This place is different environment but the best part is the live music. Thank you Christian for always making our visit the best

I’ve given this place many chances but it’s just lacking in many areas. First of all the expensive cover to a below average place is a bad start. I don’t think anyone ever goes for the food fortunately or else you’d have lawsuits due to health concerns. They play random songs that for some reason get repeated every hour. Given the competition in the area for nightlife this is at the bottom of the barrel so save yourself something precious… time.

Had a friend come meet me with his friend of a darker skin tone and he was not let in at all. Got two different reasons from manager and security guard. First reason was dress code the it was capacity but they were Still letting people in. not my next choice of entertainment.

I’m surprised this disgusting place hasn’t closed down after the reputation they have always had and honestly didn’t even think it was still open. Had the«pleasure» of meeting the owner after a terrible experience there(padding my tab, horrible service, door guys completely inconsistent with letting the guys from our party in-kept changing rules of dress code and I guarantee you we were the least ghetto people in that night) once and his only way of trying to rectify the situation was to bash all of the other bars in Stone Oak! They claim to be «selective» yet I feared for my safety both inside the club and outside of the club based on the ghetto, shady people there. Maybe something decent will eventually take this spot in Stone Oak… the owner should consider an industry in which he knows what he is doing.

Most pretentious club in San Antonio. I’ve been to many bars with a «dress code» but this one is but this place is acting like they’re a club in Vegas. You can’t get in wearing stylish sneakers or Clarks, you have to wear leather formal shoes. They also don’t allow you in if you have visible tattoos.

Ok The place was decant and clean. We had a reservation for a table with bottle service and when we arrived early they gave us the worst location! There was no one at all. So we asked for changing and it took them for ever to change in our location, the manger or the man whose controlling the door wasn’t smiling at all I think he had a bad mood that day. I don’t think I will go back there for a second time and I’m sure there is more places much better than this one.

We went there with a friend who bought bottle service to celebrate my retirement from the military. We have been to many clubs and this one didn’t impress me at all. First thing we all had to pay a cover charge even though bottle service was purchased? That’s a first to me! Second, they wanted to charge an extra $ 5 to give us more pineapple juice with the bottle service? Are you kidding me, another first! The music was horrible, every single Top 40 song they played was ruined within 10 seconds as the DJ would play that techno beat crap with it. That damn beat!!! It was like listening to the same song over and over and over. At around 12 something he finally played/didn’t ruin a few songs by making them the«tecno» version. Lastly, I ordered some drinks and the bottle service girl tried to hustle me. Once the drinks arrived I asked how much, to which she replied $ 20 I think. You think? I asked for a receipt… Surprise, surprise the bill was like $ 18. So she was trying to get $ 20 and expect a tip on top of that? Not cool. This is on my never again list, don’t believe the hype. Before I forget… The people in there are stuck up and no fun… there you go…

So after our last visit, we will never be going back. We had the bad experience with the bottle service last year, and have gone back several times since. Never anything extraordinary about our times there, but we only went because that was where our friends wanted to go.(Also one time we went on a Friday night, which apparently is Tejano night… everyone was wearing vaqueros and cowboy hats and we walk in, mostly while girls, with some hispanics, all dressed in club attire. No one bothered to even mention that it was Tejano night… $ 10 a head later, we were all inside, promptly turned around and walked back out.) Our last visit cemented that we will never return. Walked up to the front, a few couples ahead of us go in. We get up to the front and are advised that they are hosting a «private party» and aren’t letting anyone in. BS, cos 1) just saw you let a whole bunch of people in and 2) we had 9 friends already inside. When that didn’t work, they told me we couldn’t come in because my husband had(diamond) earrings in(see my last review on my thoughts on that!!!). There dress code USED to say no piercings for men, but it had been updated and that part was removed(please see photo/screen shot of dress code). My husband sighed and started to remove them, then they tell us that we cannot come in because of my tattoo. Mind you, I have a few, including a half sleeve. That was not the issue… the offending ink is piece I have on my elbow, which is an EE Cummings poem, with the script shaped into a heart. Because it was script… And they don’t allow script tattoos… I have two huge problems with this: 1) no where on their website does it say that script tattoos are not allowed. Their only reference to tattoos is that they cannot be visible on me. 2) It is not like it was gang-related lettering, it’s a freaking love poem… shaped like a heart!!! We immediately walked away, and all 9 of our friends closed their tabs and left with us. While I have many issues with this place, the biggest is their lack of consistency. You don’t want men to wear earrings? Fine. Post it on your dress code, and leave it there. Don’t change it, and not inform your door staff. Don’t want script tattoos, or any tattoos, or whatever? Fine, this is your business and that is your right. But don’t be ridiculous about changing the rules to suit your needs, and don’t claim that it’s a private party when it’s not. This business is so shady, and we will never return again.

