We made a reservation for 7. After taking our order around 7:20, the waitress came back around at 8:15 telling us there was a confusion in the kitchen. She then took down our whole order again. Waitress disappeared for about 15 minutes. We asked another waitress if she could ask our waitress to let us just pay for our drinks. She comes back from the kitchen at 8:30 to tell us the food is about to come out, but we just wanted to pay for our drinks and leave. Manager comes by asking if we just sat down(no communication between the staff). We told him we sat at 7 because of our reservation. The manager said the food was ready and offering the food for free or a credit. We told him we didn’t want that and we wanted to pay for drinks and leave. He said not to worry about the drinks. We were not rude to any of the staff, but to see other tables getting food before us was frustrating. The waitress had also walked by a couple times when my wine glass was empty. When we left, it was 8:38. It shouldn’t take over an hour and a half to receive food.

So we checked in here for a light meal before a show. We arrived at about 7:15pm and decided to eat at the bar… because our show started at 9pm and we wanted a small, rather quick meal. We sat at the bar and it was rather dead in the bar area with a few sitting at the bar and a couple bar tables occupied. Great bar and setting. It began to get busier. We had a drink and a glass of wine and ordered a burger and steak sandwich at around 7:40pm(per our receipt). Then we waited… we had one more drink while waiting. At about 8:15 the bartender said he would check on our food. We waited again. but this time we noticed a table of four, that arrived at about the same time we did, get their steak and lobster meals. At about 8:25 we told the bartender that if our food wasn’t ready we needed to cancel to make a show. He disappeared for about 5 minutes… Now it was too late. We didn’t want to gulp down our food so we canceled the order. The manager comped our drinks and was very nice about it. Unfortunately nice doesn’t satisfy the appetite. This Ruth’s Chris is connected to and in a relationship with the Grand Hyatt… so I think they would realize that many guests may be wanting a quick meal. If we had ordered a full steak meal, I would be more forgiving, but we ordered sandwiches… not the most difficult item to prepare. This was a fail for us.

Ordered a Bloody Mary and it was spot on. Next the ahi tuna arrived. The side of pickled veggies are good but the peppered ahi tuna was overly salty. So much that the subtle flavor of the tuna was overwhelmed by the salt bath. I had to cut away the edges and even then it was too much. Next came the hamburger and fries. The side of fried were pretty darn good. The hamburger was so-so — edible but nothing special. Save your money and visit one of the«One-Off» places on Unilocal and leave this place for hotel happy hour drinks only.

I visited here during my stay at the Grand Hyatt and I had free breakfast every morning from the hotel. It opened at 7am every day, which was convenient because I had meetings every day starting at 8am. The buffet was your typical one with scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes, fruit, cereal, granola, etc. But the omelet bar was great! Some of the best omelets I’ve ever had. Not sure what their secrete was, but each one I had made was with spinach, mushrooms, onions, swiss cheese and bacon with tomato and added salsa. The service was great as they kept my coffee full and served orange juice and water as well.

First off I should say that this review is NOT for the steak, I was in late and wasn’t up for the big hunk of meat. I ordered a Lobster Bisque and a chop salad. The Bisque was really not very good, downright off. I tried to think that hey this is bisque, should be great, one of my favs, but after 3 – 4 spoonfuls I asked if could trade it in, which they did for Onion soup. The Onion soup was average, a 3 on that, I have had FAR better for $ 6 Euros in Paris… or frankly in average diners. I also had a the $ 12 chop salad. Wow, looked great, but just was off too. I did not have the heart to send that back, asked for some blue cheese dressing since it was devoid of any flavor. Overall I wished I had ordered a burger which wasn’t on the regular menu, only after I ordered I saw a bar menu come out and the guy ordered a burger which looked good. The issue is that the final tab with one mixed drink and tip was $ 42 bucks for soup and salad with on drink. Ouch, I guess you go and spend $ 100 for a steak and at least you know usually you’ll get a good meal albeit it for sure high retail.

