Worst. Pizza. Ever. Do not waste your money. Ordered a chicken pesto pizza and two fountain drinks, paid $ 22, and was treated to a terrible, tasteless, overcooked, hard-to-cut-and-chew pizza.

The cook and the cashier were both friendly. The wait time didn’t seem as long as I was told, which was 10 to 12 minutes. They were very accommodating. I ordered the Mushroom Caramelized Onion Pizza and added Rotisserie Chicken, Spinach and Artichoke Hearts. It was covered with melted cheese and toppings. The flavorful pizza was very good, although on a cracker crust. It wasn’t burnt and I didn’t fill up on bread. I’d visit here again if ever at OAK during lunch. The high bar stools in front are uncomfortable, but it’s easy enough to move to a different area to eat. I’d give 5 Stars as far as Airport Food goes, but the Chicken tasted a bit off. It wasn’t bad, rather it just had a different stronger flavor of chicken than what I am used to. They could improve to 5 Stars by replacing the bar stools and perhaps using a different or fresher chicken. All the ingredients seemed very fresh. No complaints on my pizza. I ate way more of it than I had planned to.

$ 11.00 for an egg, bacon, croissant sandwich with 1 piece of bacon. I get it, airport prices, but at least provide a decent overpriced sandwich. 1 piece of bacon clumsily jammed into a mutilated croissant is not an $ 11 sandwich.

The staff was friendly, quick, and seemingly efficient however the pizza was burnt to a crisp. The cheese and ingredients themselves tasted fresh but they were hard to enjoy on the blackened dough. If crisp pizza and black crust is your thing you may actually enjoy this pizza.

I am here now. I got a meatball sandwich which was ok. Four small meatballs and a spoonful of marinera sauce. Not bad, not great. $ 11 is crazy but I AM in the airport. Why one star? As another reviewer noted –there is an employee benefit surcharge! That’s crazy and isn’t disclosed on the menu board… only on the receipt. They should simply increase prices to cover this. It looks like it’s a .5% charge.

The food here is gross and not fresh. I had a ham & cheese sandwich on rye that hid bad, slimy lettuce. It’s a shame because it’s a lack of care, like what Firewood Café offers, that pushes travelers to prepackaged food with printed expiration dates.

Pizza is really good, very expensive though and the staff’s loud conversation with each other on personal topics is very inappropriate.

I ate a quick lunch here this past week before I flew out of Oakland. It wasn’t particularly busy even though it was around lunchtime on a weekday. I got the chicken pesto pizza. Like other people said, the pizza isn’t particularly that great. And it’s overpriced for what you get. But considering you’re in an airport, it’s probably on the better side of things. Although it’s important to compare apples to apples, I still wouldn’t recommend eating here unless you happened to be starving and find yourself in the Oakland airport. Otherwise, take advantage of the other dining options the Bay area offers. The chicken pesto pizza didn’t have a lot of chicken — think one string sized piece per slice. The crust was thin and crispy, which I liked, but it was also a bit oily — I could see little cesspools of oil embedded into the cheese on my pizza. Service: The guy who took my order was very friendly. The wait for the pizza was probably under five minutes, which was pretty efficient. Bottom line: Like I said before, as airport food comes, this is pretty good, but I encourage you to take advantage of the many options the area offers(outside of the airport).

Well I guess it’s partly my fault that I walked away from this place unhappy. Over $ 6 for two bags of chips?! I get it, youre in an airport. You charge more because you can, but they’re just bags of chips. Again, my fault for not bringing my own snacks on the flight. I should’ve just ordered a pizza and tortured those on the flight sitting around me. We didn’t see anyone walking by with pizza though and it was almost time to board, so I went with the chips. It turns out crunchy chips were also awkward to eat in the tight quarters. I felt bad chomp-chomp-chomping with a stranger sitting so close on my left. The cashier was very nice though and wished me safe travels. Guess next time I fly out of Oakland I’ll definitely be getting a pizza if I’m hungry.

Hey, it’s pizza. It’s made fresh to order. It’s pricey, but not by much considering what i pay on the outside fir brick-oven pizza. And, it’s pizza! Strangely, the cashier was actually genuinely nice.

This is a conditional rating. It’s three stars all the way, except that it’s probably a four-star deal as far as airport fast food goes. It would get four stars at SFO, because the SFO Firewood isn’t this good, but different horses for different courses and all that. The cashier was repeating everything really slowly and being very kind. So kind, in fact, that it felt like she was making fun of us, or maybe trying to entertain herself. If you order a pizza from here, she’ll tell you, after confirming what kind of pizza you ordered, that it will take. .. anywhere from. .. twelve to fifteen minutes. She’ll say it like that. She said it to me, and I stood around and heard her say it to three other people. Do you remember kids who did that in grade school? They made fun of people without actually making fun of them, and the more you tried to get angry about it and point out how fake they were to other people, the less obvious it was? Yeah, it’s exactly like that. The pizza is pretty good. Thin crust and almost foldable except that it’s too crisp, so you’re cracker-breading it up, but that’s OK. I’m Armenian, right, and who hasn’t overheated lavash? It’s still good, and now I want to put three kinds of mushroom on my lavash. They seemed hard at work on some ridiculous sub, and that’s weird, because I don’t know whether they sell subs; but it was good, quick(probably more like. .. between eight and ten minutes), and worth it. Oh, OK, four stars. But if I catch you making fun of me one more time, it’s back down to three.

