One word«yummy». The half sandwich and soup lunch special is delicious. Just the right amount of food with great flavor.

Best steak I had ever had in my life. During my visit to River Walk years ago, my wife and I stopped by Salt Grass restaurant hoping for a good lunch. Right on! The gigantic juice streak was placed on our table and we started eating it. No time to waste but just to dig in. Wow! Wow! No words would not be able to describe it. Just finished in a blink of eyes and satisfied our hunger. Now I am back in town in So. Cal, but I’d love to go back to San Antonio just for the steak!

Really great food! I ordered a Salad, steak, and tortilla soup, all of which were very tasty and seasoned perfectly. The servings were the right size and I left feeing satisfied and not gross. The ambiance is perfect for tourists because it has a fun Texas theme that makes you feel like you are in an old western movie!

Having worked in the food service myself, I’m very disappointed that this was probably the worst meal I have ever had. We ordered drinks and didn’t get them until our meal arrived. The margarita was all mix, and the sangria was so watered down you could see through it. The tortilla chips were soggy. Steak was undercooked, sent back to the kitchen(15 minutes passed) and the steak was still completely raw. For almost $ 30 a plate it was absolutely ridiculous.

Our server Daniel was very attentive and took great care of us We had the sirloin and a salad. The salad was cold, crispy and very tasty with crunchy, buttery croutons, cheese and the perfect amount of dressing. Our steaks were cooked to perfection, tender and flavorful and the beer was muy frio. This was a great value!

Worst service of my life. Our waitress just wouldn’t stop apologizing. Overcooked steaks, forgotten drinks, everything that could be done poorly, was. Came her for a very special birthday meal and left feeling very disappointed. I don’t know if I will ever eat at a Landry’s location again. When I ordered my steak rare, the server looked at me so weird and said ‘girls usually never order it rare’. Terrible terrible service. Unmemorable food.

Can’t recommend. Save your money and go to McDonalds. The food is about the same quality, but the Golden Arches usually have better service. Seriously. It’s a chain restaurant in a tourist trap. The restaurant is understaffed and the beef is low quality. Soup was cold. Drinks didn’t arrive until I was done eating my salad. For some reason one of the salads arrived about 10 minutes after the rest. Sweet potato wasn’t cooked. Someone’s fish was cold when it arrived. Just a very disappointing experience.

I ate here this afternoon with my husband. We had a wonderful lunch. The service was excellent, food was great and the drinks delicious. I highly recommend this place and I know we will be going back.

A fantastic steak house on the riverwalk. I had the NY strip and it was cooked to perfection. A great potato soup to start set up the great steak with garlic mash! A nice bottle of red to make it that bit better The service was fantastic and helpfull by vicente, and the location on the riverwalk made it that bit extra. Great price and def worth the visit. Price makes it more recommend than the more expencive steak houses on the river. So good iv been back!

I love Saltgrass, but after a few years away from Texas, my return to this restaurant saw not satisfactory. I sat at the bar, was ignored by the two bartenders who reluctantly took my order. I had a margarita which was«ok» a Cesar salad which was absolutely horrible. It was warm, floppy and what seemed to be a dirty smuggled plate.(Im pretty sure this caused my upset stomach for the next few days) along with that I ordered a chicken fried steak and loaded baked potato, both of which were«ok» took too long to come to me, and could have been hotter, if it was really fresh. A tourist place, and a waste of money. I wouldn’t waste time to give it another chance…

Riverwalk wasn’t all that busy when I went(shortly after a hailstorm), but this place had a half hour wait. Being one person, I just sat at the bar. Everyone soon left the bar when their tables were called, so I get the feeling my wait would have been a lot shorter. I can’t really comment on atmosphere as a result. I can say that the beer selection is underwhelming. Only four on tap, with the Sam Adams seasonal out, so that left me pretty much forced to have the Shiner Bock(which is utterly drinkably delicious so I’m not upset at all). Well, I came for steak, and I got steak. I ordered rare. It came out blue-rare and limp. That’s fine, I’d estimate a majority of steakhouses bring things out a little underdone at first. When they refired it, it came out exactly rare and with a nice, solid sear on the outside. A much higher quality steak as a result. I had the 16 oz ribeye. There were a couple of fat pockets but all in all a very well executed steak. It came with an opening salad, which was nicely put together, and I got garlic mashed potatoes as a side — creamy, but not terribly garlicky. Overall I was pleasantly surprised, based on the variations in reviews I saw here. I got very good service at the bar, though I was the only one there. If I want a Riverwalk steak that doesn’t break the bank, this is probably the spot.

Awesome steak. Fast service. A little pricey but hey it’s a steak house. I live her and hate going to the river walk for anything but I live too close. The waiter was fine, a little loud for my taste. This is the type of service expected though, over the top. The place looks a little worn. Ask to sit outside during nicer days, it’s a pretty view.