Made reservations for New Year’s Eve dinner, very disappointed with the experience entirely. I’ve eaten at Ruth Chris before and this was one of the worst experiences I’ve had. Upon arrival we were held to wait even though the restaurant was empty for our 10:00pm reservation. Once seated we had to wait for our server for quite some time just to take our drink orders. From there, the service only got worse, the people bringing out our food and cleaning it up spent more time making sure our food was on than our waiter, very upsetting. It was hard to even get his attention to get the check. The food. The food was very disappointing. Both the filets were not cooked to the ordered temperature and over seasoned, the asparagus still had grass mixed in with it on the plate, and the mashed potatoes were cold. To top things off, the prices were inflated to much higher than the normal price and I was never made aware until I was seated for dinner. Very disappointing, won’t be dining here again.

We have been planning to visit RuthChris for many years and finally decided to celebrate our 19 yr anniversary with so so results. The staff was friendly and attentive, about the best experience of the night. We ordered the ribeye steak, the presentation looked great, but after a few cuts my steak was reduced to a few morsels of meat with a high percent fat and gristle. I will say the few bites of actual meat were very tasty and tender. My wifes steak looked ok, next time ill try signature dish(fillet). Hopefully next time i will walk away full and satisfied after spending 200 for a special meal.

Not worth it. My wife and I dropped $ 330 there on Christmas and didn’t really enjoy it. We did have a big meal: Four mojitos — Very tasty but at $ 13 each, a bit steep. Oysters Rockefeller — these were our biggest gripe. The oysters were way overcooked and completely drowned in their Ruth’s Chris’ creamed spinach. Every restaurant is entitled to their own recipes, but simply throwing one of your side items over oysters is not awesome. Seriously, they were a bummer. Crab Cakes — My wife hated these. They’re not pan fried as she expected, but rather warmed under the broiler. She thought they tasted raw. I was OK with them, but just OK. One salad — My wife salad her salad was really good. One soup — Second biggest gripe. This was supposed to be a white bean and chorizo soup. Again, to each their own, but what I was expecting was something like a traditional Spanish or Portuguese soup. Hearty but brothy. This was more like chili. I didn’t want chili. My bad, I should have asked what this dish was like before ordering it. Regardless, it wasn’t good a chili either. The steaks were both excellent. No question. Our service was also good — we ate at the bar. Our bottle of wine was $ 40 and went nicely with the steaks. Glad to hear they have a low-cost We expected more from Ruth’s Chris. It had been a year since we’ve been to one and were enthused to try the new location. Never going back now that there are other options for amazing steaks in San Antonio.

Great steaks on hot plates. The staff is exceptional. Did not like their Oscar style and the sauce was too thick and the crab cake not the tastiest. Definitely stick to meat and potatoes! The décor is New Orleans pics. Everything was clean.

Ate here for the first time during their lunch service. I was blown away with how outstanding everything tasted! I have never had such flavorful tender buttery steak before. I had the french onion soup to start, Oh my goodness, it was the best I’ve ever had. So tasty! Not too salty and had a nice consistency. The huge slab of cheese and bread on top was a nice addition as well. For the main course I had the petite filet. It came out sizzling in brown butter. Had such a terrific char on top and once you cut inside, it was cooked to perfection. Just heavenly! For the side, I had creamed spinich. Very good as well. Incredibly creamy. Of course this isn’t the type of place you eat at every day, but when you do treat yourself, I recommend you come here. You are sure to leave full and happy.

Ate lunch here during a break at convention. It as pricy, but easier than rushing out to find lunch can and back in time for next meeting. I got a burger. It was good. Nothing spectacular– just a burger. Other person at table got the crab BLT. She expected a crab cake and it was more of crab salad, but she said it was tasty. Service was good. I would go back in same situation, but wouldn’t make a special trip to go there for lunch.

I frequent RC locations often, and expect and get great food. Their real deals are their«Happy Hour» specials. At this location they have an impressive daily offerring from 3−7pm. Lots or bar seating and bar tables. Don’t pass on the Spicy Lobster app for only $ 9. The $ 9 steak sandwich is scrumptous. Wash it down with a $ 8 blueberry mojito and you have gourmet dined at fast food prices.

