Uh yes! For a small«venue» the acoustics are really good in here. I’m not the typical metal head by any means, but I do enjoy having my face melted from time to time. This place delivers. Dude to the stage taking up about ¼ of the building(bar ¼ too) it makes for a very animated and entertaining musical experience. Patrons and staff were welcoming to an outsider such as myself and I really enjoyed the night’s bands. Plus, they offer a full bar which is fantastic. I enjoy my beer, but sometimes like to get started with something a bit stronger. Usually spots like this just stick to well shots and domestic beers. Also, I really liked that they have a HUGEHDTV above the bar. Watching the Spurs with ear blasting tunes is seriously the way to go. Looking forward to checking this place out again in the future. Really looking forward to Midget Wrestling later on this month too! Only gripe, if any would be(1) Parking situation(2) Cover charge. Not a huge fan of cover charges.

I haven’t been here in quite a while, used to do some stand-up comedy there late, late Thursday nights. This is a headbanging crowd, mainly heavy metal and hard rock, but have seen some alternative acts there and even rockabilly. I noticed they’ve had some hip-hop shows. On Thursdays, they used to have Stand-Up and Rock where comics would go up and do their sets in between music acts. It’s dark and definitely divey, but interesting and open to trying new things. The owner I think owns an art gallery and is into promoting art and different types of expressive and performing art. It’s a cool place to chill, relax and just kinda forget about your troubles for a spell. They used to have 2 dollar tallboys, I think they’re renovated it somewhat, have to go check it out sometime.

Decent little venue for some intimate sounds. The booze is reasonably priced and the staff is friendly.

I think San Antonio has been typecasted as a rock/metal town, to a certain degree, to our betterment or sometimes our detriment. Given that perception the Nightrocker’s Live is one of the clubs in this city that celebrates, even embraces that notion of our town.
Nestled near SAC and hidden by a Weinerschnitzel is a black façade with a Nightrocker sign, you can’t miss from the street. Although it is kinda looks like a biker/ten-speed biker hub don’t let this fool you. Inside is a lounge with artwork on the walls by local artists. The bar is pretty bare bones, Lonestar brewskies at an El Cheapo price of two dollars! The bartender the night I went was pretty dang good as I saw her move from one side, taking orders, to my side in like 2 seconds flat.
On this night I saw a diverse crowd: metalheads, Danzig~wasteoids, tattoo artists, poets, young, old, cholos, downtown workers, Johnny Cash worshippers and even business suits. It’s nice to go somewhere and not feel like you are walking into a club with some secret password! Another great thing about it is the sound and PA System! It is really top-notch and the bands sound amazing there! Although it does get crowded on any given night and can get loud, you can always take your brews outside and carry on your conversation about which was the best Van Halen album. My only little, itsy, bitsy critique of it is that I would like to see more craft beers, still this is a working man’s club and no sommelier is going to recommend a pinot grigio to you. If you and your friends are looking to have a rocking good time at El Cheapo prices go check out this place. At least you’ll recognize someone there that still goes to the shows at The Sunken Gardens. Guaranteed.

Julia M. Sums Nightrocker Live up pretty well. You respect the local music lover in their live venue efforts and also must remember to support places like this! They some how book bands from your past and the bands you’ve been missing out on the same nights which is pure brilliance! The look of the interior and exterior change on the band of the night. Some times they have all the loungey couches inside for small intimate comedy nights and singer nights. Other nights that pack the place have a fenced extended«patio» outside area with the loungey couches moved there. You’ll pretty find your mix of people here too. The local rocker known to the scene or 20 years, the parents of the local musician playing the set, middle aged 40s-50s rockers, 21 yrs to 30s enjoy this venue on a regular basis. Now the bathroom being cute is very questionable. Maybe when it first opened, but the leopard pink print drape hiding the cleaning products is an eye sore. In fact that whole bathroom situation reminds me of the grunginess of the White Rabbits early years(not cute). It all boils down to the music. Lean on a pillar, grab a stool or couch, watch their interesting pick of movie and maybe buy some of those ear plugs they offer. You will enjoy yourself.

This venue is the eponymous brainchild of a die-hard long-time local music promoter, and it shows. The sound system hits heavy, and this place gets the basics right: big stage, chill lounge, and ohh yeah – the bar. The bartenders are predominantly cute and female, and can be counted on to pour heavy, well-crafted drinks. This is honestly the only place in town that I’ve had a SoCo with lime done right. Two-dollar Lone Star tallboys certainly don’t hurt the situation. The indoor lounge is thankfully secluded from the raucously packed dance floor, a pimp-worthy arrangement of understated black leather couches. Another, informal outdoor seating area is a welcome respite for my ringing ears. I’m not normally the picky type, but their ladies restroom is alarmingly cute, resplendent in pink leopard print. The music lineup varies considerably, leaning heavily on the rawk side. Clearly, this venue is all about details done right, and I hope to have the pleasure of stopping in again and again for beers and margaritas when I hit up olde SA-town.
