First time diners(went for belated Mother’s Day/Father’s Day celebration). The staff were friendly and solicitous — checked several times to see how we were doing(but for most of our stay we were the only customers in that part of the restaurant). Room is a bit dark — had to use a small flashlight to read the small print menu(but we are also senior citizens. so the lighting may have been for younger eyes). The background music could be distracting at times, but as mentioned, the restaurant was almost empty, so the music was more noticeable. The menu presented a fairy good range of options, including price ranges(though it was all upper moderate in price, but not too many things that seemed exorbitantly priced). My wife had a salmon appetizer that she didn’t realize was not going to be cooked(we think it was like smoked salmon) — not much flavor, she said. I had a cold corn soup(special of the day) which was good but not outstanding. I also had duck breast which was a bit fatty, but the accompanying pureed potatoes were quite tasty.(the serving size on both items was a good portion). I really enjoyed my dessert: chocolate torte with homemade ice cream(something like butter brickle) and maybe caramel sauce — very rich and just the right size of dessert since it was so rich. Both of us had coffee at some point in the evening, and it was very good. I also had a glass of one of the house wines, which was also good. A few quibbles: first, there was no bread service(even though the table was set with small plates that in most places would be used for bread plates). If a restaurant of this caliber doesn’t want to bake its own bread, there are many excellent bakers in the city that they can obtain it from. I missed having bread with my meal!(And I think a dish such as soup calls for some kind of carb like bread or crackers to accompany it). Also, they brought out my entrée while I was still eating the soup; I prefer to have a short time lag between courses(plus the table was rather small, so it was hard to fit all the plates on it – including the apparently only for show bread plates!). The waitress also seemed in a hurry to remove plates and drinks without asking if I was done with them(and I usually wasn’t — a good waitperson knows certain signs that indicate that a patron is done eating or drinking something). Overall, a generally pleasant dining experience, but it wasn’t special enough to go back, especially since the bill, with tip, was around $ 105.00. A nice touch: they do validate the valet parking.

Is it fair to judge a restaurant based solely on a brunch experience??? If not, take this review with a grain of salt. Although, Feast, Stefan Bowers’ other restaurant in Southtown, is known for its brunch and I have to say that I like Feast better. We tried The Southerner which was soft scrambled eggs, roasted sweet potatoes, pepper sausage, and a biscuit(mentioning this b/c it was different than the online version of The Southerner). The soft scrambled eggs, to me, weren’t soft scrambled. They were slightly more runny on the surface than scrambled eggs but they were still over cooked, fluffy, and layered. This still makes for some tasty eggs(seasoning was impeccable) but they weren’t soft scrambled. The pepper sausage had so much pepper that it was a complete turn off(think peppery beef jerky flavor here), and the sausage was also shaped into what looked like those pre-packaged french toast sticks from the frozen section of the grocery store… so much handling of the meat made even fatty delicious sausage tough and hard to eat. The sweet potatoes were nicely seasoned and tasty albeit mushy, and the biscuit wasn’t really a biscuit at all. It ate more like a dry slice of brioche without as much butter. I also tried The Parisian(French Toast) which was good but the toast was over-soaked and very mushy in the middle(each piece). The caramelized rice crispi’s were tasty(not too sweet to combat the overall sweetness of the dish) and brought a much needed texture change due to the sogginess of the toast. The décor is a little out there(so is Feast) and reminded me of Katy Perry’s 2015 Super Bowl performance(yes the lion and all). Service was good. Overall, the experience wasn’t bad and we’ll definitely check it out for dinner soon.

My husband and I just spent Father’s Day weekend at the amazing St. Anthony Hotel and ate dinner both nights at Rebelle. I would have given them 5 stars after our first visit. The service was fast and friendly, and the food was top-notch. We started with the potted cheese, which came with toast and scorched grapes. It was surprisingly addictive and delicious. For mains, my husband got the goat shank, which came with lemon polenta. I usually don’t care for goat, but this was spectacular. I ended up stealing quite a few bites from his plate. I got the gnocchi with wild mushrooms, and it was by far the best gnocchi I’ve ever had. It was fried and crispy on the outside, creamy and delicate in the middle. For dessert, we shared the chocolate torte. Amazing. Get it. The next night, we hoped for a repeat experience, but it fell a bit short. Service was still very friendly, just a bit slow. We shared a really good romain salad, but the main courses of spinach crepes and duck breast were just okay. Overall, I would definitely return, if only for the gnocchi.

