Mac and cheese isn’t special. The service was special in that it was the worst I’ve ever experienced. If someone orders food, just give them silverware as soon as they order… every party(three groups of 2) at the bar had to stare down the waitress with their food sitting in front of them. My soda refill wasn’t requested. It was offered. What I originally had was repeated back to me, «ginger ale?» but, I was served coke.

Go here! Just do it. I stumbled in here about 10 years ago, and it has turned into a must stop every time I go to NOLA. Get the Peanut Butter Burger w/Cheddar cheese, and then thank me later for your mouth-gasm. Music from the juke box is loud, drinks are great, and bartenders are always sweet with the right amount of smartassedness. I love this place!

Enjoyed our burgers! Variety of burgers to choose from and the sides were good, as well. Good pours on our drinks. Good, fresh and the bar ladies very nice.

A big surprise — this place looks like it’s just a hip dive bar, but it’s hiding a fantastic burger joint in it’s midst. The burger menu has a bunch of interesting combinations, and they are well worth trying, including the infamous peanut butter burger. Get ready for a big meal that’s a big mess and a big amount of flavor.

Loved it here. A dive bar with interesting burgers. On a cold January night on a Friday this place was slower than usual according to the staff which was fine with me. We sat right away upstairs at the bar. The menu of burgers had very interesting combinations. Knowing that peanut butter is my favorite I opted for the peanut butter burger. Yes the burger was smothered in peanut butter! You know what… it wasn’t half bad at ALL in fact it was amazing. Like salted caramel a perfect blend of sweet and salty. Plus it was loaded with bacon on top. The burger itself was juicy. Usually when I order medium well it comes out burnt but this was actually cooked right. They offer Mac and cheese as a side and that was great too. Usually places make the Mac and cheese bland and not cheesy. This one was very cheesy like a like with a mixture of cheeses not just one. Tasted baked. I would come back here again!

I have been wanting to try out this place for the past few months to see what the crave was about with this peanut butter burger. it was pretty disappointing. The location of the place is downtown so of course it was street parking, which was pretty hard to find. The place was divey and a bit dark. I could barely see whats in my burger or on my food. The service was ok. Nothing to outstanding. The food was not up to the hype that I’ve heard. We ordered the boudin ball which was too salty. The peanut butter sandwich was way too greasy and couldn’t really taste the peanut butter. Sorry, yo mama, but I won’t be returning.

After seeing four stars we decided to pop in for a late night bite. Good beer and perfectly terrible burgers. Stale bun, salty, thin, poor quality beef, and weird bacon bits. Seriously the worst burger I have ever had. Save your 14 bucks and just have a beer!

Huge burgers. Bacon burger and loaded potato = SOOO much bacon. This place was pretty cool to stumble upon-heard we came just after a Bowie parade and apparently Bowie fans love mac and cheese so they sold out– we got the potato instead which was very yummy. I’d suggest splitting this meal with someone –it’s a huge portion!

Very poor service we waited over 40 minutes for our burgers and then the Mac n Cheese was cold … Burger was burnt and bread was stale. Only one bartender working up top and was so busy no way she could have kept up. Not worthy of the 4 star review I read to decide to go there.

In hindsight, I feel like I failed my Yo Mama’s experience. How could I possibly go to this bar and not crack a single yo mama joke? Sigh. Aside from no pathetic attempt at humor from me, I enjoyed my experience. After hanging out for a while at the Dungeon, our bartender recommended their sister restaurant for a bite to eat. Good call. While this is a burger joint, I was trying to cross a few NOLA classics off my list. I went with a slushy beverage to start. It was called Unicorn Tears. I’d be a horrible person if I didn’t drink the Unicorn Tears. Then I had the Boudin Balls and the alligator/crawfish sausage. I’ve never had these balls before and thoroughly enjoyed the fried and meatiness to them. Although the sausage was just one link cut into pieces, it was tasty and totally hit the spot. The Unicorn Tears were less than enjoyable. They don’t exist anyways so why put them into a novelty beverage. I’d return and will be sure to try a burger and crack a «yo mama» joke.

