Gluten-free Italian! This place is amazing! Italian is my absolute favorite and since I’ve had to eat gluten free, I pretty much gave it up. But this place can do almost any dish gluten free… Pastas and pizza– and both are delicious. Excited to make it a regular!

I am a local of Ocean Beach. I’ve been to this place over 100 times and NEVER(hear that) never had a bad meal nor has any of my guests… ever! I can’t say that about many places but I can about Ulivo. It used to be called Expresso Cuchina, but they finally changed the name as many thought they were a coffee house and not a top of the line Italian eatery. Their menu has from pizza to Osso Bucco and everything in between. Jackie is one of the waitress’s there and will ensure you have a good experience. I highly recommend this place as it’s one of my favorite in all of San Diego. P. s. they have parking behind the restaurant so no searching for parking either… and added bonus!

This revamped Ocean Beach restaurant, used to be Espresso, is our new favorite date night spot. Great menu, quiet and lovely décor– and in our neighborhood! We love the servers and chef– I always get the bruschetta and I’ve never had a bad item on the menu. I also wanted to say thank you to Chris and Adriana for contributing to our community by donating to school fundraisers– thank you! They are just great people with a fabulous restaurant!

Food was decent, better than average. Service, however, was less not good at all. Bread was good. Linguini with clams had stones in them.

One word: amazing! The cavatteli… not sure that’s spelled right… is to die for! Try it with jalapeños! …Janet is a doll. The atmosphere is perfect for a date, beautiful ambiance and just a walk from Sunset Cliffs. You must try. They have a to go side as well for the lazy locals ;)

Damn this place for wine Wednesdays! Love this place, was really impressed how much our server«Jackie» knew about wine. They are probably one of the better looking Italian restaurants and the pizza is great. I have tried the spaghetti and raviolis too and everything just taste good. Oh yea, the house bread to start out with is also kick ass! I have also always had to leave with a doggy bag, good size portions

We have just moved to town when a neighbor recommended we try this restaurant. We had shopped in the market next door and were impressed by their customer service and selection. We ordered traditional dishes: bolognese and lasagna. Both were delicious. Our server was attentive and friendly. We had a great experience. Can’t wait to go back!

While visiting San Diego we decided to try out this restaurant. The waiter was very nice but had to tell us several times our food would be right out. We finally got served an hour later. When asked what took so long he said the lasagna was made fresh. When I got to the center of the lasagna it was cold. Im not sure if its possible to be fresh but cold in the middle. My mothers meal was very good no problem except the wait. He gave us both our meals for free but said we would still have to pay for desert. Im not sure if they should have comped that also. I don’t think we will be back.

Really decent prices and awesome Italian food! The service is awesome and the food speaks for itself. Street parking and super close location to the OB strip, although this location is off the beaten path for tourists. That actually adds to its appeal though because it is more of a locals only spot. It fills up around 7ish so it might be hard to get a table. But that just means its really really good and worth the wait if there is one.

Stopped in yesterday for dinner round 8. This is a great little gem in OB. Our server was great. Thursday is there half off a bottle of wine night and we took advantage. GF had the special of chicken an capers and I had the lasagna(my gauge for Italian). Both were amazing. We will definitely be back.

Great spot! Switched names, and maybe owners? I heard not so great things previously– subpar food, okay service, blah blah blah. NOW when we went about a week ago– I was completely impressed. Food was very good– we had the spinach salad to start, and then the chicken dish– all VERY good. And we found ourselves there for wine Wednesday– what a great deal. I know I will definitely be back– so many other good things to check out!

Super bummed with my first time eating here. Came here for Valentines dinner. We had terrible service. Our waitress gave us no attention and took 15 minutes to get out bread and a glass of wine. She never even got asked if I wanted a second glass of wine. Dinner was«ok». We paid $ 65 for a bummer experience on a special night.

Charming little place, nice mood lighting, and the food was spot on. We stopped in after watching the sunset at Sunset Cliffs. We got a seat at the window, which I enjoy. Service was fast and delightful, wine was fantastic, the Caprese salad was very good, the bread so delicious and my lasagna melted in my mouth. Cook gave us edible flowers on top of our main meal, which we were told he normally doesn’t do. Very nice addition to our Valentine’s dinner. Looking forward to going back the next time I visit SD.

Wow! Over the top good. So we had take-out but the restaurant is very charming. When I picked up my order, the kitchen is open so I chatted briefly with the chef who was super friendly. The Caesar and Primavera salads are both great. The family had lobster ravioli with vodka sauce, chicken piccata, chicken Alfredo and kid’s spaghetti and meatballs. All dishes were flavorful and fresh. One of my best meals in quite some time. Probably headed back tomorrow night.

Espresso was good… This is Great! The menu is incredible! Staff is terrific and location is perfect… only a few minutes from my house. The food is a tremendous experience! The wine selection is just as good. I have not had anything I haven’t liked. New name, great food.

Yum. We just got take out from Ulivo, and it was delish. We had pizza with black olives — so much flavor, perfect crust. And, spaghetti with marinara sauce… I know this is blasphemy, but I dare say I might have liked the spaghetti more than the pizza. The pasta came with super good garlic bread sticks. We also got salad, which was more deluxe than I was expecting with olives, garbanzo beans, tomatoes, cucumber, and red onion. Dinner was amazing, this will definitely be our new go-to for takeout. Can’t wait to try some fancier entrees inside another time.