HIGHLYNOTRECOMMENDED — AWEFUL doesn’t even come close to our experience at this location of Ruth’s Chris. This is from our dining experience on March 7, 2014. I hesitated in actually posting this review for over a year and shame on me but I just didn’t have it in my heart to share how awful of an experience we had! Leaving a less than stellar review is hard for me to do. It’s something a restaurant has to work hard to accomplish. This location of Ruth’s Chris Steak House EARNED this review and I’m really being nice. We arrived about 45 minutes before the kitchen was closing and had to BEG the manager to get seated? Really? To get our experience off to a stellar start, they seated us directly by the kitchen door — must have been all the smiling and pleading to seat us that earned this torturous treatment! I’ve been to Ruth’s Chris all over America and this is the worst experience I’ve ever had at their chain restaurant. It’s also the last time I’ve dined with them. It’s unfortunate, as I really like this place. One of the normal luxuries of Ruth’s is that outside of this location, they seem to always do a great and consistent job! When we were finally greeted by our waiter, turns out he just kept the hits rolling, as he didn’t make us feel special, unless waiting forever to get water and order drinks is special. He also messed up our order. I guess the silver lining is the dish they messed up was mine and not my guests, as it was an important business meeting. When we asked to speak to the manager to politely share our experience, it was extremely awkward and the manager made us feel guilty for wanting to express our displeasure, since they did us a favor in allowing us to spend nearly $ 500 on dinner and drinks for 4! Hopefully we caught them on a bad night, as the connecting hotel was hosting a large number of convention attendees.

The food was just ok and the organization of the early afternoon shift made for less than an excellent experience. I can say that I understand how restaurants flow, because I’ve been a server in a couple restaurants from upscale to mediocre. Further, I understand that things happen and you just have to manage accordingly. I commend Larissa and Brannon for making a poor situation as manageable as possible, The meal started off really bad. We were sat and we weren’t greeted by anyone for at least 10 minutes, which I found very odd. Seems as if there was a miscommunication in the server’s sections. When our food did arrive I thought it was just ok, Everyone else had the same opinion. Just for our less then perfect experience, we were offered a sampling of some of their most popular desserts. I was impressed that management thought it necessary to offer us this sampling. I considered the meal ok, but the rest of our party was less than satisfied. I would give Ruth Chris another shot, but I can’t say the same for the rest of our party.

I frequent Ruth Chris’s a considerable amount of time both in the Charlotte North Carolina and Asheville North Carolina locations. each of those locations provide an experience that very well merits the prices they charge which are considerable to the average Joe and Jane. Unfortunately, I cannot say the same for this location. For this particular day I was eating lunch… and that $ 50 a plate I felt like I was more at an outback steakhouse then to Ruth Chris. It was a late lunch around 2PM and I decided to eat at the bar. The restaurant was sparsely populated with just a handful of tables of patrons. Although the bartender was nice I unfortunately was subject to her telling me well more like complaining to me about her being there till midnight the night before having a 30 minute drive home just to come back for lunch taking an hour drive. I normally wouldn’t mind this type of thing but considering this establishment and the prices that they serve and the tips that are reflected of those prices in this economy I would think that person to be a little more grateful or at the very least keep your mouth shut and keep it to themselves. Trying to enjoy my lunch but having the staff complain about their lives and their working situation isn’t what I call a great experience. But the hits just kept coming… I ordered a dish that I order at every Ridgecrest because I love it so much which is there chopped salad. much to my disappointment when the plate was delivered you could see where the chef had wiped off excess dressing off the plate smearing it at least three or four times with a towel… now I’ve seen it done professionally but the question you’re probably asking is how do I know it was a towel? Well I knew because stuck to the side of the plate by one of the white marks was a nice little curl of cotton terrycloth towel leftover stuck to the plate. After that I caught myself closely examining the water glass to make sure there was no lipstick marks on it. My beer was nine dollars my total meal was over $ 53. At those prices I can tell you this right now this Ruth Chris wasn’t worth half of that price and certainly not worth my business the second time around. Sorry Ruth, but you absolutely miss the mark at a slow time during the day with a simple customer set up/meal…

