Ambience(3⁄5): Nothing too fancy about this place. Literally what you would expect if you have ever been to a korean tofu store. I will say I do dig the lemonade and fruit punch dispensers in the front, where you can quench your thirst while waiting in line. Service(3⁄5): This place is pretty hit or miss about service. They are super quick in terms of taking in your order, serving your food, and even handing out the check. But this can be good or bad. Good, if you are hungry and just want a quick no thrills meal. Bad if you feel like they are rushing you just to get more people seated. My last time here, while in the middle of taking our orders, our server left to serve food to another table and came back to finish our orders. Pretty strange. Not going to lie. Food(4⁄5): I honestly don’t think the food here is out of this world. But I never had a bad experience. I usually stick with the tofu soups(I mean the place is literally named after that). The portions are on the larger side and the price point is under $ 10, which does help on the wallet. I also really like how they have a basket of eggs, so you can put as much or as little as you want(most places only give you 1 egg per soup). Don’t get over-eggcited and put too many eggs, I ended up using 3 and it did make the broth a little thicker and eggier than I was hoping for. Overall, a solid place if your looking for korean tofu soup. Nothing that makes it stand out compared to the rest, but extremely consistent experiences keeps on making me come back.

On Jan 18th2016, we arrived at 830p and the restaurant was busy! The servers were excellent about acknowledging our need for a table for two. They hustled to clear a table and to get our order submitted. Unfortunately, that was the best of the experience. We had to ask for waters repeatedly and didn’t get the side dishes until after the order was sitting boiling hot on our table. Once we got our waters, we were never approached again. We called, hollers and banged on our table for the 3 waiter’s attention but they seemed more interested in closing the register or tallying the receipts while talking to each other with their backs towards the entire restaurant. I have never had this type of experience here with the same waiters, they are usually on the ball and moving around rapidly to each table. I had to yell to get their attention for the bill, which took about 15 minutes and the guy looked at me like he couldn’t be bothered. Another 15 minutes passed to get them to take my credit card. I typically tip the minimum 15% and my friends acknowledge that I’m usually more than generous on tips with everyone. This time, as bad as it felt to do it, the staff earned a low tip from me and a low review. The business will do better and this one low review won’t hurt them at all. Just hoping I don’t have to experience this again and a great establishment.

There was no sign in sheet but I guess they keep track mentally? We hit seated pretty considering it was a busy Sat. Night. They give you unlimited eggs for your meals! They weren’t very attentive towards us though… Did not refill or water or sides. But food was very good. We got tofu soup and party animal for about $ 20. Parking can be difficult if it’s crowded. We parked a block away.

Yikes, where to start. Had the Tasty Tofu spicy and it was terrible. The tofu soup tasted nothing like what Tofu soup should taste like. It’s almost like they added MaPo Tofu sauce to season it. Tofu soup being one of my favorite dishes, this terrible meal made me really sad and almost brought a tear to my eye. I guess it’s too much to expect good Korean food in San Diego. The rice was also poorly cooked, too much water.

We wanted to go to Raki Raki Ramen place but the waiting time was ridiculous so we ended up here. Parking is a pain in this Asian plaza in Convoy district. Tofu house is small and we waited at least 30mins. We don’t know what to order so I ordered C2 combo seafood shrimp soup and spicy pork. Spicy sizzling pork came first and rice. my boiling soup came later so I had to ask? They were pretty busy. When my soup came I cracked a raw egg it was just okay but spicy. I ordered shrimp fried rice and hot stone chicken for kiddos they didn’t like it. Hubby ordered chef special soup and he liked it and all the side dishes esp Kimchi(health benefits) Overall Korean food is not my type pretty strong and spicy. Had a tummy ache. CS was okay. And when we left at the restaurant my clothes smells food! Yikes! I don’t think I’m coming back here sorry ;(But their price was very reasonable.

Tofu House was really good with good prices, nice service, and good food! Even though yes, the restaurant is called Tofu House, I was a rebel and decided to get something other than their hot tofu bowls. I got the Hot Stone Rice bowl of the Hot Stone Fisherman and was not one bit disappointed. It had scallop, shrimp, baby octopus, and crab meat, and was only $ 10. The stone also included other veggies such as bean sprouts, carrots, fish cake, and japchae. The stone was super hot and sizzling when it came. Since I actually love it when the hot bowl makes the rice crispy, I tried not to stir it too much so I’d get some extra nice almost grilled/charred crunchy rice pieces. The seafood was nicely cooked and still moist and tender. Also, the bowl came with a bottle of red sauce, which I assume is something similar to the traditional gochujang, or hot red pepper paste. I put a bit and it added just the right amount of spicy kick to the bowl! There are also complimentary juices which you can go up and get yourself. Something else unique is that that they have eggs in a basket on the table so you can put as many eggs are you’d like in your dishes. For about $ 10, my belly was nice and super full! Definitely a restaurant I wanna come back again to!

