The service was exceptional our waiter, Rubio did a wonderful job for some first timers. The food was a little above average but the service made up for what the food was lacking. Thanks again Rubio

Excellent Meal! Excellent service! Rubio was charming, attentive and outstanding! Best customer service I’ve experienced in a long time! I’ll definitely come back and specifically ask to be seated on his area. Bravo Rubio, bravo!

The biggest steakhouse in Texas! This place is huge. Gigantic. It seems like it’s been around forever, and kind of Texas holy house of meat. It seems like the kind of thing you see in the old pictures of Hemisfair ’68 in San Antonio. The waitresses all still dress like cowgirls, and the bar staff are all packing pistols. Gotta love Texas’ open carry laws! The menus are painted on huge boards that you can see from across the room. The staff all had their routines down on getting the customers’ orders, and getting them fed quickly. They’re efficient, but not especially friendly. They’re there to get your order into the kitchen, and not talk about the menu, or refill drinks. The décor is strange– brands of Texas cattlemen, and parts of their menu painted out on the wall with drawings of cattle. This is as Texan as it comes. They offer a wide selection of mixed drinks and beers– with Lone Star Light being sold at a deep discount to the other beers. God Bless Texas. Parking is easy with a giant lot that spans blocks. As we were leaving the steakhouse, we saw one of our fellow patrons being wheeled out in a stretcher and being loaded into the back of an ambulance.

This place deserves 5 stars, not sure why anyone would give it anything lower than that. We came to San Antonio for my nephews Air Force ceremony and this place is by far the best restaurant we have been to during our stay here. Definitely recommend this place, great food and nice people.

If you haven’t been to the Little Red Barn in a while, you need to try it again. This place is classic San Antonio. The picnic tables, salads with bottles of dressing(use as much or as little as you like), wait staff in western attire with cowboy hats(ladies wear cute skirts), and good old fashioned steaks. All types from porterhouse to chopped steak. Try off the menu«Ringo» — chopped steak topped with cheese, grilled onion & peppers. Also the wedge salad is a must have. Their bread is new and much, much better. Fresh yeast rolls served warm with a slight sweet flavor. Our waitress, Terrie, was pretty incredible. Hustling all night making sure everyone was happy. Give it a try. Fun, casual, and Texas all in one!

This restaurant is a San Antonio tradition, hosting big parties for 20% off on birthdays! I couldn’t count how many times I’ve returned for the past several years. It seemed on my last Friday night visit, things have gone wrong. Huge over sized menus, free salads and servers dressed in cowboy attire ready for the showdown all remind me of Little Red Barn. I was truly let down on my last visit. Food: I ordered a steak, medium-rare. Also, a chicken fried steak. both with loaded mashed potatoes. When my food arrived, the presentation is not what I was used to. The plate was stacked with plastic cups holding the«loaded» potato ingredients — not cool. The steak was probably still moo-ing because it was not medium, it was truly rare. However, the chicken fried steak was good! I would have waved down my server but she never returned, so I walked out looking like a vampire with a bloody mouth. Drinks: Water needs a filter, it taste like pool water(don’t ask how I know how pool water taste). I ordered a margarita, which my server forgot to bring, I got it ½ way into my meal. Rita was gross and way too bitter, and almost no alcohol — i think it was a virgin. Service was bad, even for a slow night, bus boys kept dropping the metal places into a plastic bin so a bunch of disturbing noise. It didn’t help we were seated next to a bussing section. Meh, probably won’t return.

It’s was Mothers day and wow were they ready for the crowds to arrive. They had out side seating for the wait. It was nice and cool so the heat was not a factor that day. We had a party of 8 that was seated with in 10 minutes. For it being a holiday I was super impressed. Once we arrived to our table the waiter took out drink order. Of course if you have ever been to little red barn you’re familiar with there menu. Our group had a few first times so I instead of the waiter explained the menu. At the table we started with salads, and some home made dressing. Our drinks took some time to arrive, and we had to ask for refills. So finally we got pitches of water, tea, and sodas. We all placed our orders and waited. I ordered steak medium and shrimp with a side of mash potatoes. My steak arrived with out the shrimp which did arrive like 10 mins later. They Were about 4 or 5 pieces of fried shrimp that were ok. For the price of my plate I expected something more appealing to the eye and my pallet. The other members of my group said the same. The waiter tried he’s best but I’m thinking it was just one busy day. We will go again just don’t know when.

This place is a gem. For the money, you cannot go wrong. Ordered the family special– 32 oz steak, four sides and tea for under $ 45. Steak was perfectly cooked Medium rare. There’s a reason they have been open for 53 years. The servers outfits are unique. The shrimp is damn good and with a 30 oz beer for $ 7(almost 3 beers) you can’t go wrong. You will not be disappointed.

