It’s too bad RP closed, but I know there were issues(including one that made the news). The one time I visited for a meal(rather than just to go) I had the prix-fixe for two with a bottle of wine. The food was good if no-frills. The bartender was acting as order-taker(not sure how typical that was) and didn’t quite seem to know what he was doing out from behind the bar. He was nice enough but wreaked of cigarette smoke.

Love their food! It’s always a favorite breakfast spot for me on the weekends, when near the Riverwalk. Prices are reasonable, great old-tyme style bar that makes a mean Bloody Mary and I LOVE their little grocery section, since they offer items that no one in town seems to have heard of that I’d otherwise have to order online.(Hello, Mr. T’s Cucumber Soda!) I hope that they are able to remain just as they are, because I’ll keep patronizing Reno Provisions as much as possible.

Everyone told me I was going to like this guy. I mean, my friends talked him up like he was something truly special. I’d never met him before, but I was excited and nervous to see what he had to offer. I’d heard that other people had gone on dates with him and loved him! …this analogy isn’t working. And, I’m sorry to be a total hater but… neither is Reno Provisions. I was VERY excited to finally try RP. It was all I’d heard about from so many people. I gave it some time so the«kinks» could be addressed, and then walked in off the streets for what I hoped was a real treat. But instead of a treat it was more just like… «um…wut?». And that feeling never quite went away. Is it a cafeteria? A bar? A boutique grocery? A deli? A bakery? An upscale lunch spot? A casual place to grab a quick bite? The truth is, it’s all of those things. But because there’s no congruity between them, it’s also none of those things. There’s not one distinctive feel that I as a patron can grab hold of when I walk in, and as a result I spend my lunch hour feeling sort of lost eating off of my Orange Is The New Black cafeteria tray and sipping my truly decadent cocktail.(Um…wut?) Not to say there aren’t elements of the whole idea that aren’t attractive. I love the idea of Reno Provisions. It just needs a makeover with some better spacial considerations and congruity. The layout is a bit bonkers. Totally confusing. The dining space needs to feel less like a warehouse with some wallpaper. I’d do something to the entry area that ushers you in, dropped lighting, a half-wall that makes the bar it’s own space, maybe making the dining space it’s own as well. Booths? Maybe not a bad idea. It’d lessen the hard surfaces and subsequently, the noise. The deli/bakery/candlestick-makery-thing…It needs to feel less like an afterthought in the space. It’s lonely back there. It’s a little sad. And the FAR back space is just lost. Does anyone even venture back there? I think there’s a drink case or maybe a grocery display or perhaps the Siberian Tundra? Um… wut? Okay, enough about the aesthetics. Which, clearly, are important to me. The food is… a little lost as well. I’ve been here on 4 different occasions and each time I left feeling not-quite-thrilled. Like a 7 out of 10(which might be the most frustrating rating of all time). Health-wise and Celiac-wise…I appreciate the spread. RP has options for the health-conscious and that is fabulous. But taste-wise it’s just a little… lacking. I don’t know, I hate giving such a «blah» review without pointing to specifics. But hey, I DID give the place four shots before making my opinion known. That’s fair, right? Like…‘7 out of 10′ fair. Totally infuriating, I know.

Great comfortable for just hanging out. You can purchase food from the deli and bring it to the bar area to eat. Very imaginative, interesting drinks. We enjoyed a tasting for 4 that comes with a very nice bottle for $ 40.

I went in for a quick bite to eat before my ceramics class. I was greeted as soon as I came in the door. I found my early day choices to be very limited. I decided on a sausage roll. It was a tasty link sausage roll wrapped in phillo dough. It was good, but was over powered by the phillo dough.

A definite well needed addition to Reno! Those that live in downtown Reno, now have a place to go to get quality ingredients. The location is easy to get to, with free parking with validation at the Parking Garage right across the street. A wide variety of products are available here for anyone’s tastes. Some local meats and produce along with a lot of unique processed foods. Take the time to walk all the way through the place to come across some great gift ideas in the corners. There is something there for any foodie that you might need a gift for. The deli area is open so you can see your food being prepared and you can talk to the guys while they make it for you. They are all very knowledgeable about the products and have suggestions to help you prepare your purchase.

Reno Provisions, I have to admit, has really grown on me over the last few months. At first, I was really skeptical and didn’t understand it but living downtown, I’ve found myself going back more frequently for breakfast and lunch items. It is a really nice location on the corner and it’s super bright and airy with its huge windows. There is a nice case of pastries plus all of the food that is either made to order or already prepared. I’ve been happy with everything I’ve gotten with the exception of the Power Plate which left me wishing I got the Bootmill Sandwich(trading greens for bacon and potatoes). The selection of food and drink for sale to take home has grown immensely since they first opened and it is a really nicely curated selection of grocery items. I’m now really excited that Reno Provisions is downtown. I feel like it will really help the downtown resurgence and contribute to more old casino/hotels being converted into living space.