Whenever I come here, I usually get the Hot Stone Bulgolgi, and have tried the Soon Doo Boo a few times. For around $ 10-$ 15, this place is a good price and the unlimited side dishes are definitely a plus. The waiters here are generally fast and efficient, and this is a great place to go for a fast and delectable meal. One tip is to NEVER enter the parking lot around these restaurants. It is almost always packed, and the parking lot is designed poorly so it is very cramped and hard to park. I always park a little down the street and walk.

My favorite Korean place in San Diego by far! And maybe favorite Korean place period. This place is pretty cheap, GIVESUNLIMITEDEGGS, and has the best service of any Korean place I’ve been to. I came on a weekend for lunch and got a combo of Hot Stone Bibimbap and Pork Tofu Soup for $ 16. Me and my boyfriend were so surprised and excited that for each table, they lay out a big basket of eggs for you to use as you wish. We cracked like 3 eggs into each of our dishes(made the tofu stew overflow with eggs hahaha). The bibimbap was delicious! Definitely one of the better bibimbaps I’ve had. The only downside is that it was smaller than I would have liked, but for the price, it’s totally worth it. The tofu soup was really good too. What really makes this place stand out to me is the service. I’m used to going to Korean places and having to constantly try to flag down a server to have them reluctantly refill the side dishes or water, but here they’re really nice about it and constantly come around to check up on us. I’m so happy I found this place!

A meal per person is about $ 10. You get to choose from simple flavorful soups, unlimited eggs, a good number of sides. Soups are customizable and for those who don’t like soup, the meats are well marinated and brought out to you on a hot plate! They have other little things like fried rice, too. The fish cake here is the best fish cake on convoy, I’m soo addicted. Like most Korean places, the ban chan is unlimited. They’re very generous about it. You get a small amount at first, and if you keep asking for more, they’ll know to serve it in bigger portions. You get to choose from brown or white rice, and the untraditional me always gets brown rice. I LOVE the brown rice! Some other plusses are that they do not tax! There is also a free refreshment stand of fruit punch and lemonade and I like to finish my water cup so that I can get a big cup of juice! The service is so good here that my water almost alwats gets filled before I have a chance to finish it to get lemonade, LOL. The waiters are very attentive and the service here is very fast.

I have been able to visit Tofu House twice now. My first time was a few years back, I think I got bibimbap or something that time. It’s located in one of the many food plazas that make up Convoy. Parking here SUCKS though. One of the worst parking lots ever. It’s always busy here too, between all the restaurants that make up the plaza. There also always seems to be a wait at Tofu House. I went back recently and had about a 15 minute wait. Was able to decide on food during our wait and ordered as soon as we sat down. There was a bit of a mix up with our order though. We(four of us) originally wanted 2 kimchi tofu soups, 1 bulgogi rice, 1 bulgogi hot stone rice. But we ended up getting 3 tofu soups O_O. I tried to ask for them to cancel the hot stone(last to come out) but I guess it came right out after I asked. It was a lot of food, but it ended up being perfect between the bf and I. We finished our own tofu soups and ended up splitting the hot stone rice. So. Much. Food. Good food too. My favorite was probably the bulgogi in the hot stone rice. Everything comes out piping hot. We were really hungry and had to get to the airport in like half an hour — definitely ended up burning my tongue more than a few times while scarfing down food. There’s also some pretty cheap beer. $ 4 Ballast Point Sculpin bottles. Will be back eventually. Just so many good Korean restaurants to choose from on Convoy! Service is fast here. I mean, it has to be as they’re alwaaaays busy and packed. Food comes out surprisingly fast though. Perfect for those who are super hungry already and hate waiting.

Finally tried this place out yesterday, and it was okay. Lots of seating, and a good selection of items to choose from for their menu, and I ended up getting the B2 combo. Had a large group, and it looked like there was a sizable crowd, so service was good at first. However, after getting most of our orders, it tapered off, and soon wasn’t happening. Ended up missing a piece of my order while getting a refill on drinks/water became rare. The food itself was pretty good, and seemed enough in relation to the price($ 15), and most of my group liked/loved their food. I just kinda wished for more service, and perhaps a bigger way to split the check than only two cards.

I’m so ecstatic to be back in California! My entire family likes to eat here when we’re in San Diego. The bulgogi is delicious! They even leave eggs in a basket for you to cook on or in hot stone plate/bowls. Plus, the service is generally prompt and friendly. However, this place gets crazy busy on the weekends. So, you might have to wait for a while. Plus, the workers tend to push you out when it gets crazy busy. Not literally, but the bills are given while the food is served. At some point, one of the waiters accidentally took a plate while my mom was eating(she was almost done) and she wasn’t happy about it. This only happened once when it was super busy(there was a line of people waiting) though. Otherwise, it’s a wonderful place to go to and the food is worth it.

