I’ve eaten at a ton of Authentic Mexican restaurants, but this one is pretty on point! Lunch portion is a dinner portion firmly tummy, but the bonus is the right price! Feeling a smudge guilty about eating ever drop and morsel of both salsas, the queso dip and my entrée … Oh well… Start lemonade cleanse Saturday!

Return engagement! For anyone to rate place less than 4 stars just do not know what good Mexican food should taste like.

I work nearby and usually enjoy the food and service but today was the worst experience I have ever had at a restaurant. My daughter ordered the Chicken Sombrero salad which she has had before. The menu says the salad comes with an avocado ranch dressing. When the waitress brought the salad it came with a warm cheese dip with a dollop of guacamole on top. Warm cheese dip is NOT what my daughter wanted to dress her lettuce cucumber and chicken salad with. I informed the waitress(who was returning my food because they had made it wrong) and she came back with the warm cheese and guacamole stirred together and said it was the dressing. I said«no, this is NOT ranch dressing, this is warm cheese dip» so she brought a cup of plain ranch dressing. When I complained that it was not what the menu advertised(avocado ranch) I was informed(aggressively) by a male server(different from our waitress) that I WASWRONG and they always serve the warm green cheese dip with the salad and that’s what the avocado ranch dressing was supposed to be. By this time, the cheese dip had cooled and congealed and would not even release from the spoon. We have had it before it was never like this and he continued to argue with us that we were wrong. Our waitress returned only to deposit our bill(charged in full for everything). We won’t be back.

My favorite Mexican restaurant hands down! The Dos Reales margarita is the best around. I seriously can barely drink margaritas other places because they just do not compare. Tuesday is one of my favorite days of the week, because it’s taco Tuesday! They have all their great tacos 2 for 1(including shrimp and fish). Another thing I love about Dos is that they keep the environment updated and extremely clean. If you haven’t been, do yourself a favor and go!

Best Mexican food I’ve ever eaten. Vast variety of margarita choices. Cheap yet delicious lunch menu. They do 2 for 8 margarita deals almost everyday. Try the Acapulco. It’s divine.

Very poor service. Empty chips and drinks, no offer for refills, waitress didn’t even come by to ask. Food wasn’t good either. Won’t go back, much better Mexican all around the city.

Traditional Mexican restaurant atmosphere with a couple of flat screen TVs to watch games. Decent beer selection, and margaritas looked fantastic. Service was superb and food was delicious. I’d go back in a heartbeat!

This little spot has GREAT food, i got the veggie quesadillas on a spinach wrap, it was SOOOGOOD! however our customer service was TERRIBLE!!! the lady didn’t even speak a word barely, not a HI or how are you, or How was the food, when it came time to pay, she just tossed our ticket on table and walked off… i am all about customer service and it was like she had no care what so ever to be there. She didn’t even refill my water once. great food, terrible service!

Eh. Way to salty food, and yet it’s sweet tasting. I had the green chili pork burrito, nothing special at all, actually it had an odd sweet and salty taste. The chips are wal mart brand bagged chips, you would hope that an authentic Mexican restaurant would make their own. Guess that’s asking too much. The salsa was nice. It had a mild tomato taste and texture, with corn and cilantro. But again they added too much salt and it has a weird sweet taste. I doubt I come back, but at least I could eat the food this trip

We were a party of 15 that arrived without a reservation on a Saturday afternoon. They were very quick to pull some tables together and seat all of us. We didn’t have to wait long for our food and they kept the chips and salsa coming in the meantime. Everyone in our group enjoyed their food, which doesn’t happen often with so many people! I had fajitas, which were delicious, though a bit light on sour cream and guacamole. All in all I would say this is a slightly above average Mexican restaurant. It’s not the most fun or fantastic place I’ve ever been. However, you can always count on good food and service!

Best Mexican food in Kansas City! Love the white cheese dip. The food always comes out fast too! We come here often.

