Ate at pretty much every restaraunt in the Peppermill and thought this was the best of them, albiet the most expensive. Our dinner was $ 163 for two consisting of the popcorn shrimp app, ribeye, the petit filet, side of mushoom, side of potato, and a bottle of wine. All of the food was excellent. Décor was less guady as the rest of the hotel, service was the most professional. If you’re going to be staying in the hotel and plan on eating in at least one restaurant, I’d pick this one for you, my dear friend.

The prawn appetizers were great steak fabulous .One thing I didn’t like was paying good money for a steak and being told I have to pick only one of the four dipping sauces, which was corrected I got three But really the steak did not need them.

The last time I came here a man had a heart attack. That’s the last thing I remember! Anyway that is in no way, shape, or form a review of their food. I have dined here on several occasions and I always leave with a full stomach and a big smile. The prime rib is excellent and definitely what I come here for. I haven’t been around lately but it would be nice to see how they’ve kept things up(or maybe down? idk you tell me!)

Ambience was so so as it shares space with seafood restaurant/sushi bar. Given that, would feel comfortable bringing kids here than to other notable steakhouse in Reno(Harrahs). Food was fantastic and prepared tableside, memorable experience and would return.

Unlike other reviewers, I didn’t find the Steak House to be expensive. Four entrees only totaled $ 150! That’s what I usually spend on a party of two in Cali. The regular prime rib and smoked grilled salmon were good but the sides didn’t do anything for me. Is it possible that the mashed potatoes were out of a box? I also wasn’t too thrilled with the Blackened Prime Rib because the Whiskey Butter Shrimp was a little too strange and the sauce drenched my prime rib. This was the first nice restaurant my boyfriend’s niece had even been to and upon tasting the shiitake mushrooms that were piled on the salmon she exclaimed, «It’s like an explosion in my mouth!» Even though the décor is over the top, I will probably be visiting again.

I’m in Nevada a lot. I like to party here, cuz nobody tells me to go home at 2 am(cough, cough, California), and my recreational hobbies(golf and skiing) are to be had here throughout the year. Though I visit casinos regularly, I hardly ever eat at one. It’s just too packaged and predictable for me. On my last visit here, we tried this Steakhouse @ the Peppermill Casino, mostly b/c it was Christmas Eve and I was certain that most independent restaurants would’ve been closed. The look of the place is garish and gaudy and even though the rest of the casino shares the same motif, I just didn’t want that in a «steak house». The food is good, but like Joe M. already stated, the prices are high for what you get. For example, I got the veal chop $ 32 which was a nice, thick, juicy cut with an ok baked potato and very average mixed vegetables. Outside of the beautiful bone-in chop, the rest of the plate could’ve been from Denny’s. If staying here and you don’t want to leave the casino, then this may not be so bad, but for me, given an option, I’d opt out. I know I can find better food and perhaps for less money, but during holiday hours, it wasn’t going to happen.

Summary: Service was good. food was average. Prices are too high for the food quality. It was okay here. The neon decoration kinda of made me dizzy but I got used to it. We had a large group of 4 families and the servers were accomodating in allowing us to break up the bill into 4 families. Service was fine and the busboy was very nice and entertained the children a bit. My wife’s seafood salad was full of shrimp and crab and tasted pretty good. My rib eye was cooked as ordered but the outside was a little too crunchy/blackened. It was a mistake to bring kids here though especially with the high prices. Should’ve known better. The casino has a nice sportsbook area though.

Amazingly, the food in the«Steak House» was actually better than the«White Orchid». The Carpaccio of WAGYU Kobe Beef was absolutely delightful. The Napa Valley Escargot was tasty with the butter garlic sauce. The Lobster Bisque was just a tag on the lukewarm side, it will taste better if it is steaming hot. The Almond crusted Jumbo Lump Crabcake was filled with lumps and lumps of crab meat. The dinner was paired with a bottle of Groth 1999 Carbernet Sauvignon. Other than the the service being a bit slow, overall it was a very enjoyable dinner!
