Last night’s special of scallop, prawn, and mussel turmeric risotto left an amazing impression of flavor. We also got the very appetizing bruscetta platter to start off. There was only one table open when we arrived but that did not compromise the service whatsoever. Our kind waitresses Abbey was very hospitable and attentive to detail all around.

I have been here several times and have always had a great experience. Our last time we were here, we came on a Saturday evening. It was quite busy but got a seat up at the bar. Our waitress was attentive. The owner Peter was very friendly. We had the beet salad pappardelle pasta, and pork chop. All dishes were delicious. We look forward to coming back again

Love their romantic and relaxing vibe! Good for a date or group setting! FOOD: I tried the pesto verdura. I liked it’s portion size, which I was just enough to fill me up. It also had a good mixture of vegetables and carbs. I especially enjoyed tasting the zucchini strips. The pesto sauce was a bit too oily for my taste. SETTING: Very romantic and relaxing vibe. There are about 10 – 15 tables indoors and also a few outdoors. There’s also a screen projector that was playing Grease on a blank wall, which I thought was super cool. SERVICE: We came on a Saturday evening and waited 20 min to be seated, for a party of 4. Our food was ready in 10 – 15 min. The waitress was nice but seemed a little bit condescending. PRICE: Entrees were $ 12 – 17, which is reasonable for an Italian place. OVERALLIMPRESSION: I really like the ambiance of the place. The movie projector and wall lighting/décor totally made the experience worth it, despite the food being just average.

Wife and I had a good dinner here tonight. Sat at the bar, beet salad, papperdele pasta dish and pork chop entrée, all good. Wines BTG were fresh, and service was good. Peter was a gracious host. Looking forward to another visit!

Went there last Sunday for lunch on a date. After waiting for an hour for 2 of their salads with chicken on it, the waitress came and apologized that the other waitress took our salads! She never even offered us anything to compensate such horrible service. A free wine, free desert or a sincere apology would have been nice. If I wasn’t on a date, I would have made an issue out of it. NEVERGOINGBACK, and if you are in a hurry, forget it.

Went here last night, quickly seated, food came out very fast too. Try the bruchetta trio, so yummy! I got the spinach fig salad with grilled chicken added, it was very filling and fresh! My friend and i split the butternut squash risotto. It was yummy just very rich, definately too creamy for a meal for myself. I cant wait to come back!

Sugo is my go to favorite restaurant. It’s a great location downtown, the restaurant itself is cozy and has a good vibe, and it’s food is awesome! I have many favorites dishes: the pesto verdura(I get mine sans cream) is soooooo tasty with its ample veggies and flavorful pesto. Also, I could eat the spinach and fig salad everyday of the week. It’s a wealth of flavor. Another top notch item is the spicy sausage risotto. The bruschetta trio is always an excellent option as well. I love that you can tailor the choices. I’d select a Gorgonzola honey walnut and a classic. Another wonderful perk of Sugo– the five dollar wine specials every day. Can’t beat a five dollar La Crema chard or a five dollar Dry Creek zin. I’ve had not so friendly service one or two times, but that is a rarity. Sometimes there is a wait because it’s a small restaurant and is popular, but it’s worth the wait, in my opinion. I almost hate to give it such a high rating because I don’t want it be get busier, but that’d be selfish.

A friend told me about the Trattoria and I couldn’t wait to try it. The Trattoria plays movies on the wall and serves interesting combinations of favorite ingredients. There was a nice selection of wines from CA and international varietals. I treated myself to the eggplant/cheese ravioli. The raviolis had a funny taste too them and I wondered if it was spiked with something unsavory. The consistency within the ravioli was like mush. The sauce was nondescript and overwhelming in its volume. The dish was brought to me like a big bowl of sauce. The dish was interesting, not great or anything that I would write home about. The restaurant is nice inside and I would go again with friends to try it again. The portion sizes are plentiful but not delicate. It’s ok for local faire.

