My boyfriend and I came here on a Friday night as a second choice to Chuy’s and it was NOT what we were expecting but it was quite the experience. The entrée selections are more«family style.» We shared a plate that came with more than enough meat(chicken, beef, and goat). A little overpriced, but it was delicious. We also both got a different margarita. I got a traditional frozen margarita with strawberry and loved it. My boyfriend got their most expensive margarita on the menu and it was not very good. I will say service was not very good. Our first waitress only spoke Spanish, and when she couldn’t communicate with us got very annoyed and left. Our next waitress just seemed like she didn’t want to be there the entire time. We probably won’t go back, but it was a good experience.

I remember this place when I was young traveling through Monterey. It’s been years since I’ve been there but the food was good as I remember. I had the 1 package or paquete 1. For what I paid for you’d expect a more. But never the less it was still good and brought back memories. Btw there is no more lunch menu so do go in banking on that.

Excellent cabrito, not gamey at all. Food, drinks, ambiance amazing and traditional but what’s even better is the service!!! Gracias por su hospitalidad!

Not necessarily a fan of cabritos but they have several other things on the menu. Nice clean friendly atmosphere. Wandering mariachi band. Waitstaff attentive and bilingual. The menu has English subtitles. Chips and salsa excellent, with several varieties to choose from. Queso Flameado very good and greasy. Tacos Reynoso are served street style and very good. Pollo was also excellent.

THis place is amazingly good. I have been here a couple of times and each time the service is fantastic. the machitos and tripas are great. the Fritada is amazing it takes me right back to Mexico sitting out in the Ranch with a cold one as the goat was prepared inside with the homemade tortillas so delicious highly recommend this experience

So I was really excited for this place based on a friend from Mexico whose local delicacy in Mexico is Cabrito. We came late at night, I’d say 8ish. The service was horrible. I was very disappointed the food was just okay. I’d definitely like to know whether the way they made it is true to Mexico or not. Regardless, I won’t be coming back here. I’ll have to try Cabrito somewhere else

It took me a while to figure this out… This place is trying to go for authenticity but misses the mark on the taste. Salads were wet iceberg lettuce and two slices of tomatoes. Food took a while and only had meat and a spoon full of onions for the fajitas. I was having a hard time figuring out the issue on why the service was so slow. We saw alot of hospitality from other waiters and managers to other tables, but not so much to us. The rib meat was tasty but for the price I just dont think it’s worth ever going back.

Friday night we took my mother to celebrate her birthday bad enough it was 9 – 11. We decide to go try this new place. We had no reservation, group of 10 and we were seated quickly… great so far. We placed our order, the food arrives… as we look up the man at the next table is choking! We immediately tell the waitress that man is choking. There is live music which is probably why not everyone had notice. Someone starts CPR. This poor man was down at least 20mins. He starts turning purple, EMS arrives, our table is pushed back… plates fell on the floor, and we are standing there for another 20mins when my mom says lets just go. So instead of being rude and walking out we put what was left in to go boxes. I felt like I was in an episode of greys anatomy! After the traumatic experience… the waitress brings our bill and we leave. As I’m in the car I can’t help but think what bad service! I completely understand that an accident of that nature is unfortunate and unforseen… so why not say«we apologize for this incident here’s a discount.» Free dessert next visit something! I wasn’t asking for free but something. We paid $ 300 for cold to go food. Normally at any restaurant with this price point your paying for the experience, location, and atmosphere… so what happened to good old customer service? Here we are 3 days later and my mother has yet to cut her cake because she worked Saturday and Sunday. ***In response to your comment***That response just made everything so much better! We made a decision to drive 45mins to try your restaurant. We also made a choice to leave because what else could we do? Our waitress like everyone else was standing there looking at this poor man… some of our food was on the FLOOR. I think you really are missed the picture. Yet you managed to make $ 300 off us just like I managed to spread my experience on all my social media accounts not to mention conversations. First time impressions are imperative for a reason. I would have considered returning had you or your management team responded in a better manner. At the end of the day we are just one family… who will spread the word. Your business will continue to make money because that’s what a business does.*****

They have queso flameado with chorizo, mushrooms, or both. Salsa is served warm one red, one roasted and then an avocado-based sauce that was good on the meat. Tortillas are the traditional thinner kind, both the corn and flour were good. It isn’t TexMex. Guacamole comes with sides of chopped fresh jalapeños, tomatoes and onions. You can mix it up yourself. Food is not salty, which I liked. The cabrito is like a hunk of meat that you can pick off of the bones. Dave pulled out a liver for me! He needed a bath afterward! This food is basic and authentic!

We waited for a long time to try Cabriteros because of how packed it looked on the weekends. Finally caught a break with a very rainy Saturday after church. But the rain doesn’t stop the fans as it was packed by another hour after we arrived. I’m still full and savoring the flavors of the cabrito and carne asada. Minus one star for serving what tasted like bottled ranch with the salad. When you have a restaurant that prides itself on high quality meat don’t skimp on the salad dressing. We started with the queso flameado mixta and really enjoyed the molten cheese with fresh mushrooms and chorizo with sturdy corn chips. For dinner we had the Paquete 1 which came with a very nice size serving of deconstructed guacamole, both corn and flour tortillas, salad, grilled onions, jalapeño, cabrito, and carne asada. The cabrito was very flavorful and much more tender than you expect from off the grill. The carne asada was also very well seasoned and tender. We had seen some reviews about subpar service, but Alba took great care of us. She was always checking in with us and clearing plates as we finished off some of our dishes.

