Really nice place for a date night! Very old school vibe with some cool things to look at. Smell at first wasn’t great but we got over it quickly. The food: Prickly Pear Frozen Margarita was good. The quail legs were good. New York Strip(medium) was excellent, which is really what matters since that’s what I came here for! Garlic mashed potatoes were just okay. Mudball and espresso were pretty good too! Service was great. Water was never empty and he checked in on us often. Definitely pricey for what you are getting, hence only 4 stars. Plan to spend $ 70+ per person if you are going for 3-course with alcohol. I would come back for the steak!

Good steaks, great location, quaint atmosphere. I don’t know San Antonio well, but we had a company event at the Little Rhein in their downstairs private room — would recommend this to others!

A little hidden gem at end of the Riverwalk. The service was great, food was fantastic. The only downside is it a little pricer than some other places and you have to pay for each item you add on, nothing includes a side. I would highly recommend this place for a date night, just be prepared to pay a little more.

This place is fantastic!!! Found it totally by accident and boy oh boy am I glad we did. Small, historic looking«house» with a stone walled interior and lots of artifacts to admire. Word to the wise… All items are a la cart so it can get a bit pricey, but I ok’d it with the wifey before we entered.(Happy wife, happy life). We,(the wife and I), were impressed with the service, the entrée’s, the sides and the dessert!!! We kind of called it a «celebratory dinner» to acknowledge her having put up with my $hit for 41 years!!!(The woman is a Saint I tell ya!!!). Started it off with a beer for me,(duh), and a Mango Margarita for the little lady. Our server, who’s name I unfortunately do not remember, was fantastic. He had a comically dry sense of humor that only a wise ass such as myself can really, really appreciate. I ordered the 14 oz. «bone in» Ribeye, only because our server suggested it and said it was more«marbled» and«juicier» than the boneless. It was melt in your mouth good and the wife and I shared it cuz even this fat boy can’t down a 14 ouncer all by his lonesome. The wife ordered the Shrimp Scampi which was absolutely awesome and we shared them big boogers as well. For sides,(remember a la cart), we ordered Twice Baked Jalapeño Potatoes, Creamed Spinach and Sautéed Mushrooms, each better than the next, as if that were even remotely possible. Stuffed as we were, we went all out and ordered the«Hill Country Chocolate Caramel Brownie» which was absolutely phenomenal. So glad we found this place!!! Nice joint for a special occasion.

We had the best experience at Little Rhine! Jessica was very accommodating of my new wife’s requests. She even brought us a surprise desert which really topped the whole night off! The ribeye was perfectly cooked and probably the best I’ve ever had!

So good we went two nights in a row! First night was fantastic(one of the best meals I ever had and service was perfect). Second night was only excellent. Had the bone-in ribeye. Wow. Also had the quail legs as an appetizer. Fantastic. Had table outside with a nice view and good weather.

Best Steak house on the river, service was at our pace sometimes we were ready for the waiter and sometimes we were talking and laughing and we were never pressured to rush, but yet the course’s were delivered hot and delicious the décor is Alamo stone walls and period decorations. All in all a great evening, one that I was assured by my friend that was here last year

Moderately disappointed in this meal! 6 small(definitely not jumbo) shrimp for $ 36?! On top of that they weren’t even great. No where on the menu did they say they were deep fried, but that’s how they came out. Batter was thick and overpowering, the lemony aioli that was served with the shrimp did not compliment the flavors. Overall a poorly designed and severely overpriced entrée. I did order the crab stuff avocado which was pretty good! The crab salad was a little too creamy for my preference, but great flavor and the avocado was perfectly ripe. Good service. Cute location! I would definitely find a different restaurant on the riverwalk next time. Not returning to Little Rhein’s.

Angela was absolutely excellent. Our party continued to grow and Angela handled it like a pro. We were served promptly once we arrived and they never missed a beat! Jessica and CYNTHIA were very professional at service and accommodating to our party thank you very much we will return and to the management, you couldn’t have handled is better!

Very nice location. Historic inside dining and terrace patio has view of river. Service nice but not as professional as I anticipated for the reviews and the average cost of an entrée. Wine was put out of reach and my group got a little thirsty when our waitress would not return frequently. My medium rare ribeye was a little more tartar. Presentation was lackluster and sides were severe afterthoughts. The sautéed mushrooms I was served were drowned in a pool of oil and inedible. As a comparison, it’s a Denny’s Diner just in the right location to pass off as a quality restaurant. It’s unfair to the nice service staff that they have to serve such crappy food. I will not be going back in this lifetime or the next.

One of the best filets I’ve ever had! Order it medium and you won’t be disappointed. You also can’t beat the restaurant’s location right on the famous Riverwalk. Highly recommend.

