give refunds». I have not gone back to see him. He said talk to the owner thru the website but hey, the website has been down since I checked that day.

Back when this place was Santana’s, it was immensely popular — height of popularity may have been back when the MTV Real World kids lived nearby and frequented Santana’s. Today, my daughter ordered the bean and cheese burrito, and it was actually very good — nice fresh tasting beans and tortilla, just $ 2.99. I got the bean tostada, which is often my taco shop favorite, but wasn’t so good; didn’t like the flavors, and tostada was soggy and tough, not crispy. Based on this visit, would rate it a solid average in the taco shop category, but would come back another time and try one of the burritos.

Breakfast review. Breakfast burritos were huge and very tasty. Good mix of eggs, cheese and potatoes. The location was dead on a weekend morning. Better option than hotel food. I would eat there again.

Their red and green salsas are my favorite across the city so far, and they go perfectly poured on after every juicy bite of pollo adobada burrito. I’ve never been disappointed, service is always quick, and the serving sizes are just right. For a drive through mexican restaurant you can do a lot worse. You aren’t here for authentic mexican, you’re here for the very best americanized versions of mexican food.

What can i say this place is all over the place here in San Diego… much better tacos than the Taco B*** double the price but double the flavor and they use pulled beef instead of the usual ground beef… and the tortilla was really better … worth the visit…

MXN = Phenomenal Mexican Take Out We are regulars(2 – 3 times/week) at this location. We absolutely love the food here and the service is great. The tortillas and beans have a home-made taste. The portions are large and the atmosphere is nice eat-in/“take out”. We liked them so much we asked them to prepare the food for our mexican food party. We had carne asada, rice, beans, guacamole and lettuce. The price was very reasonable and the best part was that the food was tasty! Highly recommended as a great alternative to McDonalds or Taco Bell. Did I mention that Starbucks is conveniently located next door?!

My roommate turned me onto this place about 6 – 7 momths ago. I’m not a huge fan of rolled tacos because I don’t really like corn tortillas but their tortillas don’t even taste like corn. They have the best rolled tacos ever and the fish taco can give Rubio’s a run for their money. I will no longer be frequenting this establishment(company wide/any location) though because they don’t honor their ‘don’t receive your receipt, it’s on us’ policy. Seems silly, but it’s the principle. I recorded the conversation with the employee and in broken English, he said I come every night so why would I want free food. First of all, I don’t go every night, BUT if I did, wouldn’t that be more reason to get my food free for not getting my receipt?

Twice this last weekend we enjoyed late night and early morning burritos. Good hot sauce. Sushi Queen devours the deep fried yellow peppers with the lemon pepper and salt on them.

I came here with a group of people for a late lunch on Friday, 2÷24÷2012. I remembered when this place was Santana’s and I recalled that it was pretty good so I was excited to be here since I haven’t gone since the name change. The place was an old renovated taco bell that is a bit run down. The restroom, located outside in the back of the building, requires a code to get in and was dirty. The cashier was not friendly(not that I expected much, but I remembered they were at least a little nice when I came here last). I ordered a California burrito with guacamole and sour cream. Overall, the burrito came out oddly room temperature. The meat was tough and chewy but it tasted okay. Even though the meat was tough, I was a bit happy that they did give a lot more meat than I expected. The cheese was cold rather than melted with the hot ingredients. The guacamole and sour cream was uneven so at one point there was only guacamole and sour cream bites. The steak fries were soft with no crispiness to it at all. There was a minimal amount of pico de gallo. The salsa bar was pretty spicy with the exception of the green salsa which tasted sour more than anything. It was very disappointing that the salsas were just spicy or sour with no flavor to it. I was really excited to see grilled onions, but when I tried them, they were over salted and peppered and very oily. I am so disappointed how this place went downhill! The food didn’t taste fresh, my burrito was okay flavor wise, and the salsa bar was disappointing. Note: If you do come here, there is very limited parking in the small lot. But there is usually plenty of parking on the street around there away from Rosecrans.

Still not sure what was wrong with«Santana’s». But it’s still very good, with some of the best salsa around. My only question: Why so stingy with the napkins?

Solid mexican food for real good prices. Always a great choice on the way to work or at odd hours of the day. Like 2:34 a.m. I haven’t been disappointed once in the hundreds of times I’ve been there to eat. The service is always lightning quick, and the employees are cheery!

Talk about down hill from when it was Santanas. When I hear the microwave beep as often as I did while I was there… just plain disappointing. There are far better options near by.

Not gonna lie, I ate here twice yesterday. TWICE! And I ordered the same thing both times, and it was delicious both times. Thank you for being so close to our hotel, and thank you for not changing the food when you changed your name to MXN. I have a soft spot in my heart for the veggie burrito, and can’t wait until we meet again.

Had a fish taco, it was pretty tasteless. The salsa was good.