This place has it all; great food, wonderful ambience, and an incredible staff. As you enter the establishment, you are immediately greeted by a cheery Reno Provisions employee. You walk past a live stage set-up(they had a terrific blues performer when I visited), through a market area(with lots of yummy things to buy), and order at the counter. It was extremely difficult for me to choose what to eat as everything on the menu looked delicious. I decided to go with the Tuna Salad Sandwich with a side of Caesar Salad and Fruit Salad. Oh, and I couldn’t resist purchasing a meringue on whim. They just looked so yummy. Also, the woman at the counter was a whiz at up-selling. I was a goner as soon as she mentioned a «crunchy rice center». The food was delicious. It was all very refreshing and wholesome. The Tuna Salad Sandwich has fresh spring greens and a tasty Italian-esque dressing, all tucked on top of the tuna and between two fresh slices of wheat bread. The Caesar is perfectly mixed; the dressing was neither too light nor too heavy. The meringue was messy but very good; it was nice to end a light meal with a light dessert. The other member of my party ordered the Rib Dinner and she too enjoyed her meal as much as I did mine. I plan on making a trip back as soon as I can. And next time I’m ordering the meatloaf sandwich, because if there are two foods I love more than sushi, it’s meatloaf and sandwiches. Happy feasting!

Well this was my first time going to Reno Provisions for dinner, and the wife and I are where pleasantly surprised on how awesome the place was. It reminded us of a few places in the bay area that we go to . We walked in and the décor was great, and looked like everything was clean. Because if shit isn’t clean you leave and leave fast. So we get up to the area to order some food, the employees where incredibly helpful and very nice. They convinced us to try the dinner for two for $ 37. Which included two 8oz steak dinners that came with caeser salad and twice bake potatoes and a bottle of wine either red or white which is house wine but decent wine. The red wine was copas, which was good. Our friends had the white wine and they said it was good. But the thing is for $ 37 for that was a deal in a half, and the best part, was that it was amazing! The steaks where cooked to perfection, the twice baked potatoes where amazing and the salads where the right size. The dinners for 2 change every week which means the wine changes as well. Which is fun and makes you try new things. The atmosphere was great, some music in the background and couldn’t ask for a great night out. Reno has been looking for something like this for a while and its here. They have a good range of local meats for the there deli and also have a butcher there as well. And if you’re looking to have some craft beers for dinner they have a nice selection, including champagne and other wines. Look give it a try, I was impressed and I will be going back real soon.

Ok, so we’ve been here again a couple of times since my first experience. Look, I’m trying to love this place! We got here on a Saturday, again too early for anything except eggs(I don’t eat eggs). We asked the kitchen side of the house if we could get charcuterie in the bar area, like we did last time, and they said no you have to wait until noon. It was 11. I told my husband we could always sit in the bar, have a mimosa and discuss where we could go eat. To which I hear a snide remark from those behind the counter something to the tone of: «oh, nice». Despite that I went for my mimosa, I’m not going to let one obnoxious employee spoil my Saturday morning. The bartender was attentive and makes a delicious mimosa! Especially 241 in a single glass, love it :) So around 1140 – 1145 we ask for a menu and decide well just eat there. We decide to go with the grand tasting again, because we just love meats and cheeses. Apparently those in the kitchen were paying attention to the fact I had ordered because it took almost 30 min to get the charcuterie. There was NOWAY they were going to allow that food to come out of the kitchen until well after noon. It was not lost on the bartender, who continued to apologize for the amount of time it was taking to get cold, sliced meats and cheeses out. We enjoyed our meal in between the wailing of several small children and despite the less than awesome service from the other side of the house, the bartender was great.

Cha-cha-cha changes… And boy have there been a lot of them since RP opened! Lets start at the bar, where you can find a great selection of spirits, house craft cocktails, beer and wine. My favorite is the Negroni on tap, which I like to enjoy during«Aperitivo Hour» when, with each drink you order you receive a special snack spread. It starts with house dips and spreads, then on to cheese, and eventually a small charcuterie plate! Next, the market has finally come into its own, with beautiful racks, shelves and fixtures displaying a vast array of gourmet goodies from artisanal maple syrup, to my personal favorite, Kosher chocolate covered marshmallows! But you’ll also find sauces and seasonings, snacks, craft sodas and a whole lot more. The prepared foods/cafeteria program has also evolved, offering guests a good variety to choose from in an easier to order fashion. Sandwiches are stacked with meat, salads are substantial, and everything is served with a smile. This last visit I had the Spicy Tuna salad, chunk white albacore mixed with a light dressing(not mayo) and served with spicy pickled peppers over power greens. I asked aboht the tuna and the guy on the line quickly offered a sample. I asked about the dressing and he didn’t have the answer but quickly called down to the chef to find out for me! In the end, this was a great salad made better by the great service. The butcher and bakery cases have a lot of new items in them, many of which are made in house. I love seeing all the beautiful meat and Salumi on display. Unfortunately this is an area that surprised me on my last visit. The prices on the housemade Salumi nearly doubled. RP uses heritage animals and top quality ingredients, along with a lot of time, to make this stuff, and I felt the original price of $ 7−15/lb was kind of low, but I was sticker shocked when I went to purchase it this time. These prices, along with all the new products and aesthetic upgrades, align RP with other specialty grocers and markets around the country. In a sense it’s now way closer to what we’d all expected it to be when they opened, and I’m very excited to see where they go from here.

