I call this place«the ant place» because i was handed my drive thru bag and it had little black ants crawling all over… not like one or two but twenty plus. The torta al pastor is good hence the second star.

Pretty darn good. Tortillas are delicious. Rice is a little«boxed» looking but Good prices. Good helpings. Very friendly place. Be prepared to be spoken to in Spanish first. Helps if you know a little. :) We went in after the initial Sunday rush and it was a little unkempt. It was Mother’s Day when we went in and they didn’t look like they were hating being there.

This was the first time I’ve been here I told the girl at the window, hoping they wld do a good job, I was looking for someplace on Easter that was open most of the other Mexican restaurants were closed. I looked at the reviews on this one and decided to give it a try. they didn’t have a fajita ranchera Taco like I normally eat, so I got a Carne Mexicana the meat was so overcooked my meat was crunchy! In case I did not like the 1st taco I also got a plain fajita taco which later on I found out when I couldn’t eat it, I opened it up and they had put Cilantro underneath the tortilla on the bottom of the foil, so when I opened it up the tortilla was full of a green slime, ruin the entire to taco. WTH who puts cilantro on fajitas anyway? my husband got a steak and enchilada rice and beans for nearly $ 9 the plate was basically edible was not worth $ 9 . Had no flavor the flautas that we got a dollar fifty each, were basically recooked chicken fajita in a corn tortilla hard, charged extra for sour cream! Wow so we won’t be back I’m sorry that the other people think this is good Mexican food. no matter how good the customer service is this is not good food we wasted $ 25.00 And will not be back.

This place is super cute and the drive through was quick and easy. I had the menudo and a few breakfast tacos. They were both delicious! The reason for my «4 stars» is because the bean and chorizo taco I had was literally half filled. It was very dry and I had to spread the lump of beans throughout the taco myself. It barely filled the taco. Menudo was very favorable! I really enjoyed my experience because the woman there were so polite and all of them had a huge smile on their face. Their menu is huge and they serve everything! I will return to try the other breakfast options because of the device I received through the drive thru.

Disappointing in every way. I was actually on my way to Ruthie’s off Bannock &410 but at the light I turned and saw they had a fajita taco special so I said Wth why not? I walked in and the décor was tacky with poster board items on the menu. I should of known this place was going to disappoint with a sign that said only one tea refill and no refills on drinks or chips. Seats and tables were mix matched. Some seats were so worn I thought I saw stretch marks on the seats. I was tempted to get duct tape just to hide the shame lol Service was horrible only two waitresses working the busy lunch shift. Usually lots of cars parked outside is a good sign but it’s only cuz the prices are cheap here, that’s the only saving grace for this place. The food had no taste I expect bland food at the usual mild mannered establishments like Cracker Barrel. My palate was screaming for flavor. I asked green salsa and they gave me the same salsa that came with the sorry basket they called chips and salsa that was prepared haphazardly at best. The tortillas were flour and homemade but they were soaked and wet to the touch. It turned my stomach. The asada inside was not flavorful and it was lukewarm. It was just entire epic fail. I left sorry that I didn’t just go to Ruthie’s like I had planned. I wouldn’t step inside this establishment again if they awarded me food for a year. I throw that prize in the trash. No Bueno, sorry to be harsh but in a city with as many Mexican Restaurants as there are stop signs this place is forgettable and regrettable. You’ve been warned.

Lengua torta was ok. Today was my 1st time stopping by. This won’t be a place I’ll go back to, maybe I tried the wrong thing.

This place is GOOD. I live nearby, so this is my go to restaurant when I’m craving some mexican. The al pastor mini tacos are absolutely delicious and of course are the bomb when they are paired with all the sides(lime, onion, cilantro, etc). Sometimes I’ve gone and they forget to put all the sides, so that can be disappointing, so be sure to ask for them or double check before you leave! With that being said, this place is a hit and miss. I’ve always had a bad experience when I dine inside, the service is slow and the food comes out cold. In the drive thru, it’s pretty fast and the food’s always warm when I get it home. This place gets busy on the weekends, but is worth the wait! Enjoy!

Well we thought we’d try this place not far from home that always seemed busy. Found out its not that they’re busy, just super slow. Sat trapped in the drive thru for over 20 min waiting for 2 mediocre tacos. Complained at the window about the wait, adding it was our first time there. All she could do was shrug and apologize. Not going back there!

Was a little weary when I pulled up for the first time yesterday, but I’m glad I tried it! I even went back tonight! The inside is really clean, great service, the food was hot, delicious and very inexpensive! They have great specials everyday, and even a drive threw. I definitely will be back and would recommend to my friends!

We came here for the first today and the waitress was very nice and prompt. But we waited 25 min for our food! Mind you we ordered tacos and one plate, people around us who got there before us had their food before us! The tacos were small I have been other places and paid the same amount and got bigger tacos there was hardly any egg and potato in the taco. I probably won’t come here again for breakfast but I’ll try the dinner and hope for the best.

Hard to beat 3 tacos(have to be the same kind) for $ 2.40. With that said, the food is just ok in terms of taqueria comida. It lacks a little flare. Worth a stop though.

