Came here with a Groupon and loved it. While I would not categorize it as authentic, it was delicious. In particular I enjoyed the shrimp taco bowl. Very tasty. I have also had their tacos and enjoyed them also. A bit difficult to find, right behind Rudy’s. Tasty. Give it a go but don’t complain that it wasn’t «authentic» enough for ya. UPDATE: El Chris is el closed… Martha’s Tex Mex is not operating in the same location. I’ll have to give is a go.

I went during lunch, and service was quick. Unfortunately, that was only one of two redeeming qualities of this place. My first sign of trouble was when I clearly asked for sweet tea, and it was unsweet. I chalked it up to «ohhh ok, and threw in a pack of sweet & low. I ordered the cheese enchilada and taco lunch special, and was brought my food, which appeared tasty enough. My next sign of trouble was when the waiter asked whether I would like corn or flour tortilla, and I asked if the corn was homemade and he said no. Yes, a very bad sign. My taco shell was obviously vendor bought, and was quite hard. The enchilada, also hard and chewy. The enchilada was reminiscent of Taco Cabana, which is where I should’ve gone instead. The flour tortillas were very good and soft, and homemade. With about 10 mins. to spare, I paid and included a tip(begrudgingly). Two stars.

I really really want to like this place because it’s so close to my work and house but I’ve gone there twice now and the service was PAINFULLY slow. The first time I went was for lunch which could be understandable except that it wasn’t busy at all. We waited about 45 minutes for our food. The food was good though so I decided to have my birthday get together there. We called ahead for 15 people. They were very nice and very accommodating. Our waiter was very nice and attentive for about the first 15 minutes and then we didn’t see him for about an hour. We learned that apparently, their cook had to go out on a family emergency so our waiter had to sub as cook. How do you not have a backup plan for that on a Saturday night? After an hour of not even seeing our waiter or being asked by anyone else if they could help us with anything, the food finally came out about an hour and a half after placing our order. Again, it was good but two people did not get their chili rellenos and were told they ran out. They chose this point to ask them what else they wanted. These people are nice overall but need to learn how to run a restaurant. I may give them one more chance giving the benefit of a learning curve but I’m done after that.

Being a resident of SA and enjoying all the Mexican food it offers, this restaurant is by far the worst! I thought since it was new, it would offer great service and amazing hot food… it offered none of that. Our server mentioned it was his first day, yet he was the only one working the tables. There was what looks to be the manager or owners family there, watching tv and doing nothing… mean while staring at my family the whole time making it extremely uncomfortable. Food took over an hour to get to us(we were the only ones there!), never got what we asked for, food was cold, bland and overpriced!