Came on a Saturday night which I know is very busy. Finally sat my party of 7 on a very small table but it worked. Server was ok but pretty slow in getting drinks, appetizers, etc. Then the fun started. There were 3 orders of blackened fish and the server after waiting about 20 minutes said they there would be a delay in getting more fish of about 34 minutes. We agree that was fine. The wait was much longer that 34 more minutes but the food finally came out. A medium well steak was cooked very rare. Then the fish felt really cold. All 3 plates seemed really cold. The steak person asked for A-1 and never arrived. The part that got us over the top was the fish. One of the fish was completely raw. Consuming raw fish is very dangerous. It was disgusting and I even have pictures. Talked to the manager and he took the fish plates off the ticket because not one of us ate after that. Did nothing to rectify the situation as well. Let a party leave upset and hungry. That was after being in there for more than two hours. We have been to this location and it has been ok before but this one was bad. Wish I could post the picture of the raw fish.

Gotta eat dinner at Saltgrass once while you’re on the Riverwalk to get a proper meat-binge in(though there is a Fogo de Chao just off the Riverwalk now, if you really want to binge). It was busy-busy-busy when we arrived, but they took our name and told us they’d text us when our table was ready, so we were able to check out a few local shops while we waited. Traditional steak-joint fare — start with soup or salad, then get a steak(or other main course, but it’s a steak house, so do the right thing and order a steak!). I ordered the ribeye. It was tasty, cooked to the proper(RARE) temperature, and, did I mention tasty? Got the mac-n-cheese for a side. Just the thing on a cold December evening. Good gluten-free options, too. Give them a try!

This is the restaurant we chose to celebrate my little sister’s graduation from the BMT program at Lackland AFB and subsequent enlistment into the USAF. We were seated quickly on the balcony terrace above the flow of traffic on the Riverwalk itself. The spot could not have been more picturesque. The weather was lovely, but there was a chill in the air, so after a few requests, the heating torch nearest our table was lit. Everyone but me ordered steak and they were all very happy with them. I noted that the medium rare was done exactly as I would have wanted it cooked. Alas, I ordered coconut shrimp and BBQ baby back ribs. The shrimp were fine, but the ribs were decidedly not«fall off the bone» tender. Of note — the server was less than stellar. He came back several times to ask what we had ordered. I asked for a short shiner and he brought me a tall. Just little things like that, and nothing major, but not great.

Arrived at the Saltgrass steakhouse about 6:00 on Halloween night. Like lots of places along the Riverwalk, here was outdoor seating along the Riverwalk as well as an upstairs dining room and a downstairs dining room. This is one of those places that has an entire upstairs dining room with no one in it and the hostess said that it was a half hour wait. She told me it was a reserved section, so one would assume there was a huge party about to come in. We went downstairs to the bar to grab a drink. Then they sent us a text that said our table was ready and to visit the hostess stand. So we walked back up the stairs and the hostess told us that our table was outside and to go back down the stairs and visit the downstairs hostess stand.(Annoying) The décor is typical of a Texas Steak house chain. It’s what it needs to be. I ordered a dirty martini, which was very good. My entrée was the 9 oz. prime rib with a loaded backed potato. The loaded baked potato was loaded with butter, chives, bacon bits sour cream and it was excellent. The prime rib was cooked medium rare and was very good. I really enjoyed the meal. For the record, when we left, we had to walk back up on the street to get our Über, and there was still no sign of anyone in the dining area upstairs. Although this, the hostess and the hostess situation was all a little annoying, i would definitely come back. After all, I was there for a steak. The rest is the experience. So they don’t get 5 stars, but I did get a good meal.

The hubs and I are visiting from Oregon, are on day 6 of our Texas vacation and in our second city. We were wanting something that wasn’t Mexicanish food so steak won over pasta for dinner. We had a 30 minute wait(they texted our cell when our table was ready) so we didn’t have to wait around at the restaurant which was awesome. The restaurant was full inside and outside and the bar was packed. We ordered the French fried onions — I’d eat more right now if I could — that came with a unique sauce that I would love to try to replicate for so many different things. I ordered the Bacon wrapped filet mignon with the blue cheese butter, sweet potato and Caesar salad. The hubs got the Maude’s best cut, loaded garlic mashers and tortilla soup. I have ZERO complaints. At all. Both steaks cut like butter, the flavors were delicious. All courses came out extremely fast for how full they were and our waiter was on point! The reason I rated 4 out of 5 is because the bathroom needs to step it up, décor didn’t match the food quality and the staff overall seemed rushed and needed to breathe and make it look a bit more seamless. All in all amazing. It’s worth the wait and if you get a seat outside, the view would be perfect since you are above the walk and wouldn’t have to deal with the foot traffic. Cheers!

Had dinner here with some friends. The atmosphere is very nice and the place was pretty busy. We opted to eat outside and enjoy the nice weather. There were 3 of us and we were seated immediately. We ordered appetizers; seafood fondue and artichoke dip. The seafood fondue was very good. Very creamy and cheesy and good portions of shrimp and vegetables. The artichoke dip was ok, but a bit on the bland side. For my main course I had the 22 ounce prime rib with steamed vegetables. This one one of the best steaks I have had in a long time. It caramel perfectly cooked at medium rare like I requested and very juicy and flavorful. The vegetables were nicely steamed and not overlooked. Overall, the service was good and the people friendly. And we were seated in a timely manner and our appetizers and food came to us in a timely manner. I am happy to say I would definitely come back and eat here.