I definitely liked this place, but I wanted to like it more than I actually did. The atmosphere was not really my style, but I think they did a good job for what they are going for. It was a bit over-the-top for my tastes. I did enjoy being seated upstairs where we had a view overlooking the entire restaurant, and there was an outdoor patio that we liked going out on while waiting for our food. I found the host to be awesome – he was super nice and seemed happy to be at work. The waitress became increasingly nicer during the course of our meal. Our first interaction was not exceptionally friendly, but by the end she was very sweet. I ordered the duck and my fiancé, the curried beef. They were both good, but I think my fiancé loved his more than I loved mine. Still, I enjoyed it. Unfortunately, we ordered the crème brulee. Very disappointing. It was tobacco infused, but I don’t even know if that was the problem. It was salty and covered in fruit and meringue. For me, it was just too much going on. I couldn’t eat more than a couple of bites, and even that I was forcing myself. Extra points for free valet! That was nice.

Great atmosphere for a fun date night, not so much the intimate romantic type setting — fun was what we were looking for so it was perfect. Cocktails were good. Good wines on the wine list but not served in the right glasses — we don’t care about that, but for those who do, you’ve been warned. We liked: potted cheese was good. The octopus was excellent, but even better when you ask for a side of toasted bread to dip in the sauce because the sauce is amazing. We didn’t like the bone marrow. We have had bone marrow in Vietnamese and French restaurants; I mean to say we usually love bone marrow… But here it was strange tasting when they paired their bone marrow with capers, making it taste fishy.

Booked a large party for my birthday — food was mediocre at best — and at $ 50 for a filet, I would expect it to come with something other than meat and be the best steak ever. Gnocchi was delicious. We had two servers that were less than par. Asked for water 4 times after my glass sat empty for 20 minutes. Called the manager the next day, who took a week to return my call, and she could’ve cared less. Really disappointed. Haunt Bar was great before hand!

Absolutely amazing brunch. I had The Grand mimosa and my husband had The Saint. I had the Dutch, which were waffles and the hubs had The Burger, which of course was a burger. the plates were over flowing with food… the Dutch had two large waffles with a homemade vanilla whipped cream and a raspberry jam . let me just say yummy and I barely made it through the first waffle… the atmosphere was great! And I had my little one along and they accommodated him too… will for sure be coming here again!

Maybe it was because I was extremely hungry– but this meal was an absolute standout. I ordered the chicken entrée, but I’m gluten free, so I asked if I could sub the lemon infused polenta for the couscous — no problem! The meal was perfect, the chicken was cooked to perfection, the lemon polenta and mint leaves were amazing along with the prunes. For dessert i had an odd crème brûlée — tobacco infused. The tobacco infusion was just unecessary and for me, ruined the dish(like eating a cigarette). The waiter was super nice and the ambiance is very cool.

Sunday brunch was fab(although we had to walk past the St Anthony Hotel’s Sumptuous Mother’s Day buffet to get to Rebelle!). Lovely presentation, carefully prepared food, attentive staff. A little noisy for our taste, but I’m probably older than their target demographic. We will come again for dinner.

Quick tip: Free valet! Dramatic interior for a bold menu. The appetizers were a highlight for us: honey-glazed carrots over an olive tapenade went great with the spinach and cheese crepes and the special cheese dip accompanied by candied grapes.

Came here for Sunday Funday and the brunch is amazing! Our experience started off with being professionally greeted by the valet. The hostess was incredibly nice and gave us the option to choose one of the open tables that best fit us. The ambience is incredible with a super awesome DJ with music at the right volume. Our server was attentive and helpful from start to finish. And the food… OMG. We had the el gaucho, burger, benedictine, and French toast. Every single dish was Devine. Great portions, better flavors, and perfect pairings. The drinks were all delicious and not light on alcohol. $ 2 mimosas after a Spurs win definitely makes this place a go to during NBA season. I highly recommend this place for brunch. The food, drinks, and service make it worth the price. 5 stars.