Came here a few months back. We walked in on an early Saturday night. We were seated pretty quickly for a 4 top. They do not take reservations as I had tried making one earlier in the week. We had a bit of discrepancy at first which I won’t go into detail about since they tried making it right by giving us a bottle of wine. Let’s just say the service was the absolute worse service I’ve experienced in Sonoma County. Thankfully they did make it right by us. We all loved our food and by the end thought the overall experience was okay. Since I really enjoyed my food I would give them another shot. Hoping to try it again in 2016. Hopefully their service has improved as well as making sure their wine list is stocked.

YUM! Slightly expensive, but worth it on occasion! $ 26 and I got an order of bruschetta and an angel hair marinara. I say slightly expensive because the portions weren’t worth $ 26. Slow, but really nice service! So delicious, garlic lovers will be in heaven! I’ll definitely be back :)

Note: This is not where we had planned to eat. Stopped in here after the other restaurant we had chosen to go to for a work lunch was closed. Very lovely spot. Reasonably comfortable. We were sat rather quickly, had our choice of tables when we came in(it got busier before we left, so we did end up seeing people hanging at the door waiting for diners to clear out. Our orders were taken in a reasonable amount of time. Then things started to slow down. The food took longer to arrive than what it seemed like it should. We were served bread right before our meals showed up, and, to be fair, the waitress apologized for not realizing we hadn’t received any yet. Further, the menu really doesn’t seem to have much in the way of choices. I opted for the Angus Burger because it seemed safe and simple, but I found that the Gorgonzola that they used on it(which appears on all their sandwiches it seems) really overpowered the taste of the burger. I couldn’t barely taste the caramelized onions and couldn’t taste the meat at all. The bun was also a little too«rustic» for my liking, and the entire thing, as well as a side of greens, was served on a wooden cutting board instead of a plate, which the burger dripped on(mostly). My two co-workers each had pasta and did seem to like their meals more. After we were finished, it was back to waiting. Our plates got cleared, we declined desert, but then had another eight minutes before we were approached once more about dessert and we said we were in a hurry and needed our check. Now again, this is as the place had filled up, but they appeared to have adequate wait staff for the amount of people being handled, so we’re not sure why it took so long to check out. I really don’t want to be too harsh to the place. The people who helped us were very nice. My burger may have been more to the liking of others. And if we hadn’t been in a hurry, maybe the time it took wouldn’t have mattered as much. As it is though, I just realize that, while it’s a nice spot, Sugo Trattoria just isn’t for me.

Petaluma has some good restaurants. This is especially useful if you were to, hypothetically speaking, drive up to Napa and get a little toasted on the region’s well known Cabernet, for instance, and want a place to chill before you head back to the city. So, hypothetically speaking, that’s how we ended up at Sugo Trattoria. I can’t speak to the wine selection, because I was drying out a bit. However, the food was perfect to soak up a day worth of wine tastings and power us back to the city. In fact, it was worth driving here over some of the other places I’ve tried in the Napa/Sonoma area. I’d go back again just to have it again.

Way better than expected! Even though Sugo is in a quasi-strip-mall location, next to a burrito shop, the atmosphere is very cozy, classy, and intimate inside. They’ve also got a nice patio with plants and lemon trees for a bit of privacy. The food was creative, hearty, and affordable. We had the seared ahi & citrus salad to start, some penne pesto verdura with squash, peas and asparagus, the sausage risotto, and house-made pappardelle with wild mushrooms, pistachio, and parmesan in a light broth. It was divine. All the pasta dishes are under $ 15, making date night pretty inexpensive(yet still totally filling, with plenty of leftovers). Service was super attentive, and food came out quick. Love that they offer glass or «glass & a half» options for wine, and serve each in a little carafe. A perfect casual dinner spot in p-town.

This will always be one of my favorite restaurants in downtown Petaluma. The food is delicious no matter what I end up ordering and the plates come in good size portions. Service is decent here, but they aren’t too friendly.

