When it comes to bubble tea, I think this place falls in the middle of the spectrum as there are better and worst places to go to, but there is convenience in having different ones nearby. I used to get the milk tea with boba, but came to realize as I started drinking drinks from other places that it was overly sweet in comparison and I sometimes forget to ask them to reduce the sweetness so now I just go with something that I know they do pretty well, which is the taro slush. I got a taro milk tea last time here and it felt very powdery so just go with the slush instead. The cashiers and workers have been pretty pleasant to me, but maybe because I don’t notice their attitudes like other people have talked about. They could use a little wipe on their tables, but I think it might be hard for them sometimes since they’re often busy, but maybe put that into their task priorities. Overall, I would go here if I was really craving it and I was too far away from Infinitea. Parking is terrible, I hate that parking lot. Park on the street.

Mini corndogs:. /5 Taro milk tea with boba and egg pudding: best boba I’ve had!!! Noise level very loud not just from customers. Came on Monday night. Good for groups. Not crowded. Lot of space to move around but place seems understaff. Parking is crowded Overall: 5⁄5

TapX on Convoy is an oldie but goodie! The owner knows how to train his staff well. Food is prompt and exactly as ordered. I’m glad this place has lasted as long as it has. Every time I go, I’m reminded of the late nights during the college days.

The staff here is really rude. Seriously, there is one guy who is at the register who always has a mean look on his face. He has an attitude as if he never wants to serve you and would rather not be there, it just came off as it is really rude. I don’t even know why he is still employed because if this was my franchise, I would have fired him immediately. The food has gone way down over the years. I always order my crispy chicken but this time it was too much breading and not enough chicken. It tasted like it was fried for too long. The drinks are still good.

This place looks really nice inside. This tapioca express sucks though. The way they make there drinks are not sweet. The other locations make drinks much better. National city and the one on College makes drinks a billion times better. I order a coconut snow bubble, and it tasted like milk and water. I would recommend not coming here for snow bubbles. They will get mad at you if you ask them to remake it. Go to national city or College!!! Much better there! With better parking!

Tapioca Express is a staple among college kids in the area. Being of an age that is more advanced than I’d like to admit, I certainly remember when lines formed for the stuff and it was where everyone went for a study break or well, to study. While those days are certainly over boba has certainly found a staying niche in the overcrowded snack hole of Asian Americans. Tapioca Express has settled in among the boba options in the area and in general. The rare occasions I do come nowadays everything is decent. I just tried the pistachio flavored something drink and it was pretty good. Spicy chicken just hits the spot, but how can you mess up spicy fried clumps of chicken right? Definitely one of my guilty pleasures. So come in for a treat, hangout with friends, leave feeling slightly guilty, ah… just like visiting an Asian home =)

Love this place, i usually go for their crispy chicken rice combo; comes with crispy chicken, rice, egg, and steamed veggies =BOMB! Also comes w/jasmine green tea or black tea or water as a drink. Around $ 8. Unfortunately parking is limited, the structure of the parking makes it hard to maneuver yourself through the traffic and turns. But that’s not tapex’ fault, but their food is definitely worth it!

We’ve tried other boba tea shops in the area and Tapioca Express is the best. So many flavors to choose from. I like matcha and my daughter’s favorite is jasmine milk tea. Steady stream of customers and parking lot fills up fast. Park on street for easier access.

Been here many times over the last decade as it was one of the original spots to serve boba for cheap. They’ve increased their prices but still provide good drinks and snacks. It’s hard to get to as parking is very limited in this busy strip mall but well worth the stress. Lines tend to be a bit long most times as they’re drinks are that good. There’s decent seating for about 50 guests and a few tables outside too. If you’re craving boba and are in Convoy drop by here. My favorite is the Large Mango Slush.

I like how they make the Matcha Milk Tea here, make sure to tell them with sugar! When I am in this area this is a must go-to place since bubble tea is my life! I also like how they have a lot of snack choices here but haven’t tried any yet. Eventually I will. Lot’s of tables and room to sit at. Friendly staff and quick too!

I’ve recently been turned on to Asian iced milk teas with boba. Holy goodness I’m addicted! I love grass jelly and boba with that tea and lactose injected milk! Damn good! My new spot on convoy…

Solid boba with about 5 or 6 different jelly choices. Got the watermelon juice with rainbow jelly. So flavorful and refreshing. Food smells delicious… Gotta come back and try it sometime!

