We decided to eat here because we wanted steak and didn’t want to drive far. I ended up ordering the chicken fried steak, baked potato(fries is another option) and salad(soup is the other option). He ordered the«cut» sirloin steak with same side and the jumbo shrimp plate(they only have fried). The chicken fried steak was ok, not the greatest but at least it wasn’t a frozen patty or at least it didn’t taste like it. I’ll give it a 6. My husband’s steak was good. Kind of thin but it had a good flavor. It was kind of fatty though. Can’t go wrong on a baked potato. Salad was a salad. Now our waiter was great. He asked every 5 mins if we needed anything else. The jumbo shrimp were split in half and flattened. Not impressed. They had no flavor. I’m giving it a 2 because the service. The food wasn’t that bad but it also wasn’t the greatest. We’ve paid the same amount for this type of food on the Northside of SA and better tasting. I don’t think I’ll be coming back. Sorry.

I have visited the Beef & Bourbon multiple times in my lifetime and never have had a bad meal. To be honest I have only ever ordered one thing on their menu and that is the House Special. It’s a ribeye steak with grilled vegetables and cheese poured over it. It comes with a soup or salad and fries or baked potato. I have only gotten the salad and fries. The meat is always cooked to my specifications and the service is great. That is the only thing I ever order there because when we go there it is always a treat and I don’t want to ruin it by ordering something unknown.

First, know that this is the best restaurant on the far East side of San Antonio. This is a great neighborhood steakhouse. If you are looking for a five star experience this and all east side restaurants are not for you. They have good steaks and great beef soup. To me there is something cozy about the interior that screams 1950s. Red vinyl and dark woods.

I went here on a suggestion — — I can see that it hasn’t changed much in the reviews placed here before mine — I should have checked first before going: Sad! Sad! Sad! The ambience was lacking and kind of reminded me of an overdone Mel’s diner from the 70’s. I ordered a T-Bone and was oh so disappointed. Well done, does not mean charred and tough. This obviously wasn’t a great cut(I wasn’t expecting a lot at the $ 13.00 price) but I was expecting something more than the shoe leather I was served. The service was slow, the busboy looked like a local gang-banger. The only part of the meal that was good was the soda. I give it one whole star and I think that is being generous. Little Red Barn is 5 minutes away — go there! When I paid, the cashier asked«How was everything?!» I simply bit my tongue and replied«That is not a question you want an answer to!» and left — — I won’t be back unless I see some glowing reviews or someone tells me that I trust to try it again.

A man is getting hungry for dinner in a town he doesn’t know well. He asks his GPS for something along the lines of a steakhouse. The GPS advises him that nearby is a place called«Beef and Bourbon». The man thinks to himself: I like beef, and I like bourbon. The man has made a mistake. Let me break this place down a for you: — the word Bourbon is in the name, and yet there is no bar. — it’s part of a strip mall. — the windows are all blocked so that no outside light gets in. — the menus also double as your place-mat. — to say the interior is decorated hap-hazardously, would be kind. The food isn’t terrible, but when a «house special» at a steakhouse involves copious amounts of cheese melted over a ribeye, your expectations should be low. Service was okay. Prices were fair. I would not go back.

I’ve been back in my hometown for the last week house-sitting for my parents and taking care of my grandmother. She’s completely capable of doing those two tasks, but she wanted company and has paid for most of my meals. Who am I to complain! She wanted a chicken fried steak and suggested this place. That’s what I ordered and that’s what she ordered. Seating was no problem and, although they had a hostess, we were told to seat ourselves. The waiter was prompt and only slightly disinterested. I had my water and my grandmother had her tea in short order. I ordered a Chicken Fried Steak with a baked potato and side salad. They do not have any light dressings, but thankfully they bring the dressing out on the side. We each received two full sides of dressing. I used about 1⁄10th of the dressing I received. I was eating at a rather leisurely pace; the Chicken Fried Steak came out as I was nearly finished. The baked potato was perfectly fine, though nothing special, and the Chicken Fried Steak was fairly good. By itself I would have probably given it a three-star rating. We ate slowly — my grandmother ate especially slowly, as usual. As I was paying, the hostess was short on my change by two dollars, so I waited for her to find more cash. After about 5 minutes, another couple came and paid(in cash, thankfully) and so I was able to get my change. For two Chicken Fried Steak dinners and a tea, the bill came to $ 18, plus tip, so the price is right. The hostess seemed generally disinterested and unapologetic. It was a minor quibble, and it didn’t really bother me, but it still seemed worthy of a passing ‘sorry.‘ Overall, the staff and food was uninspired, though the food was inexpensive and acceptably tasty. I’d go here again if it was suggested, but I would probably never suggest it myself.

Ok well this place was interesting to say the least. My mother and I were on our way back into town from Austin. We decided hey why not try this place. Bad move on our part! We were gonna goto Little Red Barn but last minute our mom’s friend recommended this place. OK so the waitress sucked, gave us rude faces and never came by our table. We had to get other waitresses to help us. The food was decent I suppose which is why I give 2 stars. The bread rolls were good. Then just when we were about to leave. The bus boy splashes my mom with someone else’s drink! He was being careless about not placing but throwing the dishes from the table next to us onto his cart. That was defiantly the sign that we shouldn’t come back. Oh and the décor sucked too! If you want awesome service, food, and atmosphere goto Little Red Barn, you won’t regret it!