Sugo used to be my go to but today’s horrible service was the last straw for me. I kept giving Sugo a chance because I love their food but lately I’ve been greeted with horribly slow service from servers who couldn’t care less that I was there. Today not only was the service bad, but the food was bad as well. We came in at noon and there was no one else in the restaurant. We weren’t read the specials and were essentially ignored throughout our meal.(The only reason we remembered the specials is because we heard our server read them out to the table next to us after we had already ordered). I had to work to flag someone down to get water, get the check, etc. My gnocchi came burned and my husband never even got his order. That was my last effort to ever eat at Sugo. I’ll never go back again — but with their service it seemed like the goal was for us to never go back. So I’m sure they consider this a success. I’ll be taking my business elsewhere from now on.

Really great flavors. Adored the bruschetta trio. We tried the olive tapenade with goat cheese, artichoke and walnut pesto, and brie with green apple, almonds and honey. My friend and I also tried the risotto with crimini mushrooms, and house made sausage. Delicious! The atmosphere was pleasant and the wait staff attentive. I will definitely return.

We wandered in for coffee and dessert service, and opted to sit at the bar. The décor was welcoming and the service was warm and friendly. As you can see by my picture, we split the chocolate mousse. Outrageous! Smooth, creamy, chocolate-y, delicate, delicious… droool! Thank you Sugo Trattoria!

I may have died and came back to life upon taking my first bite of pork chop at dinner last night. I freaking LOVED my meal here. 5 stars times infinity. If you’ve been scrolling through Unilocal for hours trying to figure out where to eat tonight, stop now and go here. Husband and I were looking for a place to eat for our last dinner in Petaluma. We hadn’t been to any Italian spots yet, so Sugo seemed like a good option. The space is great. Very cozy and intimate. We were greeted and seated right away. Our server Alexis was friendly and attentive. We started off with a couple glasses of Chianti — delicious sipping wine and also tasted great with our meals. I ordered the pork chop, and my husband ordered the filet($ 20 and $ 24 respectively). My mouth was not prepared for what it experienced. Both entrees tasted absolutely incredible. The meat was sooo tender and juicy. The bleu cheese on the steak, sourced from Pt. Reyes, was the perfect touch. The filet was cooked to a perfect med-rare, as requested. My pork chop came with green beans covered in this to-die-for dijon mustard sauce and creamy, whipped mashed potatoes. It was the perfect meal. I basically talked about how amazing it was for a solid 45 minutes afterward. I’m sure I’ll continue bringing it up and reliving the deliciousness for several days/weeks/months/years to come. Worth every dollar. Like I said, stop looking at Unilocal and get to Sugo Trattoria for dinner right now!

Wow, what an absolute pleasure to experience the passion infused into the food here. I had the grilled filet mignon insalata with the gorgonzola cheese and balsamic vinegrette dressing on the side. This salad is served on a large plate, and is such a deal! It wasn’t tossed together; instead it was perfectly cooked meat and potatoes(and zucchini) on one side of the plate, and a large salad on the other side. You could mix it all together, but I didn’t, as I wanted to enjoy each part as presented. I also really like the delicious bread(three pieces) and olive oil, and was happy that a large container of water was provided. The service was friendly, and I was checked on several times to make sure everything was tasting good. I am looking forward to bringing family and friends to this restaurant.

Benvenuto in Sugo Trattoria! We enjoyed a romantic dinner at this cute restaurant which offers Northern Italian cuisine made with fresh local ingredients. The selection of wines and draft beers from Sonoma and Napa was the perfect accompaniment to the complimentary fresh bread and olive oil. The Bruschetta Trio was the perfect appetizer for the two of us. The Brie, Prosciutto, and Fig bruschetta was served with warm brie and was delicious! The Apple & Honey Bruschetta was sweet and almost better to enjoy at the end of the meal as dessert. I had my heart set on the Seared Scallop Risotto and was not disappointed. The risotto had deliciously rich flavor with tender pieces of asparagus, mushrooms, and three tender scallops. The Mr. enjoyed his fresh made Pasta and Meatballs. I think he enjoyed it since he finished the entire plate — just stopping short of liking the plate clean(we were in public after all)! I recommend making a reservation for the weekends and during the holiday season as the seating is limited inside. Buon appetito!