I came here in 2015 with some co-workers while in town for a conference. My co-worker told us how he used to come here a lot as a child(he grew up in town). The place was empty when we went in. I think it was close to closing time. That didn’t matter because we were still greeted with smiles. The menu is a huge sandwich board that you get to pick your meat from. I don’t remember which cut of steak I got, but it was really delicious. From where we sat you could see right into the kitchen, which was really cool. They had the real sugar Big Reds, and they served it in a frosty mug. Good place. It’s a little dingy, but I do highly recommend going there if you’re in San Antonio.

OMG, this place has been there like forever! It was a pleasure to visit again after such a long time. I love the waitress’s cowboy outfits. Rubio was our friendly, efficient, thoughtful waiter. My friend had the grilled chicken with green beans. The grilled chicken was a little too dry for me. The green beans were good. I ordered the steak sandwich with baked potato. The steak sandwich was a philly steak sandwich to me which was delicious. The cheese sauce was delicate. Plenty of steak in it too. The bread was soft and fresh. The Lone star light was only $ 1.50! We ordered the least price entry which was still $ 10 plus. They start you off with a salad which I enjoyed very much.

My family loves Little Red Barn the staff is friendly and food is delicious. The steak &shrimp is a must try, it’s one of my favorite’s. Also you can walk in with a big group and get sat pretty much right away the wait is hardly ever really long. It’s a big restaurant with lots of seating. So give it a try date night, family night, birthday dinner or on your lunch break they are open all day.

This is one of the best restaurants in town. There is seldom a time where so many different things on the menu are as good as they are here. In addition, nowadays it’s so difficult to find a restaurant where you don’t have to wait on a Friday, Saturday or even Sunday. With kids that can be frustrating. I’ve been coming here for years and the wait is never more than a couple of minutes. The timeliness of your order is just the same. They seem to aggressively take timeliness and service to heart. Lastly, the owner is always there, ensuring that the patrons are happy and everything is running smoothly. That means a lot to me.

The food is always delicious when I come. You are immediately met with friendly service when you step foot inside. They instantly seat you with a delicious salad and dressing of your choice. The waitresses wear cute little cowgirl outfits which complement the neat western atmosphere. Great place to relax and have dinner with the family on a Friday night or with your honey on a date night. This past year, I had my birthday lunch here. I usually order the 6oz chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes. The portion and taste will not disappoint. The prices are really good especially for the quality and quantity you’re getting. I always look forward to eating here when I get the chance.

I’m not a fan of this restaurant . The ambiance: The menus are big boards that they placed on both sides of our picnic table after we were seated. It felt as though people were staring at us because they were looking at our table to read the menu… from two sides of the restaurant. Everyone waa dressed like Cowboy Bob. Also, it was very dark in the restaurant. The staff: Everyone was friendly. Our waitress smiled a lot and seemed sweet. However, the service was slow. The food: Not good. I had the shish kabob. The bellpeppers and onions were raw. The steak was all gristle and I could not swallow it. The green beans were good, and my boyfriend l really liked the rolls and his baked potato. The menu is limited. You get a salad which consists of iceberg lettuce, shredded carrots, 2 cherry tomatoes, and a pepper. Your choice of one side is between green beans, baked potato, or steak fries. That is it. Not worth coming back to.

My dad has been coming here since he was a kid, and this place is true to his heart. As a daddy’s girl, I feel somewhat obliged to reflect positively on this place. However, obligations aside, Little Red Barn impressed me. When you walk in, they bring complimentary salads to your table with Thousand Island, Goddess, and Ranch dressings. Lots of crackers and warm rolls follow your salad, as they present a large board displaying the menu. While I think prices are above the quality standard, you definitely get your money’s worth in quantity. My sirloin(ordered medium rare) came out closer to medium well, but for $ 11.25 I refuse to complain. It was juicy, tender, and super flavorful with hardly any excess fat. Our server Taylor, dressed in a super cute cowgirl costume, was really great! She brought out everything just in time, was very attentive, and never rushed us. Fair warning– The bathroom is gross, the water tastes chlorinated, I think the silverware is older than my father, but low and behold I’m still a fan of Little Red Barn.

Came here for a going away luncheon. This was my 2nd time coming here… and I wasn’t too thrilled the first time around. For as large as the party was, service didn’t take too long which is good. I ordered the country fried steak (Sidebar: there was major confusion between a couple of us when it came to country fried steak and chicken fried steak. Apparently the difference is the gravy color. Chicken gray is yellow and country gravy is brown) The portion of steak was big… but the size of the food didn’t make up for the blandness of the food. I was underwhelmed… it could have been better. THESALAD. this annoys me. They only give you three choices of salad dressing… some weird looking green stuff and two others, I can’t remember. None of which I wanted or liked. It wouldn’t kill them to offer a couple more.
