Horrible service. No service, actually. Came in and waited. No one at the counter. Waited more. Called out. No one. I could hear them laughing in the back. I guess they don’t care that customers are waiting. Left. Went next door and got Mexican food.

Great location and they have all the options at this subway that most subways don’t have. My only complaint is that they give you a bag for your sub even if you’re not taking it to go… Pretty wasteful if you ask me. Other than that, subways pretty awesome

What happened Subway? Olives and Banana peppers cost too much these days? Let’s talk about skimping! I literally got one olives per tomato! How many tomatoes can you really fit on a footloong? Maybe about 6 – 7? Yes, so 6 – 7 olives and 6 – 7 banana peppers. I mean damn, what’s up? Can I get a little bit more since I’m paying $ 8 for a sandwich? I understand portion control, but this big boy needs to eat and deserve to get my money’s worth. Thanks subway, but no thanks. If it wasn’t for convenience, I’ll be at Jersey Mikes or Firehouse Subs.

Bottom Line: Quick service and a friendly staff serving fresh sandwiches. This subway is my go-to spot for meals prior to departing SAN. I usually go in the early to mid-morning and service is always great. Also, I like that at 6:30am they are serving breakfast and lunch! I get my breakfast for there and my lunch to go so I can enjoy it when I’m 35,000 miles over Kansas. This location is clean and seems to have a steady stream of customers in the morning. I imagine lunch here is probably way busier! Finally, for what its worth, I want to note that I’ve been going here about once a month on a Friday morning since August and I haven’t ever received any bad service. In light of so many negative reviews, I am trying to understand if its because this Subway has improved or if because the staff in the mornings are just friendlier.. .

Overall decent experience I was able to get my sandwich easily and quickly. Location and tables is kinda crazy no parking no where to sit during lunch. As a result cleanliness and customer service isn’t great. It’s close to work though so had to grab something healthy

Well, this location has taken a beating in recent reviews, and I can tell you many of them were well deserved. RUDE girls, pushy sandwich makers and poor assembly were all hallmarks at this airport /liberty station west location. HOWEVER… Things are on the mend here. The last couple of times I’ve been by I’ve noticed some new and quite cheery faces, as well as better attitudes and more professional sandwich assembly. Catalina is new and a real superstar here– She has a gorgeous smile and greets everyone warmly. This place is looking and getting a lot better. I’ll bump it up a star if I get another great sandwich– The last two were excellent, but I’m still a little gun shy from having been mistreated here before. But I will say that things are getting better, and I’ll definitely be back soon.

Let me first say, working in the area for years and living close by I have eaten here many times with no real issues. The last two time the service has sucked. The employees are stonefaced, slow and don’t know what they are doing. One experience I had the new soup with peppers in it. It was like wallpaper paste. I only wish I had tasted it first before I ordered. Horrible texture and taste. The girl who made my sandwich moved in slow motion and had no idea what she was doing. More training perhaps? Yesterday I stopped by for a half of a meatball sandwich meal. No one said a thing when I walked in the door, stonefaced girls just looked at me. Nice welcome. What do you want? Ok, I can see this is going to be a challenge already. Toasted? Yes, please. Burnt? No, but that is what I got. Waiting to see if she was going to offer to make it over, I could see she was not. I said, «that is really burned». She then said I can make it over. I decided to go with it. Big mistake. While getting my soda the counter had a white dirty towel laying on the counter. Very gross. I went home to eat my meal and the bread was so toasted and burnt that it scaped the roof of my mouth and was not edible. I am done with this shop. They need quality control and training for their staff desperately!

Looks like Subway’s mission as a healthy alternative has come to a close. Don’t get me wrong — it’s very encouraging to see the recent news reports about how the chain is finally eliminating azodicarbonamide from its ingredients(this is a chemical used to make shoes and yoga mats), but it’s the addition of Fritos to the subs that really did it for me. My last stop in this Subway is when I saw the giant advertisements for subs with Fritos and enchilada meet. If you’re into purchasing your stomach ache, that’s cool. Me, I’m good. Lastly, this Subway did something I’ve never seen in a restaurant. The cashier actually started texting as I was paying for my food. Never seen that. As a customer, if I’m on my phone in line, then yo! That’s a line full of angry people and probably that store is putting up a sign about not to use your cell phone while you’re in line. This cashier got on the phone in the middle of business. And think about it — the cell phone is one of the filthiest things you can touch on the job. Maybe Fritos and azodicarbonamide should be the least of our worries in this spot?