I love the 2 for 1 taco Tuesday dinner special! My carne asada tacos(about $ 1.75 each) were delicious, with plenty of tasty meat, a slice of avocado, and salsa. The beef tacos on hard shells(about $ 1 each) were large, and delicious, but did not include salsa. Ask for it on the side. The complimentary chips were thin and crispy, and the mild and medium salsas were both good, but I preferred the medium. I have always found the service to be somewhat friendly, attentive, and fast. The interior was clean, and comfortable. Very nice!

This is restaurant has some really yum food with a pretty good ambiance. It is built over a large area, you have out door sitting as well. I sat inside the restaurant which gives you a feel of sitting in a Mexican market place. The chips warm and light. I order a veggie burrito and dos reales margarita. i really liked the portion size as it was just enough for me, otherwise in mexican restaurants they give so much of food that you feel stuffed like a turkey on thanks givings, In short, The food was good and margarita was perfect. I felt that they were under staffed as the guy who was waiting upon my table was running around in bewilderment and couldn’t pay much attention to me.

I hadn’t eaten at Dos Reales in a very long time, but a friend and I decided to take advantage of a coupon she had for dinner before driving downtown to the Kauffman Center. When I saw that they had chicken in mole I immediately ordered it – it’s one of my favorite dishes when it’s made well and Dos Reales’s version is quite good: Puebla-style and with just a hint of sweetness(as it should be). Mole poblano may contain chocolate as one of its many ingredients, but it’s NOT supposed to be a sweet sauce! At Dos Reales the dish is made with chunks of boneless chicken breast meat, which makes it a bit easier to eat than trying to carve the meat off the bone when it’s covered in mole. I did manage to get the sauce on my shirt, nonetheless! For as long as I’ve been eating on this planet, you’d think I could manage to eat without being sloppy by now! Service was quick and pleasant and our meal was very reasonably priced. This is a good choice, especially if you’re in the neighborhood of Shawnee-Mission Medical Center and looking for a good place to eat!

Tried the Chile Colorado since I fell in love with dish at Rivera’s in Omaha, NE. This dish tonight was decent but lacked spice and flavor. The special was fajitas so tried some steak from another plate on the table and it was pretty good. Salsa is good but prefer the pico of the two styles provided. Overall decent Mexican food.

I’ve eaten at other locations before and have had a mixture of experiences. We REALLY enjoyed our food this time. We were there at a weird time of day, so our server was not around for refills much, but at least the food was great.

DOS Reales has an excellent meal special where you can try at least 8 things for about $ 7.99 or so. They brought me out 2 plates full of all sorts of Mexican cuisine. Unfortunately, I was sick and can’t comment on the specific taste of the dishes. I spent most of the night pouring extra hot sauce onto their chips trying to clear away my sinuses. The atmosphere was a bit too chain– like to be considered especially authentic and the bathroom was disgusting, But the service was prompt and attentive. I’d say it’s worth at least one try so you can make your own opinion.

Another solid meal here during a busy lunch hour on a Saturday. 17 bucks for two specials and a beer? That’s a great deal! Will definitely go back soon for the Habañera(no burning peppers on this dish). It was outstanding.

Tons of yummy, authentic Mexican food for hardly any money. Yay! Servers are always pleasant, food comes out hot, and I always take home leftovers(and I can put away some food, so this means HUGE portions). I have eaten here for years with no complaints. They have great drink specials. You can get a giantoid beer for about $ 3 in a frosty mug. You can get a strong, tasty, big margarita for $ 5. One is definitely enough for me! As for food, my favorites are the chile verde pork burrito and the chile rellenos with salsa verde. Everything is delicious, though, and I think you will like whatever you order. Try it!

We do not eat at any Dos Reales locations any more. We gave them many chances-trust me. I could eat Mexican every day. It’s in my DNA. But seriously, I’d rather drive across town or hit the grocery and cook at home. Here are a few reasons why, none of which are tied to a specific visit, but many visits to three different locations… Dry carnitas. I mean, DRY! Sopa(rice) = yucky. IJS! Service? Forget about it! I double checked with the wife. She confirms, «the food is just okay, but the service is terrible with a capital T!» The wife has spoken.
