I like their sushi rice. It is obvious that they have Japanese sushi man to take core of sushi rice. No matter how much all ingredients are fresh and tasty, if sushi rice was not good it would destroy everything. One nice Asian chef always tells me if they have Uni since I am a big fan of Sea Urchin. I usually make take out order and the timing is always punctual…

This is my favorite sushi place in the greater Fort Lauderdale area. My fiancé and I eat here once a week or so and we randomly found it through other people’s recommendations. The dirty roll(or Dirty dragon) is a must get! It is unique and delicious. We have gotten many different rolls here and our second favorite would probably be the green giant. Also, the service is great. Our favorite waitress just left, but it is a small restaurant and we have already made new friends with the rest of the crew. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for good, unique sushi

I understand that this isn’t a high end sushi restaurant but I’m not sure why it gets such high reviews. I’ve eaten here three times and the salmon sushi tasted different each time. The nigiri has been very fishy which is a major turnoff for me. There are only two other sushi options in the immediate vicinity and I believe both(9 Face/Yakuza) are just average but still better than Take.

Decent sushi and sake, nice spot that seemed to do good business for a weeknight. To be honest I wasn’t crazy about the roll I tried and I’d like to sample more of their menu. However the food was fresh so no complaints. Would definitely come back!

The rolls had too much rice. Waited about 45 minutes for take out. Asked for extra soy sauce and didn’t get it. I wasn’t impressed with the spicy tuna roll, which had a lot of rice and a small amount of tuna. It was missing the spicy aspect so it was just a tuna roll. The soft shell crab and shrimp tempura were alright. Overall not impressed and wouldn’t return.

Small, cozy place. Fresh food and well presented to the table. Big menu and wide variety. Look like a whole in the wall kind of place but highly recommend.

From the outside one would expect the standard 10 tables situated around a stale dark and empty room, but don’t let the exterior fool you, this s a perfect sushi hit. Once you open doors you are taken into a cozy and warm environment with great electronic music, an incredible salt water tank and great staff a perfect ambience for lunch or dinner. Beyond that the food was exceptional, and of high quality.

I had a tasty sashimi appetizer. Fresh fish, nice size portion, beautiful presentation. Big fish tank with colorful fishes. Place isn’t very big but intimate and lovely. This place is close to my work and I can’t wait to come back and try their lunch menu. 5 stars from me… nice gem in Pompano.

I love this place, the food has always been excellent in my opinion. It is just a little over priced but I will defiantly continue to dine here. There is one down side, they do not deliver lunch. I believe they would have a ton more business if they decided to deliver during lunch hours.

This is nice small intimate place with very friendly and attentive staff. We were given a sample of noodles to open the palate. Our appetizers were miso sea bas, grilled to perfection, and the super delicious steamed gyoza. For the main course we had the Batman and Double Dragon rolls.

Take Sushi is a near perfect little nitchy strip mall hole in wall restaurant. It’s comfortable small, cozy, well appoint, has a beautiful little pleasant to the eyes fish tank aquarium, really great food served up in delightfully appearing presentation and a top notch friendly professional wait staff. There are several kind of quirky things about it. First off, the table setting is with chopsticks only, rather oddly Chinese, not Japanese chopsticks, so if you’re like me or like the inept fat lady that sat near me who ended up slobbering food and juices all over herself, her table top and the floor, you’ll have to ask for flatware. And, at the end of your meal you’ll get a Chinese fortune cookie, even though this restaurant is clearly Japanese, not Chinese. When seated I was first presented with a complimentary bowl of noodles in broth. It didn’t look like much, but the taste was totally delicious. The menu is large with all sorts of rolls and selections of varying fish. There is also a board of specials which is well worth a read and little note board tablets listing any new, not on the menu or daily specials board items. The one for the particular night I was there was for fired oysters, an item not found in most sushi places or area Japanese restaurants. I started off ordering the baby octopus salad which came with plenty of baby octopus, a leaf of greens, and shredded carrot. The octopus had a delightful firm texture and the sauce tasty; a perfect enhancement and compliment to the overall dish. I followed that with their«Red Dragon» roll which roll had a center core of yellowfin(ahi) tuna surrounded by a sticky rice, topped off with slices off with more bright red to the eye fresh sushi grade tuna. As rolls go, and I’m not usually one who orders rolls, it was one of best, properly prepared and presented on a special specifically made for rolls plate. Though the area has a lot of really good Japanese or sushi restaurants, because of the cozy ambiance and top notch service… waitresses who actually know how to properly count change… this happens to be one of my favorites. The place also affords, probably because so many of nearby businesses have closed or failed, plenty of space for parking, with spaces adequate enough that you don’t need to worry about the sides of your car getting banged in by somebody else swing their doors open.

The sushi was great, I came back twice while I was in town. The rolls are also affordable and tastes good for the prices that they are. I ordered the rainbow, Mexican, sashimi appetizer, and JB roll.