Although have been in Provisions several times — this review is for a recent Pop Up dinner Provisions has a small party room right behind the bar, just the right size for the 15 of us that dared Chef Estee’s New England Pop Up. Two tables of eight where nicely set with white linens, wine glasses and all the utensils you needed for chowing down on some of the best seafood Chef could get. As we sat we started with a choice of red or white wine, or a selection of three beers. The first course arrives in brown paper bags– piping hot, corn meal battered, fried Ipswich clams. As in many of Chef Estee’s large dinners, the appetizer and wine can easily make a dinner. So trying hard not to fill up on these great bites we save room for the next platter. Straight from the oven comes a platter of stuffed Quahog clam. Large shells packed with a deep delicious clam stuffing, mmmm. Ok I enjoyed two of these big bad boys, still trying to save room. Bowls of broth and butter are now set in front of each of us as part of the next course. To each table comes two ceramic pots of steamers. Not just average guys, but big boys, Palm size. Chef steps out and give a quick demo on how to eat them– I posted it, watch it, you’ll enjoy his enthusiasm. It’s just an endless seafood smörgåsbord that kept coming to us. And all along the beer and wine glasses never saw empty. Platters of sweet corn and potatoes preceded the final massive presentation– armies of two pound huge red Maine lobsters. I had only dreamed of such a heavenly beast. And now that big boy was hanging over all the sides of the plate in front of me. I almost fell backwards trying to get him all in the picture. Chef comes around and offers to prepare him but since I was sitting with chef and butcher Cling Jolly, I dug in with my hands and learned how to disassemble that bad boy myself. Serious ladles of butter were poured in each dish to dip the lobster chunks in. Rich decadent goodness The messy fingers were just part of the fun. Finally the dessert arrives. Alas I had no room for this northeastern treat. Fluffy Boston Cream Pie, I sampled one bite and that baby came home and became breakfast Great applause to Chef Estee and his crew for an incredible feast. Look forward to the next one.

Tried this restaurant this afternoon for lunch, it was just OK. had the pulled pork sandwich with 2 salads, pasta and ceaser salad. The salads were very good. My husband had the meatloaf sandwich, it was OK. The service was very slow. The restaurant was very warm, with Hugh fans blowing air around. Can’t imagine how it would feel around 4:00 pm. They have groceries and bakery things, at a nice price tho. I’m afraid we well probably not return.

I think I’m pissing off the Unilocal computers… It’s yelling at me to do a review of Reno Provisions… «You’ve been there 5 times!!» Oh well then I’ll get RIGHT on that! lol Yes, I’ve been more than 5 times, but only checked in 5 times. I’ve stalled on doing this review because when I first tried it out, I knew it was going to have many changes and it wouldn’t stay what it was those first few times. Well, that and I am sort of being lazy. This last time we went in, was just before a Unilocal event down the street. Got a few things from the cafeteria style bar and a couple of coffees. It was all good. I could bag on the place for some of the things they do that I don’t like… AND I could praise them for this item or that item… and then it wouldn’t be there when you go in. I’m not gonna do either. So here is my review… if you are reading this to know if you should go there or not… Go. But also have a nearby place as a back up, because no matter how cool the place is, it’s still a very particular experience. I actually would just suggest heading down there for happy hour to try the place out and look around. PS Get the Negroni on Tap… it’s darn good.

Ah, grilled cheese. Such a humble little sammy. Yet when one adds artisan cheeses, freshly baked french bread, and a cup of delectable summer veggie soup, that grilled cheese becomes great. Such is the case at Reno Provisions. It’s a cafeteria… And a bar… And a boutique grocery store… All rolled into one! I don’t know how else to describe this place, except it’s just plain delicious. Oh, and try the Loch Almond if you’re in a boozy mood. You won’t regret it!

Reno Provisions has it all. There’s a bar. A cafeteria type restaurant. A butcher, a baker(sorry no candle stick maker) Also gourmet cheese and other food products. The bar and food are reasonably priced and the food is good. Take out food items a little on the pricey side. But the atmosphere is casual and comfortable, and a nice place to relax and spend a couple of hour having a snack, a meal or a drink. .

