Oh man, it’s a huge, huge shame that a mom/pop business like this with some really nice, unique food offerings(including lovely made-from scratch Burmese dishes) is now closed, while chains or places offering run-of-the-mill, unremarkable food manage to stay open somehow. Unfortunately the City of Redwood City doesn’t make it easy for small businesses to succeed, unless it’s one of the ones situated right across from Courthouse Square. Here’s to hoping Cassandra can reopen Broadway Barista in another form some day!

These folks are so, so nice. Place is super clean and hospitable. Coffee is top notch; they know what a «long espresso» is, as compared to the chains. I forgot my wallet once, and they offered honor credit: made MY day!

Came by this morning to try it out… saw reviews were good. It was closed… there was a city notice of «irresponsibility» on the door! No bueno! Oh, well, on to the next coffee shop!

When I first walked in, the corned beef sandwich is the first thing that caught my eye. Three months later, I have STILLYET to actually order this because they are ALWAYS out of the corned beef. WHY? WHYYYY? The owner says she only has enough corned beef for five sandwiches a week and when it’s gone, it’s gone. I think it’s time to stock more than five… So instead, I got a pastrami sandwich on my first visit and was given two bread choices: wheat or sourdough. I chose wheat(that’s my usual bread choice) and regretted it. It tasted like cheap sandwich bread from Costco and it made my sandwich NOT worth the price I paid for. Learned my lesson and got sour dough bread from then on. The chicken salad and tuna salad sandwich are very good. It’s handmade so it’s fresh every time. Tried the chicken salad once and boy, the portions are huge! I was stuffed two quarters of the way through… off of SALAD. Two pieces of toast comes with the salad and without even asking, there’s butter smothered all over it. I would’ve said no to the butter had they asked, but they didn’t. So be sure to let them know if ya don’t want it because they likely won’t ask. This is also the only place near my office that has boba /milk tea. The boba is pretty good. It’s not overly chewy and tastes fresh(not hardened from sitting out for a few hours). I’ve had several of their milk/tea based boba drinks and I’ve found it a bit inconsistent. Sometimes, it’s a bit too bland and sometimes it’s too sweet. But it’s «good enough» considering that they’re the only boba business around here. The jasmine tea fell off the menu for a while and is now replaced by lavendar tea — works for me(: As for the people who rave over their coffee… what? Do you like burnt-tasting coffee? I’ve had their iced coffee and latte maybe three times in total and all three were disappointing. The first one had burnt coffee bean bits sitting at the bottom of my cup. The other two just tasted burnt. I’m never getting coffee here again. All in all, awesome for boba. Decent for food. And meh for coffee. Which is why I’m giving this place three stars.

I came here while looking for some coffee after lunch. I ordered the café au lair and a blueberry scone. First, the good: the scone was very very good. Good crumble and perfect moisture content. The blueberries were fresh and had a nice flavor. Unfortunate, the coffee was flavorless. I have not written them off though. Next time I’ll definitely try a pure espresso so I can gauge if this is a blip or par for the course.

Cute little coffee shop downtown. Unfortunately they didn’t have egg salad even though it was on the menu… damn, was craving it. The cheese and tomato sandwich was good. The café frappé was also tasty. The staff was friendly too. The chairs were comfy. Only 3 stars though for being out of egg salad and being called«darling», «hon», and«babe» by the Barista several times. Pet peeve of mine… especially if the person is a lot younger than me. Haha. I would return though if they indeed had egg salad.

Atmosphere: small, cute, clean shop. Free wi-fi. Staff: Saw 1 or 2 behind the counter. Friendly. Drinks: Came here specifically to try the smoothies. Tried their banana colada. At first taste I actually did not like the taste. After I let it sit for a while and thin out it was okay, but not that great of a flavor. The flavors were more mild to bland, as I prefer more bold flavors. It also tasted«store bought», or rather, a smoothie made from a carton mix. That’s not necessarily a bad thing. But I do prefer smoothies are are fresh, made from real fruit and milk/ice cream carried in the store. Return factor: not in the near future, unless I feel like trying their coffee selections which seems to be the primary item for sale in this store. But for smoothies, I don’t think I would go back for them here.