I went back for dinner. The food was excellent, but inconsistent in quality control. All of our entrées were on point, but the other courses were not consistently good across the table. Service by our waiter was good, but it seemed our neighboring table was a bit frustrated and had to ask our waiter for something several times. Again, inconsistency. I’m sure the dim interior would be more appreciable if I were on a romantic date, but not so much when I’m trying to enjoy a meal with friends. I really want to like this place more… like I’m optimistic each time, but it just doesn’t reach the quality and consistent output of the other restaurants in its price range. Still, it’s a better than average choice and fairly impressive if you want to impress.

We went to our second dinner at Rebellle last night and the results weren’t great. I understand their concept of ordering everything at once so they can time the service appropriately, but we waited 45 minutes between appetizer and dinner. The Tazmanian trout was talked up a bit, but was super uninspiring. Only the skin had flavor. They offered us free dessert(did not care for dessert) to make up for the slow service, which is a gesture. However, we then got billed for $ 45 in drinks from another table. He took them off the bill, but mistakes like this shouldn’t happen at an upscale restaurant.

The perfect place for a classy date night. The atmosphere is loud but upscale, there’s a certain attitude and spunk to the décor and overall vibe, and the food is just delicious. Everything that I tried was delicious. I ordered the 14oz ribeye myself, which was juicy, perfectly cooked and expertly seasoned. I also sampled the grilled octopus, goat shank, grilled clams, oysters, quail and kabobs. Everything was outstanding.

Oh man where to start… I typically try not to write bad reviews much seeing as everyone has a bad day and mistakes are made. Me being in the former customer service and service industry I try to remain cool however after a second attempt at a place, you cannot help but to feel discouraged. I am all about supporting local eateries and being a huge fan for years of Feast we were stoked for Rebelle to open. Keyword«stoked» We arrived at 9pm, was told they were not seating until 930 sharp(which was our reservation for 10 people). Ok cool then we get sat, ordered a round of drinks and did not receive the first course until 1050ish. We had asked when we were getting served because other tables had their steaks already. We were told we have to wait til the first wave of food was sent out? Um ok cool the other courses were now slowing coming out. Then only 2 of our appetizers/second course came out and the other eight people just sat and stared awkwardly another 20 some minutes. Meanwhile the private room was sure getting everything at once. And now the filet finally arrived, it was not a filet it was indeed a hunk of fat(my dogs enjoyed the 125 dollar new year meal though). And that was 8 out of 10 of our cuts. Any who we addressed our concern to the manager and she offered to get everyone a glass of bubbly which was of low quality(the cheapest) I’m like wow it’s not about the dollar amount of the champagne it’s more of showing that you do care and are truly sorry about the overall experience. Still nobody was in a rush to get us upstairs to enjoy the«rooftop» access that we paid for. Instead we had to rush them to close out at 1148p and then get to a lobby full of people crowding the elevator. So in-turn we wound up doing the countdown traveling up floor 7. We finally get up top and no view of the fireworks, the tower was blocked by construction lol. It kinda coincided with the whole evening. Just don’t use that as part of the«package«if there is no true view. I will not return or recommend to anyone. I’ll tell them to head to Feast instead. After running such a successful eatery for years I would just think Rebelle would have been so fluid even at a busy time of the year like last night. I shouldn’t have to speak to management other than saying how wonderful the experience was for my out of town guests, myself and my pocketbook but non of the above were satisfied at all. So please do better for your guests who are spending quite a bit of money here. Ruth’s Chris would have been a tastier and less expensive choice(with lean no fat filets).

