Taco Cabana

Taco Cabana is amazing and I love it, but I have to say that this is the SLOWEST taco cabana ever! Been here since 10:15 and now it’s 11:09. For fast food Mexican food? Really? The staff here is a great example of how to NOT manage your time well!
It’s now 11:13 and they brought the food. My order was wrong. Apparently the computer went down and the order was lost. What a great excuse for poor service! Will not be returning to this poor location. Should’ve gone to the one off Broadway which is vastly superior to this crap hole… (I love taco cabana, just not this one!)

The new manager (6 months or so) has attitude and a listening problem. Food is no different than any other location.

If you are closed because your computer system crashes, don’t waste people’s time. Shut off your sign or lights so people don’t park and walk up to a locked door. 5 other cars of people besides myself and who knows how many others just wasted time and effort because your computer systems are unreliable.

One reason I look forward to my visits to San Antonio is because I can satisfy my Tex-​Mex cravings and for years — decades — Taco Cabana has been the place. But sadly, yesterday will be my last visit to Taco Cabana. It was too disappointing. Enough said.

Typical TCs experience and food. We went during Friday lunch. It got crowded quickly after we ordered. Dining room was small and there was a patio, but it was too hot and humid to sit outside. So the dining room got very quickly cramped. It was hard to move amongst the tables. Staff was great. I was given the wrong food and it was quickly replaced.

Insane wait in the drive thru. Huge order was holding everyone up and they didn’t drive them up. We then got home and the order was all wrong.

My girlfriend and I decided to stop into Taco Cabana after a night of hanging out on the town and stopped by the closest location near our party. We ended up on San Pedro around 0100 and were happy to know that the place was open for 24 hours.
We browsed the menu and ended up choosing the Steak and tacos combo and I added the sweet cinnamon treats to my meal. The price was right, but my food was wrong. I didn’t want to complain and I usually do, but the steak just didn’t taste right. The tortilla had a funny doughy taste that seemed gritty but my friend seemed to enjoy her meal. I wasn’t feeling my usual combative self and just wanted something in my stomach to combat the stomach acid from a night of being out too late.
The outside was filthy, it took a minute to find a table that was clean and not littered with trash. It was dead slow and 3 customers were inside. Several people were behind the register and the manager served us and was very nice. I would at least expect on a slow night that someone would be wiping tables and cleaning the store. The server was nice enough to bring us our meal and eventually someone decided to come out with a broom and cloth to wipe tables. It wasn’t that busy, to be that dirty. Hate to say that I won’t be returning to this location.

I love me some TC, but why is it when I go to TC in San Antonio, the food is better, and it cost less? Anyway, had the normal breakfast, bean and cheese taco, chorizo, egg, and cheese taco, and barbacoa and cheese. Yum, Yum Yum!

Comments, I can see that they’re outdated and are of no use for the establishment as of 2014. I won’t beat around the bush and neither should you as a consumer and critic, so I will begin.
First off! I am, or should I say. WAS, a regular customer since I lived and worked along San Pedro. My girlfriend knows of the manager Cassandra and lets just say, a very rich past this one has, but I’ll keep this somewhat professional.
I have had the pleasure of experiencing the rude staff who are utterly almost mentally incapable of creating simple, unauthentic, Mexican food. The individual on the intercom, on multiple occasions, just didn’t know how to use the device… or was just half-#%*ing. The people just sounded like they hated themselves, or their jobs. maybe both.
Anyways, so I get the usual, and a not so very complex order of bean and cheese tacos. Every time I had went, the cheese was NOT melted or it just seemed like they opened the bag and just. you know what. I can’t even explain how it wouldn’t be melted. it’s Like they had my tacos sitting there and then put the cheese before handing to me. They also tend not to give you the items you specifically order. such as.ohhhh.I don’t know… lemons or hot sauce, which I clearly state I want after the ordering is done.
BONUS:It’s most likely the douche – and I do mean that with my most sincere respect– at the cashier, around 12:00pm, with glasses thats always gots a dumb smirk on his face, as if he is simultaneously judging you while he works his high-​hoarse job. That was a joke.
Lets continue. More than three times our main dishes were not what we had ordered or they had put in the delicacy we clearly don’t like and stated so. The manager handled it by giving us free meal cards for 2. but for that location and to my surprise… they were messed up again! Way to go with the customer service.
I’m happy and safe to say, I don’t eat there anymore and neither should you. Sorry not sorry.

quick review for a short trip — everything within this visit seemed above board and well deserving at least a 4 star review for cleanliness, service, quick response time, and great food!
Keep it up and we will be back for more!

It’s Taco Cabana, the go to for fast tex-​mex at arguably exorbitant prices.

Just like your regular Taco Cabana you love. Great food, great prices, fresh piping hot, and served with a smile.

This Taco C got a face lift and is easily one of the most enjoyable TC’s I’ve been to. Deff my fav now!
Not only did they get a fresh coat of paint, new tables/​chairs, flat screen on the wall, and updated salsa bar but they’ve also redone how you get your food. Like all TC’s you walk in and order at the front register but then they give you a number to take to your table and the food’s brought to you. This is the first time I’ve experienced and it’d be great if all TC’s went this way.
The staff was super friendly and the food came out hot, fast, and fresh. Dining room was clean and comfortable as well.
All of us SA folks eat at TC, but this location will change the way you see the restaurants.