On the evening on the 28th of February my wife and I spent an evening celebrating our 9th Anniversary(just a few days late). As per our tradition we looked for a steakhouse that we had not been to before and decided on Ruth’s Chris Steak House in the Grand Hyatt Downtown San Antonio. Not to waste anyone’s time let’s dive right into the review. It was a cold, rainy night and we walked from our hotel a block away to the restaurant. The restaurant is located in the basement level of the Grand Hyatt but it is a nice location. We were greeted immediately by the hostess and promptly seated. Our server was there shortly and the rest of the evening was quite memorable. Our server, Irene, was a blast. We enjoyed our conversation with her and she made sure we were taken care of promptly all evening. My wife ordered two extra dirty martinis with extra olives and each one came perfect which is not the case at most places. I had a fruity cocktail they said was a signature drink which I felt was less than impressive for the $ 15 price tag. My Crown and Coke was much better. As for the food we started out with the complimentary bread which was fantastic. Then we ordered the Mozzarella and Tomato salad for an appetizer. That was phenomenal. Since that is one of our favorite dishes we have had them at many different restaurants and this was one of the best, if not the best we have had. When it came to the main course, my wife had the Strip steak, I had the Ribeye, and we shared mashed potatoes, and creamed spinach. The meal was cooked perfectly and delivered promptly. The steaks are served on sizzling hot plates that keep a perfect sear on the steaks even as you eat it. Quite delicious. Overall, the food was delicious and the customer service was fantastic. If I had a gripe it would be that the ambiance was more a budget steakhouse style. It was not romantic and posh like is typically expected of a restaurant of that price point. It degraded the experience but I would not consider it enough to downgrade the rating to a four star. It does prevent it from being added to my list of Greatest Eats World Wide.

Was staying downtown for a convention and wanted to get some breakfast, so we came here. This place is located in the bottom floor of the Hyatt Grand, next to the convention center. This place has a great breakfast buffet! They have an omelet station that was fabulous, and the rest of the food is amazing. Besides the great breakfast, the service was TOPNOTCH! I rarely get service this good and will make sure to come back the next time we are in town! The breakfast buffet is about $ 20, but that is pretty standard for the downtown area.

Didn’t do the full-on steakhouse dinner that the restaurant is known for, but did a burger and drinks at the bar before hitting up a party later that night while in town. I give full on props to the staff. They are good… save for leaving 5 menus on the counter during my entire dinner… but other than that they kept the water flowing and were prompt on everything. They get 4⁄5. The food was decent… I’m sure the steaks are great, but this is still a place that trumps the lunch menu(like every other big steakhouse), yet I have yet to find a steakhouse that does a ‘great’ burger. I mean… it was decent. It wasn’t an $ 18 dinner… it was more akin to a $ 9 burger at a gastropub… and I’ve always had better at other places. Fries were spot on though, damn straight. Average experience for a quick meal at an upscale place. Definitely still trying to get a strip steak at one of these places. Been everywhere else…

Such good steak! Sat in the bar area — tons of tvs & huge table tops! The food tasted amazing. My steak was cooked to perfection. The sides are family style which was helpful bc there were so many I wanted to try. Plus the bartender made a mean dirty martini. Best tip about this place: it’s in the lower level of the Hyatt, so no need to even step outside!

Love this Place!!! Review only for Happy hour Headed downtown to pick up a Bday present for the hubby and decided to wait out rush hour and hit up a happy hour somewhere and found Ruth’s and boy I’m glad I did. Ruth’s is located inside the Hilton hotel so that meant parking sucked. There really is nowhere to park outside the hotel due to the location, plus it was raining so I decided to park inside the garage. To my displeasure garage parking was $ 9 :(but I was hoping that due to dining at the restaurant I could get a parking voucher. When I left the restaurant they did stamp my voucher however, I still had to to insert my credit card. Later on I checked my back statement and I didn’t see a a $ 9 charge so I don’t know? The bar atmosphere more casual and you could see into the main dining room which was very romantic. There were TVs(4) and bar tables surrounding the main bar area. Any who since I was by myself I sat at the bar, the bartender Craig was awesome! Very attentive and helpful with menu selections. The happy hour menu was a more expensive then typical establishments happy hours but it was definitely WORTHIT! The menu had food items for $ 9 and drinks for $ 7. I started with a cosmo, it was ok a little on the week side so I moved on to a Manhattan. Craig made this beautiful, it definitely came with a punch which is how I like my drinks! I also ordered the steak sandwich meal, it was AMAZING! So juicy and tender, flavorful. It totally melted in my mouth. It also came with steak fries delicious! Again worth the money! I cannot wait to go back, I have been raving the place to my husband! Hopefully i will be back to dine for dinner although it is expensive but the steaks going through the bar smelled divine!