After serious thought, I can safely say this was the worst restaurant experience that I’ve ever had. I’ll break it down and then explain the experience below. Food: I’ve posted a picture of our $ 75 steak, which was ordered medium. I don’t think it was even cooked? Atmosphere: the place is pretty well decorated, as would be expected in such a wonderful hotel like the St. Anthony. Service: THEWORST. We were at the table for 2 hours before our food came, and during that time we were asked if we wanted cocktails only twice in those 2 hours. We finally went to the bar ourselves. I should mention that the restaurant was not busy — there were maybe 7 other tables there. Reservations: I had booked the private room 3 weeks prior to arriving, and had email confirmation of booking it. However, we were put at a normal table. The owner said that I was«probably just confused» about having booked the room, and then when I showed him the email, he said«well, clearly we gave it to someone else». He didn’t even apologize for their mistake! The story: I am hosting my family and my husband’s family at the St. Anthony for before Christmas. I booked the private room for 11 people for our family celebration, and have a confirmation email that was sent back to me 3 weeks before our experience. Although we didn’t get the private room as expected, we didn’t complain at first… until 2 hours went by and we still didn’t have food. Our server came by only twice for cocktails during those 2 hours, so we started just going to the bar ourselves. After 2 hours, we realized that we probably would have to skip the show(our after dinner plans) if the food didn’t come soon. My mother and my husband’s mother went to the owner/manager to ask about the food. When they told him about our lack of service, he said that we were flat out lying — that his staff is always attentive. He said that it was our fault that the food didn’t come out quickly enough(2 hours!!!) because he thought we didn’t order in time; however, we ordered the first time that the waitress came to our table. I have never seen a restaurant owner or manager be so unapologetic for problems that were clearly their fault(like sending me email confirmation of having booked the private room, but then not giving us the private room). We said that we would like to just pay for the cocktails and leave(the food still hadn’t come out), to which the owner said«You are welcome to leave, but you will pay for everything you ordered — even if you haven’t received it yet». About 5 minutes after he said that, while our group was getting up to leave, the food finally came out. I’ve included a picture of the steak — I don’t think they even cooked it. It was still cold to the touch. This was unequivocally the worst restaurant experience that we’ve ever had. Please do yourself a favor and do not come here.

We stopped here Friday night for a drink before dinner, as there aren’t many bars around Travis Park. The atmosphere is definitely upscale classy, so don’t show up in your dive bar attire. Dress up in your finest for this fancy spot. The list of mixed drinks were themed for the seven deadly sins. My date ordered Pride which included Texas whiskey, lemon and mint. It was served in a silver metal mug. It was a little potent for my taste, but he loved it. I ordered Wrath, as it was fitting for the type of day I had. It included tequila and pineapple-orange juice, which is one of my favorite combination. The inclusion of ancho reyes added a nice bit. Loved it! We had to run to make our dinner reservation but we hope to return for a meal soon!

I arrived with high hopes with this being a new concept delivered by what sounded like a reputable team. First, the décor and ambiance was impressive. Easily four stars for the appearance of the restaurant. Service was three to four stars as our server was knowledgeable of the menu(which one would hope as the restaurant was only three days into opening) and attentiveness was average. However, the quality of the food did not match the quality of the restaurant’s build. We ordered the Fried Camembert, Scallops in a Lobster Consommé(special at the server’s recommendation), Lobster in Green Curry, and the Petrale Sole Meuniere. The Fried Camembert was lost in the sea of ingredients, not really highlighting any part of the dish. A few of its flavors seemed to clash with a bit too much ambition put into what could have been a well executed dish less a few ingredients. I can’t say this dish was bad, but I did not enjoy it. The Scallops in Lobster Consommé was extremely simple, which is not a bad thing, but somehow the strong flavor of the Consommé, albeit under-seasoned, overpowered the scallops which should have been the star of the dish. Maybe a chilled version of the Consommé to bring out the gelatin and not overstate the scallops would have been a better execution. The Lobster in Green Curry was a disappointment. The lobster was overcooked to the point that it was difficult to cut and the curry was not much better than what I would find at a strip mall Thai restaurant. The highlight of the meal was the Sole. It was prepared well, not overcooked. I enjoyed the way the riz rouge contrasted with the texture of the sole, and the sauce was a delicious compliment to the sole. I would most likely give Rebelle another try if I am staying at the St. Anthony hotel in the future, but I would not go out of my way to dine there again.
