Can’t beat the prices! We went at 6 and were able to enjoy the happy hour frozen margaritas(delicious)! The food was amazing. I’m looking for excuses to visit San Antonio again just to go to Sancho’s again. 3 drinks, appetizer and meals for under $ 40!

Hubs and I made this our date destination. so happy we did. The salsas were some of the best we’ve had. I had the bistec Street tacos and they were ahmazeballs. hubby had the pastor and he was disappointes. I think the difference between pork pastor and chicken is a big one and they weren’t as good as their pork counterparts. all in all a very comfy place with live music and not fussy food. We loved it.

This place was tiny. Literally a hole in the wall, which is fine if that’s what i was looking for. I walked in and instantly felt uncomfortable. There is no parking available, at all. No one was there to tell us where to sit. A crap hole. Maybe the food and drinks are good, i wouldn’t know, i can’t get past the emptiness and small space.

This place is a cool place to drink. The food we did get was cold and hard from sitting out I’m guessing. The service was so slow even though we sat inside by the bar. we ended up going up to the bar to order drinks a couple times and then the waitress would get annoyed. She forgot some of our parties drink orders multiple times. There is tons of flies inside. And it was so hot inside we were sweating.

Loved this dive that I read about through a Facebook article! We decided to go to it on a Saturday afternoon after eating at the Cove nearby multiple times! When we got there it was pretty empty… around 5:30. The waitress was really sweet and attentive. I decided to get the Avacado margarita which was frozen and delicious ! Definitely unique and now a favorite of mine. A small but good menu of different mixed drinks… tacos and tortas. I had the shrimp tacos and they come in a baby tortilla with about 5 to a plate. Spicy and tasteful. My boyfriend had pork tacos and a Moscow mule. We loved the chill atmosphere and the band playing outside was perfect for a summer afternoon. I can’t wait to go back as it started to pick up as we left around 7. Love SA finds!

Totally delicious! Had to wait kind of a long time just for two orders of tacos(one beef, the other vegetarian) but both were totally worth the wait. Both were phenomenal and all of the salsas are great, especially the green one. Love the atmosphere and music in here, too! If it weren’t so hot out during the day I’d wanna go for the rooftop or patio seating.

Interesting spot for drinks and tacos. If I would have gone just for drinks, I would have given it 4 stars. They have outside and inside sitting. They also have rooftop sitting, but we realized we were going to wait a long time to be waited on upstairs. As soon as we sat inside, a waitress came to our table. We started out with the shrimp balls. You get three good sized balls with the order. They are crispy and with just the right flavor. They are on the spicy side. The vegetarian nachos were just ok. Nothing to write home about. The tortillas for the tacos were super. I loved that they were homemade. The carnitas tacos were good. The vegetarian tacos were a let down. It was bean and cheese with avocado. My boyfriend was super disappointed with the borracho beans. Think ranch style beans. They didn’t have any meat in them. The drinks were ok. We enjoyed the Rita Rita. It had avocado in it. The pomegranate margarita was more juice than anything else. The chocolate sancho was yummy! Our waitress was on point. She was always there when we needed her. Our food and drinks came out in a timely manner.

An off the beaten path eatery for late night owls looking for great tacos and cocktails. Their chicken al pastor tacos were out of this world! Would definitely come back for the tacos.

We tried tacos and tortas… Everything was delicious and the Mexican Mule cocktail was great too. They have live music and a comfortable backyard. It is not a fancy place, but it’s perfect to spend a nice afternoon.

We tried out this place about a month ago on a Fri night at about 10pm. We sat at bar & tall slender bartender never acknowledged us. There was only around 4 people at bar(in the inside.) We left after 10−15min. Will try again but not in a hurry to do so. Came back to give place a 2nd try. Friday night again & it’s 11:40, sat on outside bar this time. They acknowledged us but never asked what we wanted or if we were ready. Bartender reached over us 10min later to hand food to nearby patron, we asked her for a beer. Seemed annoyed. lol Asked if I wanted my $ 1.50 change… we always tip but found it weird for them to ask.

The tacos at Sancho’s are to die for; they’re a must have. Happy hour deals here are also A+. Different all-day drink specials are posted throughout the week. Only come here if you enjoy live music, good drinks, and stellar customer service.