$ 3.25 for hot black milk tea that tasted like cigarette ash. Customer service was excellent and the workers worked well together as a team. At first glance, the menu looked awesome. Very reasonable prices and all drinks under five dollars. With that said, I have reviewed 90% of all boba shops in San Diego. I am a pretty staunch critic when it comes to your standard black milk tea. I had my boyfriend try it and he was not a fan either. They use nondairy creamer but possibly a very cheap quality, that does not compliment the drink. I’m not sure if they use teabags or looseleaf tea but the flavor of the tea itself tasted very strange and dirty. I am not a fan of «Tea Station» prices, but sometimes you really get what you pay for. ShareTea, Tea Station, Boba Shop are good choices for milk teas. M.I.Tea is great for blended ices. 86′ bakery is fantastic for basic milk tea plus cheap eats.

I’ve only ever gotten the Boba tea here but they have impressive selection of hot tea and smoothies if you’re so inclined. There’s also a limited selection of food available and I’ve never waited more than a few minutes for an order. It’s a great part of Clairemont’s Asian flavor, but the parking is hell and you’d be lucky to find street spots on a busy night. The store itself has tons of room and has a very clean, wooden well-lit aesthetic that’s easy to appreciate and is great for big groups.

The crispy chicken is where it’s at! I pretty much survived on that chicken alone during my college years, and I still find myself hankering for it still. After all these years, I am still not tired of it! The chicken is cooked with basil that really distinguishes it from other places. I order mine spicy, and the powder that they use is perfectly spicy for me, but may be too hot for others. Start with mild or medium spicy and if it’s not spicy enough just ask them to make it spicier. As for their drinks, I always get their milk tea. I’ve tried the regular, lavender, and earl grey. Earl grey milk tea is my personal favorite, but they only offer that flavor in the La Jolla location unfortunately. Too far of a trek for me now, but if you’re in the neighborhood, try it out! The milk tea is pretty sweet and there isn’t a way to ask for it less sweet since it’s a pre-made mix. Parking here is a nightmare, but don’t let that deter you from enjoying their delicious chicken and milk tea!

Tapioca Express in Convoy is a nice spot to get your boba fix… and even that crispy chicken goodness! I used to frequently come here and they used to have a location at SDSU then they closed it, so Convoy was the spot to go to especially for a late night option. I’ve also been to Otay and UCSD TapEx. The selection of drinks they have is huge, and even better if you are hungry they have bites! My normal favorite drinks would be: Iced Almond Milk Tea, Thai Tea, and Taro Milk Tea. sometimes with boba depending on my mood. The boba is at a small extra charge, and is sweet, chewy, and filling. On busy nights parking can be tricky here, but there is sidewalk parking as an option. They have good service, yummy drinks, and outlets also which is a plus!~

I know I’m a masochist by constantly coming here when I know there are other places in the area for good boba but perhaps it’s simply out of nostalgia. All the drinks are too sweet, the boba is flavorless and too gummy in texture, and the tables are ALWAYS sticky. I know I could have asked them to wipe it down but they’re always so busy(hence the sticky tables probably). Also, they don’t have water pitchers available to wash down the sweetness from the drinks — you have to buy bottled water I presume since there’s a case by the cash register. The saving grace for me is the crispy chicken plate. Some might argue that it’s too salty but I actually enjoy the flavors. It’s not like any other chicken I’ve had. Again, it may be out of pure nostalgia but it’s got a good crunch and saltiness to it that matches well with the fried egg and rice it’s served with. The portion size is also good for the price. The veggies though were too salty and since the chicken was already salty, the flavors was overpowering and didn’t balance well with the chicken. Since I’m a sucker for punishment, I’ll probably be back again but I would completely skip the drinks completely.

I’ve been going here for over 10 years and this place has really gone down the drain. Don’t get me wrong, the drinks here are still good in my book. But everything else needs major improvement. 1. All the little young kids that work here need an attitude adjustment. They never greet you with a smile or happy face. They look stuck up and act like they don’t want to serve you. 2. They don’t use proper language. They don’t say things like«What can I get you». They just stand there and stare at you until you say something. 3. Everytime I order on the phone, they always ask me «How long until you can get here?» Excuse me? When I say I can get there in 5 minutes, they’re like«I don’t think your order will be ready by then»… Then how about instead of asking me how long it will take me to pick up my order, TELLMEWHEN will it be ready or how long it will take. Seriously? Dumb. 4. I swear the only good food item here is their crispy chicken. Everything else is mediocre, dry, flavorless or chewy. BBQ Beef ribs? Chewy. Rice? Dry. Vegetables? Plain. Chicken Wings? Small. 5. They STOPPED giving you ranches or dipping sauces with your orders that NEED dipping sauces unless you ASKTHEM. It should be standard to come with at least one ranch per crispy chicken order for example.

Great lounge area & boba! Snow bubbles are usually what I get since it’s easy to finish the tea in two sips. I also really enjoyed their crispy chicken; they add a little spice so it has a kick. The downside(as many have mentioned) is parking. Might be best if you just skip over the mini lot madness and station yourself on the side street. They stay open late for a coffee type shop so that’s a plus.