If you’ve read my previous review for this restaurant you know I rave about this little place. It’s been my favorite for going on the better part of 20 years. I try new places occasionally and enjoy almost all of them, but this little place still ranks at the top for me! Maybe it’s my comfort in the casual family atmosphere or maybe it’s because I’ve eaten here so long that their preparation of the standards(i.e. JB Roll, Tuna Roll, Rainbow Roll etc) are the norm or «right way» to me. I don’t know, but whatever it is, it keeps me coming back. Plus, as far as I know they’re the only place that makes a Jalapeño Roll. It’s my favorite, bar none and I order it every time we eat here. It’s nothing fancy but I highly recommend it. On the menu it’s described as a slice of Jalapeño Tempura, Cream Cheese, Scallion & White Fish. Simple right? But the simple ingredients make the perfect bite. The crispy, crunchy, warm & slightly spicy Jalapeño, the cold, creamy, smooth, Cream Cheese, the very slight onion bite from the scallion combined with the delicate, buttery, White Fish… is just sooo good, it should be illegal. Treated like the food porn it is! We request it prepared with Wahoo because it’s our personal favorite but if you have another white fish you prefer, ask if it’s available. If you don’t specify it’s made using the freshest, mildest, white fish available that day. Also, on the topic of making special requests, not only do they accommodate my requests for a particular fish, but there are certain rolls I like rolled with just rice. That’s to say rolled without Nori(Seaweed) or Soy paper. To date they’ve accommodated me with VERY few exceptions i.e. when I’ve ordered a roll that keeping it together with just rice would be almost an impossibility. But It’s these small things that not only prompt me to drop a little extra green in the Sushi Chef’s Tip Jar but let me know they appreciate my business and want me to keep coming back! Unfortunately, it appears to me that most restaurants and many businesses in general feel showing appreciation for your business is a thing of the past and no longer needed!

Hands down my favorite place for SUSHI! Greeted with«amuse bouche» of sesame noodles –one word delicious! Started with Miso soup then Ordered the usual rolls: Jalapeño roll(has a tempura jalapeño rolled with wahoo), JB roll, yellowtail and tuna scallion roll, wahoo tataki roll — YUM! If you have never tried Ponzu instead of Soy sauce you must(lighter with a hint of citrus). We Always have a pot of green tea! We didn’t have it tonight but the Wahoo Tataki(wahoo sashimi with a slice of raw jalapeño on top with citrus sauce) is to die for! Come and enjoy the freshest Sushi around!

Visited yesterday for the first time to celebrate an early Mothers day. I ordered the wahu tatake, calamari, sashimi, dirty dragon roll and oreo tempura with vanilla ice cream. The food tasted fresh and it definitely satisfied my taste buds. The only thing i wasnt fond of was the calamari appetizer. The dine — in area is fairly small which makes the restaurant setting more intimate. I will be back to eat more sushi. Not sure what the other Unilocalers are complaining about but the prices aren’t that steep.

Ahh, not the best sushi. Relied on the current positive reviews plus its around the corner. A)It Took 1 ½ hr to deliver two rolls and a miso soup. The miso soup alone was a 3 out of a 10. Sushi was a –1.

Food was simply OK. The fish was not as fresh as I would have liked. Fish portions were not big enough for me compared to other sushi restaurants. Nevertheless prices are fair. Oreo tempura dessert was out of the box and delicious. Rather try new restaurants than coming back.

So yesterday was supposedly«International Sushi Day». It’s not like I need an excuse to eat sushi, but this sure helped give me a little push. We had an event to attend in Pompano so we figured we’d drive up a little early and grab sushi in the area. Turning to my Unilocal app, I found Take Sushi. Take Sushi is a perfect hole in the wall sushi spot, which is my kind of sushi place. I use a simple side salad with ginger dressing as my benchmark as to whether a place is overpriced or not, and Take Sushi is appropriately priced at $ 1.95. If I lived in the area Take Sushi would easily become my go-to sushi spot as the customer service was quick and attentive, the food came out super fast(we were in and out in 30mins), prices were cheap, and food was fresh. Steven C. started with a miso soup, which was pretty standard but seemed to have a little bit more tofu than usual. I started with a baby octopus salad which was good but the sauce wasn’t quite right. We split a Green Giant Roll, Futomaki Roll and the Double Dragon Roll — which is half green dragon and half red dragon. The Double Dragon roll was probably my favorite and I liked that basically we got to try 4 different rolls here just by ordering 3. The Futomaki was comparable to my sushi spot and similar to other places in that the pieces were huge. The Green Giant Roll was good, but the«spinach crunch» wasn’t all I had hoped for. Turns out it’s just those crunchy flakes I’ve had on other rolls only dyed green. Still, good in taste and great in presentation but not quite as inventive as I was thinking. We hung out for a bit after paying the check as they had the World Cup game on. Two complaints — it was a bit cold inside, and the sushi pieces themselves had the tendency to fall apart once I picked them up. Nothing that would stop me from coming back, but definitely a tad annoying.