Hands down, the best coffee shop in downtown Redwood City. Forgot nearby Starbucks or Peet’s with their crowds and cookie-cutter menus; this is the place to be! Great coffee, good service, comfortable chairs to sit in, and free wi-fi. I will be coming here often!

Teaf Leaf salads here are pretty good. Boba is decent, and could be better. The décor is very homely here, though this type of setting makes me not want to stay for a very long time. Owner is friendly and adjusted my drink accordingly. by adding some water. Eh. Iono man.

Cute place, I went in there with the intention of getting coffee and doing some work on my computer… this isn’t really the place for that. While I only had a lattee and a pastry(both very good!) the menu looked great and I’ll have to make my way in here for something a little more filling. Service was decent, order and pick-up at register. Décor is simple, homey. Seating isn’t very comfortable, but like I said, isn’t not a place I would stay at for very long. Perfect for a short lunch.

Nice Café. Pleasant place to work before meeting friends nearby. Took a long time to get served and the barista had a hard time figuring out the WiFi password so not the best in that regard. But I still had a pleasant enough experience so 3 starts it is.

Came here to get some work done and it is a nice little place in Redwood city. They serve boba, which was what I was craving so it was all good. The boba was okay. The drink was a little too sweet for my tastes and the boba was a little tough, but it was drinkable. I got to hang out and plug my computer in and get some work done, which was the whole point. The also have free wifi, which is a plus! Didn’t try any food, but if I were in the area again looking for a place to hang, I’d come back!

I was scouting out a coffee shop in downtown Redwood City to spend a leisurely afternoon. Broadway Barista turned out to be an awesome pick! With al fresco seating along Broadway on a beautiful, sunny afternoon, it was the perfect place to sip a coffee while reading a book and people-watching. The owners are very friendly, the coffee very good, and a variety of sandwiches and pastries offered. P. S. Free wi-fi is always a plus! :)

Ordered a single shot straight up, along with some kind of apricot oatjack to avoid the ccard fee… they serve lots of Asian treats, including few Burmese dishes, along with boba. Accompaniments to coffee plentiful in the display cases. What we found when the hunt for Peets was a fail.

Cassandra is an amazing café owner who actually cares about her customers, even when they’re not regulars. The place is clean, classy and has a good selection of pastries, salads and drinks. My favorites are the espresso, croissant with ham/egg/tomato/cheese, chicken salad salad and the amazing tropical sunrise smoothie.

One of the more satisfying jasmine green tea with tapioca I’ve had in a long time. I remember that this place has been many a café and smoothie joint. Not sure what they’re doing different now but the the original tea is solid. Color me surprised. 4.25 stars

Super friendly employees. Nicely decorated and great ambiance. It’s a great place to meet up with friends or to spend an afternoon working. The Boba was not spectacular, and it was overpriced. Parking can be tough. If you’re planning to work here for awhile, get here before noon to park and find a spot.

I went here for the first time today and I HIGHLY recommend it. I was just planning on getting coffee, but I was hungry, and it *was* lunchtime after all, so I got the chicken salad salad. The dressing on it was the best dressing I have ever had. It was chinese chicken salad dressing, but it was thick and delicious. The chicken salad part had cranberries and almonds. It was heavenly. I think I ate it in about 5 seconds. I wanted another one, but I refrained. My co worker/friend went with me, and saw me devouring it, and I am not sure she wants to eat with me again. ha ha. The place is really cute. Nice décor, fresh sunflowers, they have a lot of tasty looking pastries, and spanikopita, hard boiled eggs, and other various snacks. They also serve sandwiches, coffee drinks, and have a large selection of bubble tea. Great addition to the Broadway food scene. I will definitely be back. Yum, yum, yum!!!

B. wanted coffee so he went here. He got a small drip coffee $ 1.50. He said it was fine. Got it in a to-go cup that had a red lock on the top of it. I got tap water. Cup had a slight red mark — suspicious, but I still used it. If you use credit card they charge you .50 if under $ 5.