Well… That was a letdown. After all the great reviews, my expectations were high. I almost feel like I am being a terrible person by not being impressed. Like, I want to apologize. I’m sorry I didn’t like it. Don’t be mad at me. I’m still cool. We’ve been in to just shop before but this time we decided to get sandwiches to go. Walked up to the«start here» sign(necessary because otherwise I would’ve had no clue where to go). Immediately the guy behind the counter asked if we had any questions. Not yet, I’ve read about two words of the menu, but thanks, will let you know. He got busy doing stuff and then when we WERE ready to order, there was no one there to help. So we walked over to the register(mind you, no other customers were in the area) and the lady at the register pointed to the start here sign. That we had just been standing at. Oooook, back we went, but this time ale one did come out to help us. I don’t know, it just seems really… Random, how things work there. Ok, so let’s go with some pros: the place looks really, really cool. I love the flooring and the décor. The ‘provisions’ section is growing and growing and has some really beat looking stuff. The bakery case looked AMAZING and I regret not getting myself a pastry. Now… Cons. :( Husband got some sandwich with Italian meats in it I think, and fruit and pasta salad. I got the porchetta sandwich with Caesar salad and pasta salad. I was extremely underwhelmed by my sandwich. So much so that I ate approximately one quarter of it and threw the rest out. It was so, so bland. The meat was very moist and tender, but it was also greasy and tasted like absolutely nothing at all. There were some greens on the sandwich so it basically tasted like oily arugula. The bread was good though. But some salt and pepper would have done wonders. And the Caesar salad was bland too. What?! I was so let down. The pasta salad was pretty good, I ate all of that. Husband’s sandwich was pretty good. Nice flavor, yummy tangy pepper relish spread, tasty meats. He said the fruit wasn’t very sweet and he did not care for the pasta salad. I will go back to try the baked goods. I will go back for the grocery side. But the restaurant? Not so excited about that. If I were just rating today’s lunch, it’d be one star. But the grocery stuff in there is pretty solid, so.

This place is unreal. Before coming here I had no idea what to expect. I kept hearing talk of a cafeteria, bar, cool kitchen tour, pastries, gelato etc. etc. and RP definitely lives up to all of these promises and more. The choices that you are presented with when you walk in here are unending. The service was incredible and the choices were endless. The day we were there it was nice and sunny and warm so it was open and airy. The location is perfect and it was fun to check it out after having lunch at Campo with my friend. I love that I can come down here and buy items that are served at Campo as well as other local faves like Dorinda’s Chocolates and a few other places. They offer classes too. There are a few I want to check out in the next couple of months. Check this place out. You will not be disappointed.

I like the urban industrialish feel to this place. I love the concept, such as having a cafeteria style setup, yet having delicious food from various Reno owned restaurants. There was a lot of hype when it first opened. You can’t beat 6 dollars for breakfast, which includes all your heart desires on one tray. It is not just a cafeteria where you can come and eat. They also have easy to fix meals at home, a delicatessen, a bar, and a coffeeshop all in one. They have delicious looking pastries in their cases. I can’t wait to see how this establishment expands over time. I also came for a food demonstration. Kaia Fit was doing a healthy fit demonstration one Saturday morning in January. It is nice to see that they are expanding this place already. I personally love to cook and gained a few good tips.

Innovative, sleek, exciting, new, friendly, urban, chic, classic and casual. These are just of the few adjectives that jump to mind in describing Reno Provisions, the newest addition to the downtown food scene. Reno Provisions does not easily fit into any one category but fills many little niches which were lacking in the neighborhood. As you walk in the front door, you are greeted by a beautiful open space with cool urban black and white tiled floor with wooden tables and chairs which evokes a French pâtisserie. The large windows, left over from the storefront of the former JC Penney’s, let in light. Along the back wall is a full bar which resembles the heavy oak altars to alcohol of the American West. A long hallway houses the«cafeteria» portion of Reno Provisions. Do not think that this in way way resembles an institutionalized school cafeteria. This is a deli type self-serve dining with large glass cases and friendly young staff to assist you. Pastries, hot food items, fresh salads, fruit and breads are available served either individually or as a full meal. The food is served on a cafeteria style metal tray and you pick and choose the items from the display case. All the prepared food is available to eat here or for take-out. The grocery section wraps around from the Deli area towards the back. Here there is top quality meat, fresh bread, pasta, sauces, fruit and in the very back are dried pastas, some t-shirts, soaps and other miscellanious locally made food and personal items. There is also an espresso/coffee bar. We have been there for the opening(a packed mad-house), to buy meat for dinner(high quality and delicious), and for breakfast(I may never eat at home again). A fun place with high quality products served in a comfortable, modern setting, with friendly staff.
