Been coming here for 3 years and this year things are different, or at least this meal was! I’ve always Loved the weekend Buffalo Prime rib, always get the end cut for more well-done and seasoning, but it has lost a lot of its flavor and was quite rare. Thought I’d save the meal by ordering the Crème Brûlée, but the sugar top was thin, non-existent in some parts and cold. The service was lackluster as well, except for the great Buser! Things have changed! As you can tell I don’t do many reviews, I usually just don’t have the time, but I felt this one was needed. I travelled over 400 miles from Phoenix to have Father’s Day with my Dad and this was supposed to be highlight of our days. I was going to give 1 star, which I think is really harsh, but because of the great Buser who saved the day by bringing my Dad his Vietnam Veteran hat he had forgotten at the table. Looks like we’ll be cancelling tomorrow’s reservations!

The ambience is cool. Maybe they should have spent a little more on preparing the food instead of stuffed bobcats. I was really excited to come here to celebrate my friends birthday. The reviews made it sound like it was fabulous… However, if you know anything about steak and potatoes, ain’t nothing fabulous about this place… The bread arrived looking like it got cut by my 5 year old nephew. The waitress’s suggested the flat iron as the best steak, so even though I wanted the New York sirloin I went with her advice. Both mine and my friends was fatty, gamey and looked a lot like spam. The baked potato was overcooked and the onion straws had a weird burnt flavor… For $ 20 I might as well have gone to outback or Texas Roadhouse and I’m sure their $ 10 – 15 steak would have been better. I don’t know if people who love it here don’t know good meat or what, but I would never come here again. The waitress never returned to ask how the food was. I will pass next time on the overly fatty chewy meat and go somewhere else. *kudos on the garlic ranch dressing. Only redeemable item I ate tonight.

Came here on a recent trip to St George I was really intrigued by all the choices but after I got here I decided on something else. For starters the overall restaurant is nicely laid out and has a good feel and upon our arrival the hostess greeted us immediately and was super friendly and sat us right away. Once seated our waiter came over and greeted us as well and went over the menu. I was a little taken back over the prices of $ 10 bottles of wine marked up to almost $ 30! But i know it’s the way it is… I decided not to go with steak and went with the salmon and was really looking forward to it. That is where this place lost a few stars for me. I asked for it not to be so overcooked and well it was. Plus it came with some weird mustard sauce which was not edible to me so it was scraped off. So for me the service was 4+ stars but the food was barely a 2 – 3 stars. Maybe next time go back for steak and wild game options.

On Monday night(at least this Monday) they offered a 6oz prime rib for $ 18.95. The flavor was good; however, a little on the stringy side. There was no «crust» on the outside which disappointed me a little(love the char), but overall the taste was good. The meal came with either soup or salad and one side, I choose the salad with garlic mash potatoes. Not bad. I also had a glass of castle creek wine(local winery), it was good. I topped it all off with a carnal/pecan cheese cake, which was very good. Would I recommend coming here? Yes, overall it was good.

Got the buffalo ribs for $ 30, came with 5 large ribs, a side, and side salad. It was plenty of food and good service and atmosphere. Didn’t expect the ribs to be very«gamey» but they were. They were still good though. Even though this place is expensive $ 18-$ 30/plate, I’ll come back.

We were on the road and looked on Unilocal for a steak house. This one does not disappoint! We enjoyed an Elk steak and my husband had the Monday night special Prime Rib. The dinners all come with soup or salad and your choice of side. We both got a baked potato and it came with all the fixings including bacon! We each had a cocktail and found the bill to be reasonable. We would return! Our waitress Nicole was also super good and friendly.

Great menu and service. Our server(Nathan) was very attentive. My wife and I both had steaks with incredible flavor and prepared as asked.

Fantastic lodge-themed steak house on the outskirts of Saint George. The menu boasts a number game meat dishes(buffalo and elk) — one of which I ordered called«the velvet elk». Boneless pieces of elk were grilled to perfection at medium rare and served with a mushroom and sun-dried tomato demi glacé. The elk was tender and the demi glacé was rich and wonderful. The garlic mashed red potatoes were the perfect accompaniment. I started the meal with a crazy onion ring tower that had enormous sized rings! Gun Barrel is popular and fills up fast even on nights early in the week. The staff was efficient, methodical and on-point. The grill is open view to the dining room which also has a great stone fireplace. The décor also contains taxidermy themed accouterments. This place is great and I am so thankful to have discovered it. I had never eaten elk before and it really is a must-eat for any carnivore!

YUM. Everything was so amazing and our server, Lori, was awesome! I think we might have made the staff a little nervous being rowdy out of towners as they sat us in the back corner of the restaurant. but it was okay because we were a little rowdy and it was a great spot for us! Lori was helpful with beer and food suggestions and made us feel very welcome. I got the stuffed trout, boyfriend got the elk steak, and our couple friends shared the platter with prime rib, buffalo ribs, and elk steak. We loved everything! I ordered the cookie skillet and it was devoured in seconds. Amazing place and awesome décor! Next time we’re in St. George we will definitely be back hopefully when Lori is working!

