The best sweet and sour chicken i have ever had! The ambience was really nice and the food is great! You cannot go wrong with anything you order here.

My review is not based on how the food is but to AWARE people of a scam we had at this restaurant. We paid our bill $ 46.86 with card and left a $ 20 as tip, we wrote on the receipt«cash» on tip, and as we walked out our waiter«Grace» server 13607 told us we didn’t signed our receipt nor left a tip, we told her it must have felt and walk back and there was nothing on the floor, our table or in her cashier room«according to her». She made us sign a another copy and emphasize on leaving another tip, we were so confused that signed it again and left another tip, so this person kept the first receipt where it said«cash» made it look as if we didn’t sign it nor tip her, How come neither of those where found?! Both«disappeared«??? She managed to get a double tip!!! One that only she knows took initially and a second one we gave! Very disappointing… Make sure you pay with card!!! Or ensure you see server count your money!

Here’s what I love about Chi: the 20% locals’ discount. I kid, I kid… but only kind of. The cool thing about Chi is that you can get a full-on fine dining experience at a chain restaurant price. The atmosphere here is nothing short of LUSH. Every part of the dining room is richly decorated, incredibly comfortable, and the last time we ate there I even had to take a moment to appreciate how artful the lighting design is! I have a particular weakness for big, circular booths, and Chi is filled with them. The one thing that can really hinder your enjoyment of the ambiance is that there are slot machines right up to the doors and no barriers to block the noise or smoke, so ask for a table in the back so that you can get some distance from that. While we don’t have experience with a lot of the menu, what we have ordered has all been incredible. The Honey Walnut Shrimp is outstanding, though very, very rich. I’ve had both the Egg Flower and Hot and Sour soups, and they are both very well made. Husband has had both of their duck dishes(his favorite food), and he has been happy both times. The Calamari in Spicy Salt is addictively wonderful! The cocktails are really lovely as well – I am a fan of the Asian Mule – but they are pricey and the discount does not apply to alcohol, so you can really run up the bill there if you’re not careful. The servers at Chi are very good at their jobs. We haven’t had anything but a top-quality experience both times we have been to this restaurant, which was for our last anniversary dinner as well as our Christmas Eve dinner, so our expectations were pretty high! It really just is a wonderful place if you want to feel fancy but don’t want to drop a ton of cash.

I give this place 1 star only because it has a nice ambiance to the place but the food absolutely sucks! Locally we have so many great options for Asian Cusine but we decided to try this out just for the heck of it… but sadly we regretted going. The potstickers were in egg roll wrappers and tasted bad. When asked to make the food spicy and omit certain things in our dish no one even bothered to comply to that. Staff was prompt with drinks and getting us seated but don’t care how you get your food and given the food sucks, take your money and appetite else where. You don’t want to leave hungry and disappointed.

I expected this place to be able to put out a decent meal as it is upscale, pricy Chinese food. That was not to be the case. They went 0 for 3 on my lunch experience. BBQ sweet and sour ribs were fatty. Tempura prawns very greasy and the Combo fried rice greasy and mushy. Developed a big stomach ache soon after those greasy prawns and rice. Ruined my night. Have had bettertasting food at Panda Express. And I didn’t get sick. No recommendation here as I will not be going back.

As I arrived I was seated right away… My server brought my drinks very quickly food arrived shortly after The shrimp fried rice had huge pieces of shrimp in it, very good. The sweet n sour chicken wasn’t bad my only criticism of that dish was that the pieces of chicken were very big, like 2 inches in diameter, so you kind of lose that crunchiness to it but the flavor of the sweet n sour sauce was really good

Good food, fast service, über friendly waitress. Reasonably priced. Had the $ 25 each dinner for two. Appetizers, meh. Ordered Mongolian beef and chicken with vegetables. Big portions and filled us both up to tilt level. Topped it off with their coffee gelato, also good. Overall a satisfying meal. Very comfortable seating in a pleasant atmosphere.

Nice dinner. Had the Chi dinner at 25.00 each. Started with appetizers that were good and for dinner each person(5 of us) selected entrée. We had general chicken, lemon chicken, pepper prawns, beef broccoli and Kung pao chicken. We also ordered side of mixed veggies, which wasn’t needed because we had plenty of food. Also included white or brown rice and gelato dessert with almond cookie. Service was great and they even brought out custard dessert with candle for birthday. I would say overall good meal maybe a little over priced but with a couple people I’d order individually.

We ordered take out from Chi for a late night dinner. Which by the way, we were not sure you could even do, but you can order it from the bar! Nice to know for sure! We ordered asparagus beef, cashew chicken, pork fried rice, generals chicken, and chicken chow meinl Unfortunately when my dad got back to the house, they forgot to add the generals chicken and it was too late to go back and get it, especially since our food would have been cold by then. My dad made a call to Chi and they were awesome! The apologized and offered for our next purchase to be comped! Way to own up Chi, this is a lot of why I wanted to give them a 5! I truly appreciate a place that can own up to their mistakes and make it right. Besides that little hiccup, the food was super! The cashew chicken was stellar! There was a variety of veggies and a good amount of cashews included with the chicken. The flavor was perfect. The pork fried rice is just awesome. I am astonished at the amount of quality pork they include in the rice. The asparagus beef and chow mein was just a delicious as everything else. Oh, before I wrap this up I should mention that it even tastes great reheated in the pan the next day! ;)

I love the Peppermill and have been coming here for 15 years. The ambience is lovely. This chinese restraunt though in my opinion is not good at all. So bad that my friend actually asked to speak to the manager. The Generals Chicken had such a bad flavor and the pieces of chicken were HUGE! Some were twice as big as a golf ball, and im not exagerating. The Fried Rice was bland and so was the Mongolian Beef. I love chinese but felt this just was not good chinese food.