I felt I was in a restaurant in Monterrey, Nuevo León. I went with Lupe who is familiar with authentic Mexican culture and we had a great experience! I use to cross the border often to have authentic cabrito Mexico style! Needing a passport just to cross and horror stories of danger, I left behind the day trips to Mexico and thus ate only American cabrito! This place took me back! Delicious cabrito, and great service by Leslie! We had paquete 1 for two people which includes salad, salsa, tortillas, hand made corn and flour, guacamole, pico de gallo, and beans! Plenty of great tasting goat milk fed only cabrito! No room for dessert!

The food was adequate at best. Everything needed salt. Don’t waste your time with a frozen margarita; ours were tasteless and colorless. Not a bad experience, but I see no reason to go back. I should say, the arrachera(hanger steak) was well-seasoned and tender.

4 star place with some room for improvement but otherwise very good. Service: Fast and friendly, been here 3 times and i have gotten consistent 5 star service with friendly bilingual waiters which is great, specially when i am with Mexican clients. Food: Having lived in Monterrey for many years this place definitely resembles authentic cabrito. The queso fundido was delicious as well as the ribeye tacos. My complaint comes from the fajitas, they were too seasoned and rubbery and i have had them two times now. Definitely could use some improvement in the fajita quality. Location: The place is a bit hidden from 281 but you cant miss it as the location is huge behind the cinema. The décor is nice and it has a friendly vibe. Not a lot of changes since la fonda argentina shut down here, but none were needed as la fonda was beautiful. Overall, this is a great authentic northern Mexican food restaurant, if you are expecting sour cream on your tacos you should not eat here. Btw the salsas are delicious!

I was nervous about coming here because I had bought a Groupon and I read a review that mentioned the staff wouldn’t accept the Groupon??? Why offer it then, right? Also, I read another review which mentioned staff doesn’t speak English very well and menu was mostly in Spanish. But, I had the Groupon and I love cabrito. So off we went. We were promptly greeted at the door — in English. Escorted to the table of our choice. Handed a menu — which was in English & Spanish. Received excellent service and recommendations from our waitress, Carolina. Had no trouble using the Groupon. We liked everything so much that we’ve been back a couple more times — with Groupon in hand of course because I’m frugal ;) About the food… people who complain that the cabritos have no flavor don’t seem to understand the concept of Cabrito al Pastor. The whole carcass is opened flat and roasted for about 8 hours in the open air WITHOUT seasonings. The slow-burning charcoal will give it a light smokiness. For more flavor, you can add salsa or guacamole. You are given 3 kinds of salsas — all spicy. So unfortunately for those who can’t handle spicy foods, this would be a problem. The guacamole comes deconstructed. Mix that baby up. Add salt, pepper, & lime to your liking and you’re good to go. The desserts and alcoholic beverages here fall a bit short. Haven’t been impressed with anything so far. But I’m here for the cabritos anyway. Get your Groupon, folks! And come give this place a try.

Party of 15 Waiter didnt write anything down, but then got my order screwed up and we had to wait for our meal while everyone else ate. Cabrito is good, you can’t find it most places so its GOOD to find this place with half their menu dedicated to Cabrito.

Goat, goat and more goat. In sauce, grilled on the spit, a portion or the whole goat, this is the goat/eaters paradise. My son and I had it three ways: in a sauce, in a blood soup and a whole goat head to be picked through. All of them were excellent. But, alas, that’s where it ends. My wife, not being of the goat-eating persuasion, ordered steak. Not steak by anyone’s definition. Didn’t even taste like steak. The corn tortillas were dry and tasteless. But of all the let downs the service was the biggest flop. The waiter did not know the menu and on a Wednesday you would expect better. Big hits. the«El Cabrón» margarita and the charro beans. My suggestion, order take out and enjoy it at home.

I used to have to drive to the Mexican border for some cabrito(2.5 hr drive), but now there’s a great place right here at home. I purposefully ordered the«paleta», the shoulder, which is normally the toughest meat but the tastiest, and they surprised me with a moist and tender cut of cabrito. It was fantastic. This place is a bit pricey but the food is certainly unique enough to merit it. I had visions of my old pueblito in Mexico. I’ll be back for sure.

We’ve eaten here once before and had a great experience. So, because my sister and her husband had taken care of our giant cat Dexter while we were on DC, we thought they deserved to be taken here. Yes, English is the second language for most of the servers. Who cares? Lends authenticity if you ask me. We thought about ordering the cabrito for four, but in the end we each ordered the paleta(shoulder) plate. This is the portion with the most meat. We also ordered the large guacamole and the queso flameado. The queso was awesome. The chorizo was not swimming in grease, as it so often does. Our server was great. Her English was not so great, but again, who cares? My brother-in-law is fluent in Spanish and got us through. Service was great. She joked with us and didn’t make the rest of us feel like stupid gringos. The classiest moments of the evening were how they had people stationed at the door to run out to your car with umbrellas(it was raining) and get you in relatively dry. This was repeated when we left. Quite cool. We had a blast.

I was very disappointed with their famous cabrito. It didn’t had any flavor what so ever. Very over priced and their salsa had no flavor and way too spicy. There is another restaurant here in San Antonio that prepares cabrito 10 times better than this place. Don’t recommrnded.

We went on 4th of July 2014 for my Mom’s birthday. The food was very good. The sever was great! His name is Sunny and was very attentive. My Mom ordered the Machito plate(The goats cajones!) We all tried shared the plate, very good, slightly tasted like liver. I love liver and onions so this was no problem. You may want to consider combo number one trio platter for a variety of meats without the Machitos. We shared this plate and it was also very good. Overall great! We will come back!