Huge fan of Tofu House. I’ve only had tofu soup a few times and this place is on point. They have a myriad of tofu soups with various seafoods including clams, shrimps, mussels, baby octopus, etc. and lots and lots of beef and pork options. I usually get the A2 special with seafood soup and galbi beef ribs. I love it. It’s super flavorful and comes with a good amount of meat. My favorite part is cracking 2 eggs into my boiling soup upon arrival. Soooo good! *Bad parking Check it out!

It’s been awhile since I’ve eaten at this tofu house location since their remodeling. This tofu house is located in the heart of convoy. Parking is a disaster in this little strip mall which always deters me from coming here but this time my husband and I found parking right away. Otherwise you’ll have to park on the street. I love Korean food especially the banchan/side dishes, it’s the highlight for me. Upon entering, I was surprised at the fact that the banchan was already sitting out at all the tables whether they were empty or occupied. I just didn’t like how it just made the dishes look so unappetizing as they were drying out and exposed to all the foot traffic and the open doors. Other than that, I love their sundubu. I think it has a lot of flavor and they have several varieties to choose from whether you’re craving a veggie option to bulgogi and seafood. They have a choice for everyone. The service was quite speedy and everyone was very friendly. Wouldn’t mind coming back here if I’m in the area just hope they fix their banchan issue.

I want to say in advance excuse the steam that was taking over my camera quality on my iPhone. Tonight was my first night eating here and I must say it’s worth coming back to. There was a bit of a wait at first, but it’s nothing to complain about since it was expected to be busy on a Saturday night in Convoy. First off I want to start by saying how the staff here at tofu house are so nice! One of the employees took our orders when we were waiting outside so by the time we got seated the waiters were already walking out with our food. My sister ordered the B2 and I ordered the D2. The B2 consisted of Bul Go Gi and seafood tofu. The D2 was the meat party hot stone and seafood tofu. These meals came with side dishes and on the side of the table they provided eggs. These eggs were there for you to crack them inside your dish. I must warn you that these bowls that they serve the food in are HOT! You can literally burn yourself so be careful, but moving on from that make sure to mix around your food so that it can cook through with or without the egg depending on if you added it in or not. The food here is delicious and it stayed hot inside the bowl the whole entire time I was there and that to me is a great way to eat your food. We ordered a hite beer to go with our meal and it was the perfect drink that went well with what we were eating. This whole meal cost around $ 40 which is a great price for what we were eating tonight and honestly it’s so well worth it that I can’t wait to come back and eat here again(:

MMM, comfort food especially on a cold day! I love their tofu stew so much that I come here even on scorching hot days. That’s how awesome and delicious their food is! My favorite dish is the Chef’s Special Boiled Tofu Stew. It consists of: shrimp, pollack roe, clam, oyster, scallop, and enoki mushroom. I’m a seafood girl so this hot-stone pot is full of tasty treasures! Crack a raw egg and let it cook in your stew. Oh so good!!! WARNING: If you don’t like using your hands in handling food, do not get a tofu stew with shrimp. The shrimp is fully shelled with the head on, so you’ll have to take the head off and peel the shell off to eat the shrimp. Darn, wish I had some boiled tofu soup right now.

I kinda of like this place now. After many many years of searching for a good kimchi tofu soup I think I’ll settle with tofu house. A lot of other tofu soup that I have tried are either overpriced and/or so bland. I think tofu house kimchi with pork(spicy level spicy) has the best flavor I’ve tried so far… They just don’t have many sides here but they will refill it for you as many times. Prices are affordable(under $ 10) for soup and combos are from $ 15-$ 20 which comes with a short rib plate and a smaller soup option. Customer service gotten better and this place hella renovated from the last time(or years) I’ve been here.

I think this place is more known for their tofu soup and hot stone bowls. I come to convoy and the one in Mira Mesa often and always order the same thing. A2 and either meat party hot bowl or the galbi bowl. They have 10 combos that you can choose from if are craving both tofu soup and meat ranging from $ 15 – 20. Service is fast and the food comes out pretty fast also(about 5−10min wait) even if the place is crowded.

This is probably the cheapest tofu house at convoy and you get what you pay. First of all, there are only four side dishes and none of them are my favorites. They only had kimchi, cucumber, raddish and fish cake and the former three have the same flavor. No potatoes and broccoli? Definitely not legit enough. Moving on, the tofu pot is very average, not a lot of meat but that’s like most tofu pots. There’s really not much to say about it except it’s an average tofu pot. However, the good thing about this place is that the staff are very efficient and the food comes out very fast. If you’re super hungry and don’t really care about the quality, this is the place to be.