My boyfriend and I frequent the Peppermill often and we have never ate here before until last night. We ordered the Honey walnut shrimp, lemon chicken and pad Thai. The pad Thai was ok nothing special. The lemon chicken was juice and I loved how they didn’t skimp out of the lemon glaze it was great. Now, if you live shrimp like I do the Honey walnut shrimp is a must! The shrimp are HUGE coated with a sort of crispy tempura lathered up with the honey glaze. To my surprise the plate also had small honey dew and cantaloupe pieces THEYWEREDELICIOUS. The combination sounds odd but it was sooooo good. Our waitress Grace was a gem! So pleasant and spunky. I can’t believe this was our first time, we are absolutely coming back.

Racist waitress, wasn’t cognizant to any questions and took her own sweet time to come back with any questions. Kept asking me have you never been to a Chinese place. I like to try out places and like to make sure that I try the best dish available. But such behaviour is not acceptable. Wish I could give zero stars, I literally walked out of this place!

We were given a Chinese New Year’s voucher from Peppermill to eat here so we had to check it out :) Located in the center of the casino, Chi itself is beautiful from the large crystal dragon at the reception desk to the dark interior and LED back lighting inside, this place screamed upscale Chinese. When we checked in our hostess couldn’t find my reservation as they had written them down on index cards and placed them on their counter. She then checked the computer and found our reservation and made a remark to herself that sometimes«late» reservations aren’t put on the counter. Wrong thing to say to me, since I made my reservation well over a month ago! We had $ 75 to spend so we ordered the Chi dinner at $ 25 pp The Chi dinner included appetizers, two entrees, white or brown rice and gelato for desert. We added an order of honey walnut prawns for another $ 19 as well. The appetizers consisted of spring rolls(2), salt and pepper chicken wings(4) and crab cheese wonton(2). Only the crab cheese wonton were worthy of commenting on they were crispy with a good blend of cream cheese and real crab. Entrees: Mongolian Beef: At first the sauce on the beef seemed a little overpowering but when it was eaten in combination with rice it was actually quite good. There was a good portion of tender beef, onions and crispy rice vermicelli. Szechuan Spicy Shrimp: Large prawns with snow peas served in a NOT spicy at all sauce-Blah. Honey Walnut Prawns: Large prawns deep fried served with candied walnuts and honeydew melon cubes all blended together in a sweet mayo sauce. This was the best entrée. House Gelato: Coconut was very mild in flavor. Mango was POW full of mouth puckering flavor LOL. I think the chef was drunk when they made the mango gelato as it was super strong in flavor. Overall this is a really nice place, but if you want good food to go along with the pretty décor and high prices go somewhere else.

This restaurant have its good dish and bad dish. Nobody’s perfect. NOTE: I lean towards Chinese dish that can’t be found at Panda Express. I believe that if you come to this restaurant, you have to try something other than your ordinary Chinese dish. This review is based on: Time of visit: weekend 5 – 6 P.M. no reservation needed. Non holiday weekend. A party of five. This restaurant is not that busy around that time frame. Service is always great. This restaurant can get expensive real fast depending on the dish you order. Environment: Very well decorated like an upscale restaurant. Locate inside the Peppermill casino/hotel. As a result, depending on where you sit, you might smell a cigarette smoke inside the dining area. Now, onto the food. Note: These dish/soup mention below, i personally would give 5 star on. Appetizer: «Deep Fried Calamari in Spicy Salt.» If you love spicy salt and pepper type dish, this will not disappoint you. Lightly battered in spicy salt mix with chop up bell pepper laying at the bottom of the dish. It’s truly a delicious starter. The calamari is not chewy at all. It’s very tender. Soup: «Fish Maw with Crabmeat Soup.» Fish maw is technically a fish bladder. It doesn’t taste fishy nor raw. It also combined with a fair amount of crabmeat. Adding a little bit of black pepper and soy sauce, this soup is outstanding. Main dish: 1. «Lobster in salt and pepper.» Note:(Market price) so this dish by itself can shot up to as much as $ 56 depending on the size of the lobster. Like i mention above, if you’re a big fan of salt and pepper dish, this is a must. Beside the price tag, this dish is not for the faint of heart because they don’t use a frozen lobster, it’s cooked from live lobster. How they kill the lobster prior to cooking i have no idea. Again, lightly battered in spicy salt n pepper mix with chop up bell pepper laying at the bottom of the dish. Very fresh. The meat is sweet and tender with a taste of salt n pepper around the outside. To me, it’s the best i’ve ever come across. Now, onto a 4 star dish: 1. Steam whole fish: Take longer cook than other dish. It’s very outstanding. Fresh fish, perfect aroma of the ingredient without overpowering the fish meat. 2. Peking Duck: Not the best, but not too bad. 3. Fish Fillet with Spicy Pepper Salt: If you haven’t already had enough salt and pepper dish. hehe. Now onto a not so good dish: 1. Seafood chowfun: Way too much noodle stir fry sauce is not evenly distributed around the noodle. Certain part of the noodle still stuck together thick making it tasteless. Overall: One of the best upscale Chinese restaurant you can find in Reno, NV. My review is based on the dish i order. I don’t dare comment on the dish i haven’t try.