Worst place ever! The owner is racist. Told us we were too old to go in. Seriously? For a $ 200.00 plus for bottle service that sucks, would never ever recommend this place.

Ok so I decided to attend a friends party. She get a VIP section $ 200 for bottle service, which we hardly saw the girl. We have way to many people so we get another VIP section … Then one of our friends that arrive gets denied entrance because they aren’t familiar nor were they VIP let alone did they know at the door we had 2 reserved sections. We go to the door to escort them on in and still have trouble. Finally they come in after a while.(not very nice ! Especially when u let in trash …) They speak of dress to impress yet they let in guys with tshirts and jeans, wtf! I was expecting better people! So finally we get our ticket and the girl adds gratuity. Ok I understand when it’s a resturant but please it’s a club, work for your $ and ill tip. Don’t shaft my guest for a tip and add gratuity to my bill as well. Gtfo totally not with 4bills. Ill definitely try another place. I would highly recommend the same ! I now understand the other reviews.

Fun place to party. But terrible service !!! I bought 5 bottles for my birthday bash dropped well over a $ 1200 and the lady in the front demanded we pay a $ 5 dollar cover charge. I have no problems w the $ 5 but don’t be rude especially when your fat and ugly. The lady was beyond rude !!! And our waitress was rude as well. Not the customer service you would expect when you pay so much. I should have tipped them extra to buy some class. Wasn’t the owwwwwwww! Experience for my birthday. Still partied like a rock star cuz that’s what I do. Grand agave needs some class !!! Not a good way to run a business ! If she was HOTANDRUDE different story

This was my first visit to Grand Agave. I attended a birthday party for a friend and we had reserved area with bottle service. The atmosphere was wonderful from the sound of the music to the lights on the dance floor. There were three full bars, and the waiting staff was amazing. There was no waiting and she always got the order correct. The waitress at our table was wonderful always asking if we needed anything, refilling out non alcoholic drinks to go with our bottle. The music was wonderful from top hits both in English and in Spanish. There is an outdoor area for the smokers to socialize. The place was packed on a Saturday so if you’re going to go make sure to dress to impress and arrive early. There is also valet parking.

I’ve been twice and don’t plan on a third. The food was bland. My friend’s chicken was overcooked to the point of rubbery without much seasoning. My fish was under cooked and had to be sent back to finish. The sides of the dish lacked flavor also. Salsa is one of the things I judge a Mexican or Tex-Mex restaurant by. The salsa there didn’t help their case. It was pureed in a blender to a smooth consistency. That’s not salsa! Service was fine. Nothing exceptional and no complaints. The bar has decent cocktails if you’re there when it’s not in full swing as a dance club. It’s been a while since my last visit. Unless they’ve changed menus or chefs in the past 12 months I’m confused by some of the positive reviews I’ve read here. It’s worth noting that a lot of folks were rating it as a night club rather than a restaurant since they have a club off to one side.