Great little spot. Food’s above average, but the service and price are both great. If you want great a good quick and inexpensive meal, this is the spot!

This used to be a Dairy Queen, and they live as though it’s always siesta. Okay, I’ve set your expectation for the experience. IOW, drive through, and take it home for ambiance(or tacos to the office). You will be the hero, because their food is amazingly simple and homemade and mouth watering. There’s a reason they use pictures on their window and menu. My hubbs takes the kiddo here for«breakfast with Daddy… Grandparents…Mommy…Veteran’s» days at school. Why subject yourself to elementary lunchroom breakfast? TIP: Get both salsas and experiment. But don’t say I didn’t warn you…

Honestly, I’ve had better. The service was just ok. The lady at the cashier didn’t seem that interested to take our order. They also ran out of a certain meat we requested. I ordered a burrito at a cheap price, which I liked! I like that the fillings inside were simple ingredients: lettuce, tomato, avocado, meat. I did not like the flour tortilla. It was thick textured and pretty dry. The environment looked ok, I suppose as expected from an «authentic-looking» Mexican restaurant: colorful/bright colors, a little religious in their décor, Coca Cola glass bottles in the fridge. This is a place where you just want to get take out or a quick bite to eat. It looks like a place where it’s okay to pick up your food wearing pajamas. They seemed clean. The bathroom was a little too warm, which can be a concern because of potential germs/lurking bugs. I don’t know if I would want to come back again.

Had some breakfast tacos on corn tortillas. Wasn’t happy with the bean & cheese because the beans weren’t hot enough so that the cheese could melt– boooo! Machacado(dried beef, pico & egg). Husband had the nopales(cactus) & egg & something else. We haven’t been in a while but I think its a hit & miss. I used to pick up tacos for work & they were usually pretty good. I’ll give it another try one of these days.

So had breakfast here and chose to go with the chorizo n egg plate. Good ratio chorizo n egg. Beans n excellently done fried breakfast potatos with side of flour tortillas all for $ 3.99. Service friendly but slow. No coffee refill offered. Inside of place looked like it had been painted with orange n green paint by five yr olds who forgot to finish the job. Haha. I give this place 3 forks on a scale of 1 – 5. Not bad for a hole in the wall taco place on a street with 5 others on the same street within 1 mile.

Meh. Enough said. Well, not really. It really is a hole in the wall place. It looks like it’s an old Jack in the Box or something. It’s clean, and the service is fast. The prices are cheap. The salsas are weak. The orange one was interesting, but not great. There was a red one too, but again, nothing memorable. The waitress never brought me a menu, and acted surprised that I might want to look at one. She seemed impatient, so I just came up with tacos. They brought me three pretty small ones, but they were decent. I think the tortillas had been made on site. I never got a refill of water, which was annoying. I saw other customers looking around for a refill on the coffees, but never got any either. It’s a good place to go if you’re not looking for stellar food, but need it fast and cheap. The décor was nice, I liked the paintings of Mexican food on the windows. So I guess I didn’t really need a menu, since there were such colorful depictions on the windows. When I paid up at the cashier, they tried to talk me out of the pennies in my change. «You don’t need those, riiight?»

Meh, I had very high hopes for this place, but seriously disappointed in the food department. Do get me wrong, it would do the job if you were in dyer need of carne guisada, but it lacked the love needed to make Mexican food special. On a positive note, they do have a nice Mexican beer selection, but with the amount of much better taco joints in the area, this Unilocaler is heading elsewhere.

Tried this place out in my quest to try a new Mexican restaurant for breakfast every week. A former Dairy Queen turned into a Taqueria, Huentitan Jalisco is an okay choice to get your breakfast on. Let me break it down: Carne Guisada: guisada sauce was watery but the meat was very tender. Overall, it lacked a little in the spice category. I have had much better Carne Guisada, so pass on this one. Chorizo & Bean: In one word; excellent. The Chorizo had a zesty flavor. Chorizo was not too salty, meaty and surprisingly, was not greasy. Bean & Cheese: cheese just okay. Beans needed some spice or salt. Chicharron con salsa: perfect mix of crunchy and softness. Salsa not too spicy and it complimented the chicharrones very well. Potato & egg: potatoes were cooked just right and had a very palatable flavor. My taco was loaded with more potatoes than egg, which is a plus in my book. Red and green salsas: red had no flavor. Green was spicy and had just the right amount of heat. It complimented the chorizo and bean taco best San Antonio is the Mexican restaurant capital of the world, and there are plenty of good places to choose from. This place is something to keep in mind.

I don’t know what they do to their refried beans, but I might be addicted to the plain bean and cheese nachos.(And they’ve got the good green sauce… the pica stuff.) This is not a fancy place; don’t go here for ‘atmosphere’(it’s in an old Dairy Queen)…and they’re not compiling statistics on how fast the drive-thru moves, but everything I’ve had is good and the prices are fairly low. Spanish is the dominant language, sodas come in cans, and signs are on posterboard… that’s what you’ll get here — a small family joint with friendly service and good food. update: my mom told me the waitresses call me «nachos» because I ALWAYS get them
