I just LOVE this place, it’s ridiculous. Especially for a snack after a couple of «day-drinks» at the nearby strip of bars. How can you go wrong with a very reasonably priced 5-pack of mix and match corn dogs or chili dogs? Their chili dogs are so soft and delicious that they practically melt in your mouth. Don’t go and start devouring them fresh out the drive thru because trust me, you will burn yourself. Their chili just has this flavor that has me coming back for more! Always tasty and blistering hot. Their corn dogs are a good combination of fluffy yet crispy. Slather some ketchup and mustard on there and you’ve got yourself a treat. If you wanna get real wild, ask them for a little cup of mayo to dip your corn-dog in. Their $ 9.99 family combos are excellent if you’ve got a couple of buddies with you to split the cost with(assuming they are not broke lol) and as for your sweet tooth, they’ve got daily specials on everything from ice cream cones to sundaes. When it comes to getting your whistle wet, they’ve got an eclectic array of soft drinks available. I recently tried a desert pear fizzer and that was great! Their flavored lemonades are also yummy. And of course, they’ve always got the friendliest ladies working there. I recently discovered that if the mood is right, you can ask for a doggie treat and you will get a piping hot der wiener for your four-legged friend to devour! When my puppy chulo is happy, I’m happy, and I’m glad to say that Wienerschnitzel makes us happy!

One of the most disappointing things in life is when a childhood memory is spoiled. Like when I learned my little dog Pepper didn’t really go away to a farm to live out in the country.(No joke, this really happened to me.) Another of my favorite childhood memories was ruined this week when I ate lunch at Wienerschnitzel. At Wienerschnitzel, everything begins and ends with the chili dog. I don’t care if they also served the best lobster and tapas in town, if the chili dog isn’t right then there’s no reason to come here. I loved this place when I was a kid, but the quality of their product is unrecognizable from those visits of my youth. If you’ve seen the picture I snapped, you know what the chili dog looks like — it comes in a paper wrapper that when unfurled reveals a wet sloppy mess of a mystery meat dog with some sort of runny chili-flavored sauce spilled over the top of the wrinkled bun.(If you look closely you can see I actually wiped up some of the slop before taking the shot so the picture wouldn’t be nauseating to view.) The fries were utterly bland and tasteless — the salt I sprinkled on them was by far their best feature. And don’t even get me started on their corndogs — I don’t know what’s in them, and I don’t want to know what’s in them. Wienerschnitzel offers a few new somewhat interesting menu items such as a pile of chili cheese fries with pastrami or bacon & ranch, and one of my old favorites the Polish sausage sandwich, plus dessert from their combined Tastee Freeze franchise. However, I now know what the«chili» tastes like, and I’m certain the pictures on the in-store marketing posters for these items are likely just as grievously misleading as the absurdly attractive pictures of their chili dogs which needless to say looked absolutely nothing like the hot mess I ate for lunch. And to add insult to injury, this particular location is located in a(I’m looking for a nice way to say it…) less than desirable part of town. Because of this, the restrooms are locked and you’ll need a key to use them, you’ll find yourself looking over your shoulder with every other bite to make certain nobody is sneaking up on you from behind, and you’ll want to keep an eye on your car — easier said than done due to the shape of their parking lot. If you’re familiar with the types of restaurants I frequent, you know I’m not a food snob, I love a fast food burger or dog and fries as much as anyone, probably more than anyone. But take my advice, if you have a good childhood memory of Wienerschnitzel, please stay away from this dumpster fire and keep your memories intact.

Best place to stop by for a quick snack, you can never go wrong with Der Wiener. I really just absolutely love their $ 5 combo where you can score a combination of, you guessed it, 5 corn dogs or chili dogs. I’ve tried a lot of other items on their menu and even though I can’t really remember them, I know they were delicious :) They make everything pretty much to-order because it usually takes a minute or two and the food is always piping hot when it comes out so be careful not to burn yourself! Buy a golden wiener and put it on your antenna for a couple of days! Tip: if the lobby is closed, I usually just park the car and sit at their patio!

This is the only Wienerschnitzel I’ve ever been too, and I only ended up here because I needed something quick that I could eat while driving(the glamorous life of a CM). Enter, corny dog! It’s no State Fair of Texas corny dog, but it certainly gets the job done the other 11 months out of the year. The girl taking drive through orders was really friendly, and judging by the amount of time it took to get my dog and the fact that the roof of my mouth is still tingling… I think they made it fresh! The breading had a hint of sweetness and was crispy and moist at the same time. Fries were nothing special, very reminiscent of Mickey D’s skinny and salties.

I grew up with Wienerschnitzel my whole life. I moved to Texas and What no wienerschnitzel??? But some crap called James Coney Island. The hot dogs where smaller, the chili needed salt and the price was 2 times more then Wienerschnitzel. My husband and I moved to San Antonio last year and found there were 2 Wienerschnitzels here. The one on San Pedro is a better location and the Chili is the same as I remember. You can not go wrong having some Chili Cheese fries with a 10 pack of Chili dogs. This is the best place for Chili Dogs.

Ugh. Absolutely standard hot dogs with nothing special on them. Plain store-bought buns, plain dogs… why couldn’t they at least have some kind of spices or something? Also, the fries are often cold and unseasoned. Totally not worth it.