Yo Mama’s is a good value off Bourbon for a quick and basic meal. That’s why I decided to round up to 4 stars. Plus you get a Yo Mama joke on your receipt, and that’s fun. We started with Unicorn Tears, and I’m here to say: Do not order the Unicorn Tears. Our server said it was«some sort of vodka drink,» but the receipt said«margarita,» and I have absolutely no idea what it actually was — I do, however, know that it made me cough with nearly every sip. Eep! I ordered a cheeseburger cooked medium with bacon and no tomato. The burger came out cooked well-done with no bacon. I can deal when it’s charred, but in that case I definitely need some bacon. I requested it again and a little condiment container with cold bacon bits typically used in salads came out. Not the type of bacon topping I was picturing at all… but okay. Food was absolutely average, but not bad. Yo Mama’s wouldn’t be #1 on my to-return list, but I’d give them a second chance if the opportunity arose in the future for whatever reason.

I tried the blue cheese burger and added bacon. It was a big burger! It was juicy. It was grilled and tasted great. Very tender. The staff was very polite. Rachel makes a great margarita! They don’t sell fries so I expected more of my baked potato. It wasn’t hot enough to melt the butter or the shredded cheese that they topped it with… kinda disappointing. That’s the reason I couldn’t give it 4 stars. I would eat another burger from there though!

Being in the French Quarter and wanting a burger, we walked over to Yo Mama’s. Hadn’t been in a while. Loud, loud music; but we stayed anyway. Cheeseburgers w/loaded baked potato for both of us. Tasted fine, a lot of food for $ 12. Good drinks, OK service. Very loud music ! The juicy big patty finally overcame the thin bun, resulting in a knife & fork burger, but still good. The music was terribly loud. Go, but don’t forget earplugs ! Rick

Dear Peanut Butter Lovers, Yes, this place has a peanut butter burger. Yes, it has bacon on it too. You can’t go wrong with the PB burger(with a baked potato with even more bacon) or any of the other burgers for that matter. You should definitely ask for some of the home made hot sauce(put in on your baked potato, duh). Pro-tips: they have an amazing tequila list and are open late for your late night Quarter burger needs.

Only in New Orleans for 2 days but so glad I stopped here! Such a chill atmosphere and I just wanted to eat everything! Baked potato was one of the best I ever had and the Mac and cheese really hit the spot! Burgers were excellent too! My group tried the pb burger and it was really something special! I hope I get to go back one day

A haiku for Yo Mama’s Bar & Grill: Cheap, legit burgers What you said ’bout my mama? Jukebox plays Queen, yes! The service was chill. Food portions are huge and burgers range from $ 9 – 13, they each come with a hefty side of your choice(no fries, though!). Hurricanes were strong and not too sweet. $ 1 for two songs on the jukebox with an infinite list of classic rock songs. Dark, gritty and sexy interior — all in a good way. Don’t let the sexy posters scare you away, it’s a cool spot.

Ahh! I am so conflicted. I really wanted to love this place but it just did not win me over. The vibe is definitely a dive bar, which I normally love. The place is lit in red lights which messed with my eyes. I could barely concentrate and I felt awful. When I stepped outside it was so bright in comparison. The menu has great options. For sides you can sub a salad for no additional cost. I ordered the simple cheeseburger. Nothing crazy. I just needed something as a base for all of my day drinking ahead. However, I wanted a smaller burger. If you get a small burger with a side it is just as much as a big burger with a side. It is like a quarter difference. I find that annoying. The burger was good. Was it great? No. It was actually pretty average. The salad was terrible. It looked like it was the same toppings they used on the burgers. Chopped iceberg lettuce, sliced tomatoes and cucumbers. It was nice to have a salad option but they obviously did not try very hard with the salad. Would I go there again? Probably not. It is a good burger but NOLA has so much more to offer other places. I did not have a cocktail but if you are looking for cheap drinks, their signs listed tons of specials.

We came here because I was craving one of their make-your-own baked potato; we stayed because the dive bar ambiance was perfect for us. Great little bar, right across the street from Preservation Hall. One bartender was working, and while she wasn’t quick, and forgot what we ordered, she was nice. Our experience was so fun because we were able to chat with the owner, Art, and he was a very cool dude. Music played from either the iPad, or the jukebox, and it was mostly a combo of 70’s and 80’s rock bands(although we did hear one Lionel Richie song-hah!). My bf completely enjoyed his burger, although the mac and cheese was nothing special. Every receipt has a ‘yo momma…’ joke on it, which cracks me up. Smokey, divey, tiny, unpretentious — perfect!

Ein Muss in New Orleans!
