A very tranquil cute spot to grab lunch. I meet the owner and very nice to see him greet the guest. I got the Douglas sandwhich. Very very very good. Flavor from the sauce and bread was fresh. Chicken was not dry. My wife got the meatball sandwhich. That also was fresh and good. We got an order of some doughnut dish with strawberry jam as a appetizer. Sorry don’t know the name of it. Jam was not sweet at all which is a good thing. The doughnut is very fluffy. I would definitely go back again. I love the décor of the place. The bricks gives it a nice ambience. My only negative is the French press coffee. I wish the water temp was a bit hotter. Would definitely recommend this place.

If you miss Scandinavian food, or want to try it, you’ve got to come to the Danish Café. Delicious authentic snacks and dishes, great coffee and tea, friendly staff, all in an airy, beautiful venue. My family lives almost an hour away and we still make excuses to come to the café often!

Good food but WAY overpriced.3 dollars for a 6oz cup of black coffee.13 for a small piece of bread, one slice of meat, a tablespoon of jam, and a slice of cheese. It’s a shame because the food and atmosphere is nice but price is way too steep for a coffee and breakfast place.

Having lived in the Red Bank area for thirty years, I have sampled most of the culinary offerings in town. The Danish Café is my favorite, for several reasons, the first of which is the food. From amazingly light and delicious Danish pastries to delectable and healthy sandwiches, this eatery offers something for almost anyone’s palate. The staff is friendly and caring, and their pleasant attitude enhances the dining experience.(When Hurricane Sandy devastated the area in 2012, the owners opened the Danish Café soon after the storm hit and offered free coffee, charging stations, and wifi access to all.) Finally, parking in the area is relatively easy, since the café is situated in the Galleria, which has both on-street and in-lot spaces available. For those interested in traditional Scandinavian meals, the owners host special dinners seasonally, and they post the dates and the menus online, both on their website and on Facebook. I know that I will continue to frequent this gem of a restaurant, and I look forward to enjoying both the food and the owners’ hospitality often.

Really nice little place in the heart of the Galleria. Had a hazelnut coffee and crossiant with ham egg and cheese. It made for a nice little family breakfast.

Just found this place inside the Galleria, and I’m so glad I did! The coffee is good, the food is great, and the staff is awesome. I’ve already made a return trip! Free wifi, free parking, if you can get a spot out back, and a nice, relaxing atmosphere make it a great place to set up and get some work done, or just have lunch with a friend. The sandwiches are really good, and the pastries are magnificent.

*It’s very hard to find a DANISH restaurant in NYC yet alone in New Jersey. The Danish Café is a rare sight for sore eyes. Ranging from authentic Danish smorrebrod, ableskiver, hapsdogs, & a real Danish bakery serving real danish(cheese is my favorite) this place has it all without flying the 3800+ miles. You really couldn’t ask for a better staff either. If you’re looking for an authentic Danish meal experience or just up for trying something new this is the place! What’s even better is that it’s BYOB! 5 stars ~ And just as the years we’ve been coming back here; We shall enjoy coming for many many more. SKAL!

We have catered from here as well as dined in. Super-authentic smørrebrød(open-face sandwiches) and great Danish pastry which is really hard to find in this quality in U.S. Will definitely be back. And back. And back.

I had the Roasted Pork with«Rødkål»(Red cabbage) and the Egg & Herring open face sandwiches, both which were outstanding. We also ordered a Cappuccino and a Café Latte which were expertly prepared. What makes it an extra special experience are the wonderful owners who make you feel so welcome.

Great place. Fantastic fresh food. Cute Décor. I have family from Norway so it makes me especially happy!!! We go there for lunch on a regular basis. The staff is warm and accommodating. A lot if people go there as a coffee shop, setting up their laptop and relaxing over pastries. Great atmosphere.

Went here for lunch on a sunday with a party of 5. The food is light, tastey and inexpensive. Each of us ordered one of several of their specialty open face sandwiches, we had the roast beef and ham. Now an open-face sandwich sounds plain but they had unique spreads, pickled vegetables and grainy bread. We also shared a cheese plate which came with brie, cream-cheese(not the philadelphia kind, milder in flavor, nice), some hard cheese that had what I think was salt crystals bedded in it, crackers, bread, and grapes. This is a small dish but rich in flavor, ideal snack. Their coffee bar selection is simple but has some tastey items like the white mocha café. As for environment, its very clean and spacious and you get this slightly chill down to earth feel from the colors/decoration. Most of the tables sit 4 but some leave space for an extra chair to be pulled up, so this place isnt good for large groups. I recommend this place for a brunch, a place to study(free wifi) or casual date.

This place was amazing! I only wish we had a place like this in Houston. My one and only complaint is that this place is hard to find. It is actually in a «market-like» area and hidden among others. Now as far as the food, my husband and I, as always ordered a lot of food. Here are the most memorable: –the Herring and Lox plate: OMG, how healthy, yet super tasty. The herring was made 3 different ways, yet each was phenomenal. The first seemed like it was mustard-based, the second was pickled, and the third was vinegar-based. The lox was super tasty and balanced well with the danish bread. –the Danish Plate: another treasure! What was the pot of gold for me was the apricot jam with the Brie cheese! Put it over the Danish toast and you’re in for a delightful treat. –the raspberry and cheese Danish: both were just awesome. The pastries were so puffy and airy, yet flaky and buttery. The cheese Danish, in particular, was dusted with cinnamon which really made the difference above other cheese Danishes. The place is a tad small, but well worth going to! Enjoy!

Quaint café, located in the farmers market, with plenty of seating and FREE wifi! My husband and I stopped here for brunch on our way out of town. I totally enjoyed one of their famous Danish open faced sandwiches on Rye bread ~ Eggs and tomatoes with mayo and chives. It wasn’t oozing with mayo which was a good thing! I actually felt like I was eating something healthy! My husband ordered the«make your own salad» topped with grilled chicken and the house dressing all stuffed inside their homemade pita bread. He wasn’t as impressed as I was and left most of it on the plate. He did enjoy the order of aebleskiver(pancake balls sprinkled with powdered sugar served with jam). The price is right for a quick brunch or bite on the run for sure!

Coffee is good and strong, a European roast. The atmosphere is great, the converted Eisner factory with original wood floors and windows, and the egg sandwich was super tasty, cooked in an oven, as it was explained to me. Plus refills are included. Worth stopping in and experiencing.

Ambiance: very spacious, seats are kinda stiff, good table space for working. Free wifi! Food: slightly larger than actual European portions but not by much. Danishes were made in house and are amazing. Favorites are pecan, cheese and cinnamon. Not too sweet or too buttery. Loks and Danish plate breakfasts also good. Service: has a family run vibe to it and the owners were behind the counter taking orders and will give you recommendations upon request. Lovely people. Definitely coming back to study/brunch. Bön apetit!
