Jason’s Deli

We went here for lunch today. I saw on the tabletop that this location is closing this month, so I was glad I made it in to try it. I ordered the club royale and a cup of French onion soup. The sandwich was so so. The French onion soup was good, especially considering that it was vegetarian.
The service was friendly and the price was average, but nothing stood out to make me want to return

How did we not know about this place before? Great sandwich’s and salad bar. Don’t forget free soft serve ice cream cone.

A great sandwich, we had the Ruben and it was by far the best we have had in VA. Highly recommend this place to everyone.

If they are busy, go elsewhere. we went on Sunday July 5^th at 1 PM. Our table was washed off before we sat down, but took 4 napkins to dry it enough to use the table. I ordered the Cuban press, came out as a ham sandwich with way too much mustard. Son had roast beef sandwich, it was well done, and dry. Wife had a Ruben, she loved it. i attribute the bad food to being busy, and poor management. chips were fresh, there is no reason on Gods green earth that we need to pay 2 + dollars for ice tea.

Great sandwich place. We love coming here before hitting the mall especially since the mall food court is no longer. You order at the register and they bring it to your table. Makes it easy for a family with little ones.
Lots of drink selections and the salad bar is wonderful. I always order the club royal. Delicious. My father has a gluten allergy and they have a pretty diverse menu for him.
Service is typically great, today I felt like the person coming by to clean up plates was coming by too frequently and interrupted conversations.
Did I mention free ice cream?

Ordered delivery for our group function. Food was delivered an hour late. One of the lunches was Shrimp Mango Salad. Delivered with NO shrimp. Other lunches were to be identified with individual’s name — not done — had to search through bags to identify the recipient. Would not recommend them for group lunch.

Great service and good food. We got extra dessert by mistake but we’re told to keep it. The server didn’t realize we had already gotten our dessert. Also, the bathrooms smelled clean. That’s definitely a plus in my book. Another thing that was awesome to find out, free items on the salad bar and free ice cream. The manager was super friendly and made us feel like we were at home. I would definitely go back anyday. This place is amazing awesome I recommend it to anyone who wants a good sandwich. Also, my brownie was perfect. My girlfriend told that her carrot cake was excellent as well. They cater too. This place is definitely a thought if you need food for an event. Come here sometime and experience a great meal with a great team of people.

Catered for a business meeting lunch from this place. They gave us a very decent food. I ordered Santa Fe chicken sandwich and others ordered almost everything on the menu. I didn’t hear any fouls words about the food. I can certainly tell you mine … It was great ! Best thing is they deliver at your destination which puts them in a different basket than other vendors !! Long story short — awesome food, try atleast once !!

First of all let me say, I love Jason’s, have eaten at many in several states, and have never been disappointed. This has to be the worst I’ve been to. The staff seemed to be playing games and having fun while neglecting the place. Only one was trying to do their job. The salad bar hadn’t been replenished in some time and was dirty. No one seemed to be cleaning tables, and the ice cream machine looked like it had not been operational in some time. The sandwich I had couldn’t compare to any other Jason’s I’ve been to and my wife found the salad bar to be disgusting. The manager at this Jason’s definitely needs to be replaced.

Ate lunch here one time, and usually giving a review always be good. Friendly staff, a lady help me with some good choice of bread and such. The unlimited salad bar was pretty neat, everything was good, free chips, nice place to eat when I am on a strict healthy diet. Def be back

Went for lunch and the salad bar at this Jason’s Deli was very good. Its an endless salad bar so getting multiple servings is encouraged. They had a great selection of fresh lettuce (3 different types of greens), huge variety of salad dressings (including a fat free Italian) and a healthy dose of toppings to put in your salad.
For a relatively healthy lunch this is a spot I would recommend (if you are stuck in the Short Pump area and running out of choices). Under $ 10 bucks and its possible to get a good and light meal.

I am a REAL Deli Fan, and Jason’s in the past 8 years sure has obtain my business. Their sandwiches are always Hot and the soup are fresh. Yesterday, I had lunch in their and I wanted something light, so I tackled the Salad Bar. What I like is about their Salad Bar… it is neat and clean. I see them constantly refreshing it with new lettuce and other items.
When I walked in, I saw the sign which said Sailor Sandwich on Sale «While it Lasts». Since Jason’s at this Restaurant and at Willow Lawn are the ONLY two Jason’s which makes this «Richmond Original» Sandwich… I had to ask, what did they mean by, «While It Lasts». The Manager informed me that they will be discontinuing The Sailor after 8 years of having it on their Menu.
To say the least, I was shocked as I find it hard to believe a Deli will not offer the ONE sandwich which was designed and created here in Richmond during WWII by the New York Deli in Carytown. I can understand as to why this sandwich is not offered in other cities, however when you come into Richmond as a Deli… you want to give the Richmonders what they want.
I am extremely disappointed to say the least, and I am hoping I can stop this by writing to their Home Office. I encourage for you to do the same as The Sailor Sandwich is a «Richmond» as they can get… and to be a TRUE Deli here… you must carry The Sailor. If Jason’s does discontinue this Great Sandwich, than this means I will be going to a Deli which offers this Sandwich.
So, I ask all of my Unilocal fans and those who eat at Jason’s… let’s speak out and let them know… We want them to continue The Sailor Sandwich. So, write your email to

We love Jason’s Deli, enjoyed everything we’ve eaten. The baked potatoe was huge (see pic). My kids love the frozen yogurt! Great family friendly eating spot.

Service is terrible. Use to be great service but its gone down hill.
The rudest staff on a sat night a 7pm! It wasn’t even busy! Rest fo Richmond must know its not worth it!
