I only come here for the Chile Relleno. Quite tasty and always has plenty of beef and plenty of extra egg batter on the pepper. Chips are average and sauce is very mild. They actually charge me sometimes when I ask for butter. And they add 25 cents for using a credit card. I don’t visit often enough to grade anything else — but my Dad used to enjoy the cheese enchiladas. They have $ 5.99 lunch specials with tea and apparently $ 4.99 all-day specials without.

I love their breakfast tacos. The food is always good and they are not sheisty with the servings! The woman at the window(who I believe is the owner) is always friendly :) it may take a few mins but to me its worth the wait.

Ever since Taco Hut shut down in the late 90s the SE side of San Antonio was left with a huge void when it came to good Mexican food at an affordable price. Several years later Blanquita’s on Goliad fills that void. The place is small and nothing fancy on the outside or in but don’t be intimidated. They have a TV that features novelas and other Spanish speaking TV fare as well as good Spanish rice, delicious and huge homemade flour and corn tortillas and Mexican coke. I ordered the carne guisada plate, which was delish. Next time I eat here I am definitely getting tacos. Now all Blanquita’s need is a liquor license so they can serve beer, micheladas and margaritas and they will be good to go so neighborhood locals won’t have to venture to either Don Pedro’s, Nicha’s, Chacho’s, Mama Margie’s or Mi Tierra to satisfy their Mexican/Tex-Mex food fix.

My dad and I would come here every morning before school for at least two months. The tacos are always fresh and delicious. This was the first place that he found a good machacado taco that he fell in love with! Literally every taco I’ve had here has sent my stomach to a happy place. Also, the lemonade is PERFECT. I absolutely recommend this restaurant.

Ignore anyone that gives this place less than four stars. Their prices are very competitive, their menu is solid Mexican fare, the owners are very polite and the establishment may not be flashy but it’s clean. For what this is, it excels. City workers and military can get discounted food. I’d suggest the Rancheros or potato and egg breakfast.

A colleague and I came here on a restaurant adventure– seeking to try something new. The tripa taco was to die for– perfectly crispy tripas in a huge, warm, homemade tortilla– mmmmmmmm. The boracho beans were delicious and flavorful. We also had a chicken puffy taco which was also huge. The chicken was good but could have had more flavor for my taste. They also have cheap lunch specials that come with tea for those on a budget.

I didn’t even finish the meal. I think it’s even illegal to serve up this kind of torture in prison. I just pretended I had to go and paid like I was excusing myself from a horrible date. It wasn’t even worth mentioning how horrible this place is. I think I actually gagged. I had the M____Plate with enchiladas and beef tacos. On the plus side, the tortillas that come with the meal are homemade and the portions are generous. But the beef was watery. Even worse than Taco Bell or Mexican Food night a your local prison. It was pretty disgusting. The enchiladas did not taste good at all. I took two bites. I only took one bite of the taco. Three bites for $ 10. I knew walking into the place that I was making a mistake, but I saw the other reviewers and had faith in them. I guess we just have different tastes in food. If you are looking for great Mexican in San Antonio, go to Guajillo’s about 25 minutes north near I-410 Blanco Rd.

Ahh Blanquita’s — a really outstanding mom and pop taco joint on Goliad. This place is about substance over form. It isn’t one of those places you would take a date. It is rocking the«cheap diner» ambiance. White linoleum and bare bones seating. During holiday seasons they suspend little cardboard cupids or four-leaf clovers from the ceiling just like they did back in elementary school. But then you taste the food! Expertly crafted homemade tortillas stuffed to the breaking point with eggs, peppers, and cheese! Machacado con huevo! Migas! Damn, this lady knows how to make a taco. And the portion size is generous. The chicken soup is also crazy delicious. It comes with a tasty broth with slabs of chicken and ginormous chunks of fresh vegetables. Fabulous. The only thing that could possibly make it better is if it were easy to grab and go — and lo and behold, there’s a drive-thru window. A special bonus of the drive-thru window is that you interact with Blanquita herself, who always sports a new interesting neon shade of nail polish. I love this place.