When I first walked in here, I immediately felt under dressed, despite being a bit more than«casually» dressed. That feeling was immediately squashed when we were greeted by our waiter. He was extremely polite and friendly, and made me feel like we were in a small, mom-and-pop place. Have you ever been to a place that immediately serves you a complimentary cup of soup? I can’t remember the name of it, only that it was FANtastic! My meal was based on the recommendations of another Unilocaler, and I’m so glad I did that! My boyfriend and I loved our food! We ordered the queso flameado, which for those of you who aren’t in-the-know, is not a cheese dip. It’s white queso, nice and gooey and hot, and you eat it in tortillas! You just a big scoop and smear it in your tortilla, and eat! It was sooo good! For our entrees, I got the Mole enchiladas and my boyfriend got the lunch burrito. The lunch burrito is lunch-priced, but not lunch-sized! It was HUGE! That made my boyfriend extremely happy, but if you don’t have the appetite of my man, be prepared to take half of it home. As for me, I could not put my fork down! I could not get ENOUGH of that MOLE sauce! So amazing! My sides were borracho beans and rice. Both very delicious as well! The yummy rice was a happy surprise! Anyway, to make my long review just a bit longer… I will definitely be back for more =D

I’m sorry to say that I am doubtful that this place will stay in business much longer. We stopped in for dinner on a Tuesday night. The food was great and the Margaritas were delicious however there were only two other tables taken in the entire restaurant. This is a gigantic place. It reminds me of some of the resorts we have stayed in during our trips to Mexico. Ridiculously high ceilings and expensive looking fixtures this should be a really hot spot. Our waiter told us that night time dancing brings in a good crowd unfortunately my dancing days are behind me. I eat at a lot of Mexican food restaurants and the food here was as good as any. I think that the Grand Agave needs to decide what it is. Is it a restaurant or a dance club? I hope the restaurant side wins. Give them a try and I am confident you will be happy.

friendly staff from the moment you walk in. Our waiter was at tentative and friendly. not one thing ordered was wrong. Margarita was price a bit high at $ 7, but it definitely has a punch to it. FYI our plates where $ 12.00, but the Tex-Mex food was delicious. Not bad at all especially when I was able to redeem my Living Social voucher. I recommend this Grand Agave. I cannot wait to go during Salsa night! The atmosphere(décor) is comtemporary and urban(industrial ceilings) which I am a fan of!!!

I really liked this place. It’s only been open a few months but the staff was friendly and the place was nice. One half is a restaurant and a bar in the other. It seems to cater more to the older crowd but they have some AWESOME salsa music on Thursday nights. I actually ended up meeting the owners who seemed very friendly. They were just sitting at the bar enjoying the festivities. Can’t quite give it 5 stars because I have not had the food yet but if it’s as good as the service and atmosphere then I’m sure it rocks too.

Walk into Grand Agave and find yourself inside a giant venue that seems somewhat small from the outside. It was perplexing to my Unilocaling brain the way the inner space just kept opening up and getting bigger and bigger! I went for lunch on a Thursday, arguably not their sweet spot. This place offers traditional Mexican fare by day but turns into what they promise to be «San Antonio’s première Latin club» by night. My review only reflects the food, I have yet to visit for dancing and drinks! Ok, that’s not quite true. I had a drink with my lunch(it was 5 o’clock somewhere, you understand) but even that fell a bit flat. I ordered a traditional margarita with house tequila. It was just regular, nothing special, in fact I dare say I make better at home, but it cost $ 10. At lunchtime. For nothing special. Had I paid half that, it would have been fine, but for ten smackers at lunch for house tequila, you better rock my world… Now the food. Reeeeeally good! Our meal began with chips and two salsas: red chile and a bean dip. Outstanding. I had steak tacos and tasted bits of my dining compadre’s Mole Enchiladas. The tacos were delicious, but the Mole Enchilada is where it’s at! Both dishes came with a side of rice and beans that were actually quite tasty. I’m reserving a fourth star in hopes a night visiting as a patron of the dance club will improve my impression. Stay tuned for the update. It’s coming soon!