Ok, I’m breaking my own scoring rule here. Normally, to get 5 stars, everything that I try must be groundbreaking and delicious; so much so, that I long to return and have it again. I was not overly impressed by the tortas. But… and here’s the big«but»… the tacos… were probably the best street tacos I’ve ever had. Hands down. I’ve been to SoCal, and they’re great there, but these tacos are just… better. I’ll come back to them in a bit. So, this is basically a local(dare I say hipster?) bar. The tables are out in the dirt. There are dogs. But all of that seems to just be ok. I mean, if your food and libations excel, the surrounding don’t matter too much. Add to it, that the surround fences had ivy growing and the place had a general«I don’t give a fuck if you like me or not» flair. There was no server\waitress or hostess, and the food was served on paper plates. Yet, somehow, the tacos were some holy grail, next level stuff. So, here’s the breakdown of what I tried: — al pastor tacos — carne asada tacos — I don’t know the name, but it had chicken and pineapple tacos — tortas My wife also had the bloody mary, which she claims was good, but not the best she’s ever had(not my words). I don’t remember which tacos were which, but some of them were a bit spicy(which I love) and more than a couple of them were a bit sweet(which I also love). There was even some curtido and guacamole served on the side. I wanted more. I ate until I couldn’t eat anymore. I had to walk away in shame, because despite my best efforts, I could not relent to the demands of food this good. I will be back. I will have this again. This food has the mark of greatness that summons up desire that which can only be satisfied in one place. Until next time Sanchos, we will meet again.

I LOVE this place! It’s super close to where I work so my coworker’s have added it to our list of favorite lunch spots. Their margaritas are AMAZING too. SOGOOD. The place looks super small from the outside but it’s surprisingly super airy and open once you’re inside. They did a great job with using the space creatively. Great food. Great drinks. Great innovation.
Favorite drink: Spicy Sancho Favorite dish: literally everything on the menu

Great food and drinks, friendly people, live music and reasonable prices!!! What more could you ask for!!! Maybe better parking options? The carnitas tacos were delicious! No issues with«special ordering»(no onions) and speedy service. I enjoyed the avocado margarita too. Refreshing, smooth and deliciously creamy. Come here, bring your friends and enjoy the great vibe!

Avocado margaritas! *chicken* al pastor tacos!! Sometimes a girl just needs some sancho in her life to mix things up and keep it exciting :) Just down the block from The Cove(can you intermingle beer between venues, I wonder?? They only serve Mexican lagers at Sancho’s, and the novelty of my annual Pacifico has already worn off. Either way, something of a moot point… that avocado Margarita seriously curled my toes.) Seriously delicious food and drink, lovely shaded patio, adorable little old guy spinning 70’s soul vinyl inside, fantastic roof deck above. I just can’t keep this sancho a secret!

Awesome service! Better food than last! Stopped in on a Monday evening, where they offered happy hour all night for cyclists! AWESOME! They also started offering awesome music by DJ SteReyo after 9pm. Reserve happy hour from 9pm-12! Service: The first time I came I had a male«bartender» this time, the female bartender was amazing!(8⁄109pm) She offered us the happy hour specials for being a cyclists immediately and described the food menu in its entirety. Food: WOW, much much better than the first time I came. I tried the pork carnitas and had no regrets! the mini tacos were stuffed, juicy and the tortillas were soft and fresh(unlike my first visit). The«male bartender» was actually running the food this time, he did a much better job than bar-tending! Drinks: 2 $ frozen ritas — you cannot go wrong! AND they stock Topo Chico! Will return! Continue offering cyclists specials and the DJ!(Owner: try adding some soft music on the roof-top)

My 5 stars are for ambiance and friendliness of the staff I didn’t eat but I did take a sample of the Avocado Frozen Margarita so I might order that next time I’m there. From the pics, the food looks good. I talked to one of the guys there who told me a little history of the place. It used to be an old house they converted into this little bar and restaurant. Menu is small which is totally ok… you are at a bar so you really don’t need to offer much. From what my friend said, they only carry Mexican beer. I saw on the menu a lot of tequila cocktails. Oh and the artwork is fun to look at. Thu night special is $ 2 Pacifico but when I went to order one, they were out… with no replacement beer option for the special and the sign was still up. Please erase the board so it doesn’t lead to disappointment is all that I am saying. We got lucky tonight, Cool breeze on a June night with no rain… Lots of outdoor seating… and they even have a rooftop patio with picnic tables with a great view of downtown SA, see pics! The music was the reason that brought me to Sancho’s. My friends, Picklefish, played a gig there so I was excited to be there while checking out a new hot spot in town. I can see this being a popular place. Great job Sancho’s!!!