For airport food this is pretty good. Woodfire pizza in an airport was a pleasant relief from the typical fast food you usually find. Prices are a little high but what isn’t high priced in airports. Pizzas are ready in about 5 minutes, quick enough to enjoy before boarding your flight out of Oakland.

Decent option to pick up breakfast or a pizza at the Oakland airport. It is pricey as you would expect at any airport. An omelet was $ 11 and small water was around $ 3. They have a few small tables outside to sit down and people watch while you eat.

I really love well-made thin crust pizzas, and am totally delighted that one can get a really great pizza at the Oakland Airport. Compared to the frozen and tasteless California Kitchen pizza down the way, the Firewood Café is Nirvana! Their mushroom pizza, hand made with excellent cheeses, fresh tomato sauce, and great-tasting mushrooms, is a marvel! I get it every time I travel and love it as much as any restaurant pizza. Bravo! (I’d give it even more stars if I could!)

This has got to be one of the best food joints I have been to in an airport. Early one morning before departing on a flight to Nashville for work, I was in major need of something to fill me up before my long trip. This place was the closest to my gate and appeared to be the most appealing. And appealing it was :) With only a small selection of breakfast items, pizzas and some other items to choose from, it left me with not a lot of things to contemplate over. All I know, is I was in breakfast mode and there omelet with tomato’s, mushrooms, bell peppers and a variety of Italian cheeses, sounded right up my alley. It comes with potatoes and bread, which I opted out on and I believe it was $ 10 dollars and some change. First of all, what I loved about the place(while watching them prepare my food) was the fact that they wore gloves and prepared everything with attention and detail, Definitely a plus for me. Finally within a few minutes, my omelet was handed to me looking generously fluffy and down right appealing and fresh. And it certainly was everything I hoped for and more. The omelet it self was not only generous in portion, though cooked perfectly and the marriage of the savory Italian cheeses and fresh vibrant tomato’s and bell peppers left everything with a full happy ending and set my day off on fantastic start! Overall, It’s a small place with only a few little tables and seats, however, the food for just something so simple, was absolutely fantastic and the prices are certainly considerably fair as well. I was also impressed with how friendly the staff were as well. Definitely my next go — to place @ the oakland air :)

I try not to eat at airports as it is usually over-priced and sub-par quality. However, I didn’t have time to stop for a bite to eat yesterday before my return trip and hadn’t eaten all day. So I decided to give Firewood a try. I ordered the Margherita pizza. The basil and tomatoes were fresh and it was cooked to order. Nice quality and perfectly cooked, pretty impressive for airport food.

wanted a TOASTED bagel, Starbuck’s only has a room temp bagel… and a tube of cream cheese… Firewood not only toasted my bagel in their Pizza oven(now that’s thinkin’) they offered me butter and cream cheese… score! It’s a quick breakfast in a bag I know, but it’s so much better warm and toasty. Oh and they had an everything bagel… MMMMMM!

When i came into the terminal i was caught by the bright sign and big line of people. I didn’t want to wait in line to get food but since they were busy i figured they must be good. I got snacks for the plane such as a blueberry muffin which they warmed up, a parfait what was super fresh and just sweet enough. And for breakfast i got the breakfast sandwich which is a croissant with scrabble eggs with a choice of sausage or bacon. I chose bacon. The food came in a nice to go container that kept my food perfectly warm by time i ate it 20 minutes later. Surprisingly it was the perfect breakfast and more then i could finish. Next time i fly out, I’m trying the pizza or the clam chowder in a bread bowl.

When it comes to airport food there is never a large selection, as food is always gross and over priced. The review for this café is relative to other airport restaurants(ie a 5 star airport restaurant would probably be a 3 star regular restaurant) Anyways, as i was walking through the terminal near my gate I stumbled upon burger king, subway, some chinese fast food, and firewood café. Deciding that firewood was the least evil choice, I ordered a clam chowder in a bread bowl and hoped for the best. The bread bowl was good(but how can you mess up a bread bowl) but the clam chowder was watery and salty, and really gross overall. Total it came out to $ 8, which is pretty expensive, even for airport food. I guess the point of this review is to say if you’re ever at Oakland International Airport stay away from Firewood clam chowder, or if you are insistent on trying it then maybe choose the pizzas instead.