While I’ve had a decent meal here before, the food tonight was thoroughly disappointing. Ordering a rare steak shouldn’t be a challenge at a steakhouse. I ordered the special, a bone in ribeye that I would expect to be cooked perfectly. The first one I was served was cooked solid, on a grill that was much too hot. Mine wasn’t even the only overcooked steak delivered to the table! The replacement was cooked very rare, cheers to the chef for being able to barely heat a piece of meat. I’m ok with that if the meat is quality, so I didn’t say anything at that time. What they forgot with the replacement was flavor. It had absolutely no salt. No flavor. No crust. Just a piece of meat heated on a grill. I’ve had a better steak in Denny’s. It’s shocking that a steak restaurant doesn’t understand the proper way to cook a steak. Maybe the chef should go eat at a real steakhouse once. Oh well. I won’t be returning to the gun barrel. Texas Roadhouse can do a great steak for a better price without a two hour wait. Comments from the rest of my group were mediocre at best. For one of the high end restaurants in this town they really shouldn’t let meals like this leave the kitchen.

Professional and attentive service. Everyone smiles and makes you feel comfortable. My drink was always kept full without needing to ask. Dining room is clean and kept in good condition. I ordered the prime rib. Not that well seasoned but it was cooked perfectly.

The buffalo ribs were falling off the bone tender… our party also tried elk and buffalo steak and elk medallions. The veggies were nicer done as well. The atmosphere is rustic and cool even though it looks like a new place, if you don’t mind stuffed animals and the like. ONEWARNING: don’t make a reservation via Unilocal because the restaurant doesn’t sync up with this system.(Not sure if they’ll eventually remedy this oversight.,) I called to let them know we were running late, which luckily is how I discovered they hadn’t received my reservation. Even though it was busy on New Year’s Eve, they were extremely accommodating. Service was fairly smooth considering the holiday crowd.

Good hearty food, rustic atmosphere and a Tesla charger across the parking lot! They served Elk… it was very lean. glad we had a chance to taste it! Met with some great friends, Nancy and Mark Gilmore! St George was great fun!

Oh wow. This place was amazing. The interior is very cool. It’s like going to a hunting lodge. Which makes perfect sense since your belly is about to be filled up with some wild game. I had the sampler plate with the Buffalo Prime Rib, Elk steak and Buffalo Rib. Oh man. The meat was sooo good. Probably the best buffalo steak I have ever had. So flavorful and juicy! The elk had good flavor and was very lean which was a good compliment to the fattier buffalo. The buffalo rib was okay. Very sinewy. The sides were delicious as well. I was very impressed and next time I am in St. George I will return!

The guy who took our reservation was very helpful. He offered us the quietest table to celebrate my husband’s birthday with another couple. Very nice, clean bathrooms. The busboy was good to keep our drinks full and cleared away dirty dishes. Everyone liked their food – chopped sirloin with mushroom and onion gravy, wild rice pilaf, french onion soup, salads, sirloin and buffalo steaks, fish and chips, sweet potato fries, steamed veggies and garlic mashed potatoes. We had to ask for the complimentary bread which ended up being small and blah. Our waiter was okay. He explained the specials and got our orders correct. But the end of our meal cost him one star. He rushed us even though the restaurant didn’t close for hours. And he brought our bill without asking if we wanted dessert, which I did!

I loved everything about my visit to Gun Barrel Steak House. My husband and I were staying overnight in St George before heading to Zion the following day to celebrate my birthday. I love the old west décor, and the fact that everything is mesquite grilled. We started out with the appetizer platter: Fried green tomatoes were a nice change from your typical fried appetizer. Potato boats were pretty standard. The wings were excellent, so meaty and the buffalo sauce had just the right amount of kick without being too oily. I really wanted to order something I didn’t typically see at steakhouses, so I went with one of the specials for the evening, a buffalo sirloin cooked to the recommended medium rare. This may be a little too pink for some people but it’s how I typically prefer my steaks to be cooked so I had no problem going along with the recommendation. My steak came with soup or salad(I went with the later) as well as a side of my choosing(I had the baked sweet potato with maple butter). My husband had the buffalo ribs. They reminded us of when Fred Flintstone used to order the brontosaurus ribs, these suckers were huge. He also got a salad and went with veggies for his side. Both of our meals also came with onion straws. All of the food was excellent. The buffalo sirloin was juicy and flavorful, without being gamey. The ribs were so tender, but a bit over sauced. I liked my husbands peas almost as much as my baked sweet potato(the maple butter made it so sweet, it was almost like dessert instead of a side dish). Service was good. Our waitress was friendly and took great care of us, answering all of our questions about the different specials. Our water was never below half full and we were offered refills on our hot tea more than once. I would absolutely return to Gun Barrel if I was craving some buffalo, elk or even some good old beef.