Hmm Subway, there’s only one true factor that can separate it from its peers — employees. Judging from previous reviews, this place seemed to have a problem pleasing its customers, but after a few visits I didn’t see any of those issues personally. I was taken care of quickly, and they had a smile on while making my chopped chicken salad. I also don’t expect the red carpet to be rolled out for me at Subway, so this one gets a B– from me. Unilocal says I have to give 3 stars though, so I’ll just do that instead.

Now I understand businesses need to make a profit, but wow. And like everyone else have been eating at subways for years. This is the first subway that refuses to put vegetables in your sandwich. If I ask for jalapeños and you give me 4 slices on a foot long… uh really? Couldn’t even give me enough lettuce to cover the bread. I remember when they would fill your sandwich to the brim with lettuce. Ok I’m ranting, anyways I’d say try jersey mikes or another subway location if you’re actually hungry.

I went to Subway craving a tuna sandwich. I went in there, and there were about 5 employees on hand. As my sandwich girl was preparing my tuna sandwich, I noticed one of the employees unloading the bacon from its plastic packaging and onto the counter, without any paper under to protect the counter for cross contamination. I brought it to their attention, asking who was the manager on hand. I wasn’t acknowledge by the African-American employee, they all pointed to. She didn’t seem to care about my concerns. A gentlemen came in and I didn’t see this employee that was handling the bacon, put on new gloves, nor wipe down the counter. Regardless, you shouldn’t put any types of meats, on that counter, as it’s not sanitary. I wanted to take a pic to post. Unfortunately I was not able to take that pic. I really wish I would’ve, considering I worked for the Unified school district and that’s a no, no to put bacon, meats, and veggies on counters. That is what you call cross contamination. I’m really disappointed in this Subway. You have 5 employees and none seem to care. The only one that acknowledge my comment was the nice employee that handled my tuna sandwich. Maybe she should be the manager. If your gonna handle food, be sanitary, or don’t work where food is handled. I called the Subway’s corporate number: 800−888−4848 All I know,… Is I hope that the owner of this Subway reads this!

after forgetting at the house the 20 or so sandwiches we made at 6a for our fishing trip, we had to stop here to pick up lunch. man cannot live on beer alone. we were stoked they were open at 8am. the two young ladies in there were quick with making our sandwiches. i just wished their Keurig coffee maker were half as quick. that and i wished we didn’t forget to bring the coffee we made along with the sandwiches! anyway, 3 cups of coffee on the Keurig took about 7mins. not very practical if people are in a hurry, like us. but, the girls were sweethearts and i can’t fault them for a crappy piece of equipment. place was clean and service was excellent. dont’ tell anyway i took pictures because apparenlty i’m not supposed to!

Wow this place has gotten busier and busier and yet the the Subway staff didn’t skip a beat. They had the line moving quickly and yet still got every order right. When I arrived the line was at the door and yet I was out and happy within 15 min, pretty darn good for the lunch rush!

Based on the reviews below, I think this place needs a new update because I think the manager had a recent hiring spree all the girls seemed nice and they all greeted me when I walked in. Typical Subways branch… they ask me what I wanted on my teriyaki chicken sandwich etc. They didn’t meaneye me at the same time they weren’t exactly enthusiastic either. I’m starting to wonder if its just because I’ve had experience in the military that I’m not expecting the best quality service everywhere I go but this Subway hasn’t given me any trouble yet. I’ll stop by again and give an update sometime.

Holy cow this Subway is heading down the drain! Low portions, they even smashed my samwich all to pieces! I got two cucumbers, and three«pieces» of green pepper with a sprinkling of lettuce. Cut backs that bad at Subway? I don’t know were they find the people to work there but the customer service is gone! Just this morning I walked in to get me a delicious samwich, and none of the staff even acknowledged me– not that I need it — I just like the«welcome to subway» greeting. The staff was extremely lazy and slow moving — the girl didn’t even know what came on the sammy I ordered — trainee? = forgiven.

Subway is the Starbucks of sub shops. I’ll just echo what Robert A says on Subway’s use of bland, pre-cooked, processed deli cuts, and lackluster dressings/sauces which explains my rating, but deserves closer to 3 for being a relatively cleaner store and for offering a variety of bread choices that are baked in-house.