Live in San Antonio for several years, and always thought this would be a fun place to eat. Was not disappoint, great friendly service, my rib-eye and Mary, s chicken breast was superb, great location on the river-walk with great history of SA.

Food was good. We had one drink each(2 guests) and the mixed appetizer. Bill with tip was $ 70. Atmosphere is nice. We sat outside with a view of the River walk. I think its a bit too overpriced.

We enjoyed the Little Rhein’s New Years Eve special menu and third seating, so after a sumptuous meal we had a great spot to enjoy some of the best fireworks ever! Little Rhein does not disappoint on any night, and this evening they rose above and beyond! Each steak serve was perfect. The lobster tails were generous and delish! The wait staff is first class as well. Shawn, our waiter, was perfect.

I have to concur with everyone else. Every time I come to San Antonio I come to the Little Rhein. The food has been amazing and worth the price. This time it has been as expensive as ever but the food was pretty bland. l, not amazing. That makes it three stars. The loss of a star is the wait staff attitude. They need to realize they are not in NYC but Texas where we like hospitality. Everything seemed to be an inconvenience to them: bringing the bread they forgot, closing the door, asking for our drink order. Further, they argued with the table next to us for twenty minutes over a $ 5 dispute –hey management it does not matter if you are right and the customer is wrong. Eat the $ 5 so your other customers do not have to be subjected to the argument. Short of the long that was my last time to an old favorite.

After a few days in San Antonio, I was ready for something non– Tex/Mex. This place is exactly as you would expect. I came here on a Monday night with 6 friends at the recommendation of a hotel concierge. Atmosphere was great. We sat outside, and temperature was good. Lighting was good, not too bright, cheerful. Service was fine, unobtrusive but attentive. Food was okay. I expected a bit more for the price. We got crab claws, shrimp, escargot and crab in avocado appetizers. These were fine, though at $ 3 per crab claw, not sure about the value there. Portions of the sides(potatoes, asparagus, mushrooms) were a bit skimpy. I got the ribeye, medium rare. I would have preferred a thicker cut, but I was very pleased with how well it was cooked. Desserts were good. I got a berry cobbler — pretty standard. All told, 7 persons, apps, entrees, dessert and a couple of drinks — $ 750 + tip. All in all, decent steakhouse in an awesome environment/location.

My parents had an anniversary here tonight and I called ahead to send a bottle of wine. The staff and manager went above and beyond to make their night special and my mom called to tell me it was her favorite meal in a long time. I have also eaten here a couple of times during conferences, and the food is delicious, great wine selection and perfect location on the Riverwalk. I’m so impressed by their above & beyond effort and will definitely be back soon!

The Bottom Line — Come here for the food, not the experience. We came here for a weekend getaway for 1 Year Anniversary. Good location with a nice patio, outdoor seating and indoor seating. Décor was a mix between German heritage and Americana. The dress is more casual than the prices suggest. Service was good for a restaurant, but average for a steakhouse. We ordered an appetizer, two sides, two entrees and a dessert and spent about $ 160 for reference. We Liked… Most of the dishes were on point! The highlights were the Lump Crab Stuffed Avocado and the Toffee dessert. The sides were solid, tasty but not overwhelming. My wife had the Lobster tail and it was a generous portion and cooked to perfection. Ironically, I thought the steak was meh. Good cuts but not very flavorful. The outdoor seating would have been nice if it was a nicer evening. Could have been better… The tableware could use some updating, especially considering the price point of the restaurant. The chairs were old wooden chairs, and the glasses and plates are very industrial. These little touches could be improved to enhance the overall experience.

The whole reason I chose to make a reservation here was because of their beautiful patio dining. It overlooks the river and is great for people watching and just enjoying the beauty of the river. So the restaurant automatically appealed to me for that. The food is 100% not worth what you pay. Not at all. $ 170 dollars included an appetizer of jumbo shrimp($ 14), a salad($ 8) Petite Filet Mignon($ 39), New York Strip($ 48), Side of Creamed Spinach($ 9), Augratin Potatoes($ 8) and a brownie with a scoop of ice cream($ 8). I am putting the prices on here because I don’t believe their online menu has them. You also get served a loaf of bread that is 100% identical to Outback Steakhouse. The food was okay. Everything was fresh, but the steak was really just mediocre. Nothing spectacular. The sides were extremely bland, and the dessert was straight up an out-of-the-box brownie and a scoop of bland ice cream. The service was actually really great, so that alone adds an extra star to this review. Sean was attentive and informative and a really friendly guy. So all in all– I enjoyed the ambiance and the service, but will probably not return, as I desire much more flavor and pizazz in my food.
