Took the Fiancée for her first time to NOLA. It was a weekend with lots of rain. Just about dinner time, the skies opened up, so we went into the restaurant potion upstairs on Bourbon St. We ordered the combination plate that has red beans/rice, seafood Jambalaya and craw-fish étouffée and we also ordered a bowl of seafood gumbo. The main staples that you think of when you are in Cajun country. The only thing that was halfway OK was the red beans and rice. When we said something to the server, she barely acknowledged that we were displeased… and the gentleman that was at the bottom of the steps that showed us the menu and enticed us in, was very obtuse and showed no compulsion to try to resolve the situation. I know that we are tourists there, and there are more coming in everyday… but I would say that if you are going to spend $ 50 to share a plate with someone, my recommendation is to go somewhere else.

Walked up to eat. When I sat down I asked what the special was. The server responded the crab cakes. I asked if the special was different from the crab cakes on the menu she responded no. I then asked why they where a special if they where the same thing and same price of what’s on the menu and at that she walked away. Also they have no beer on tap. Skip the bad service and crappy service and walk down to Finnegans around the corner. Good good good beer and specials that are special!!!

Great place to watch sports. Even though it is located on Bourbon St it feels like a small local pub. Good prices and food is available. Bartenders are friendly and Dave provided us great service.

Went here with a local resident we had just met at another bar we loved. She said the bartender there was great(Lulu — I think a nickname she gave her for Lucy?). So went in and from the moment we stepped inside the bartender lady — who was about 73 and dressed like a Miley Cyrus 19 yr old wannabe(give it up already!) decided she had it out for me. She was incredibly rude and told me I was sitting in the wrong seat. Honestly, my husband and I were going to order something in Go cups and leave. BUT I wasn’t even allowed to do that bc I was«in the wrong seat» and as she called me a «rude Piece of s**t». So you can imagine at this point I’m fairly unhappy. And my husband already ordered a beer. I wanted to give them NOMONEY at this point bc who calls a paying customer that? I get up and refuse to order anything. My husband hands over a $ 10 to pay his $ 5.50 beer tab. We were definitely NOT leaving a tip. But mysteriously when he gets his change it’s dollar light. I saw that old biddy pocket a dollar. She knew she was awful and not getting anything and STOLE a dollar– REALLY? You belittle, call names, then steal from your customers? She also told us we didn’t really matter to her or the bar because we weren’t locals… Uh, you are just off Bourbon street. WHODOYOUTHINKKEEPSYOUGOING??? Avoid this place. I am trying to contact the owner because I think they need to know they have a rude, mean spirited, klepto working for them. Had this been my first experience in the Crescent City I would have hated it and probably decided everyone there sucked, but I know better. The town is awesome and there are SO many amazing people. Just not at this bar.

It seemed that we were forgotten after we checked in. We waited fifteen minutes for a table, then they sat the crowd behind us instead of us. Our waitress was in a huff and arguing with the waiter right in front of us. Redemption? Great view of Bourbon Street. Great atmosphere. The food was truly excellent. Our waitress was a little frazzled at first, but friendlier later on. This place is great! Don’t miss it. The étouffée was excellent. Great flavor with a kick. The beans were actually my favorite part of the meal. Delicious. The cheesecake. Oh my god! The cheesecake. It was so good! This place is a must.

If you need to get off Bourbon for a bit and wind down from the craziness, come to Johnny White’s. There’s beer, mixed drinks, seating, and an upstairs balcony all waiting for you! The bartender working the day we visited was very nice and welcoming. There seemed to be a bunch of regulars stopping by. The prices are decent. It seems kind of divey but not filthy like some other dive bars in the area. Definitely a solid place to check out.

The bar downstairs desperately needs a new bartender. Preferable one who doesn’t act like her dog died that morning and she accidentally put a crayon in the dryer with her clothes and her water got cut off that morning and a taxi ran over her left foot and she kept accidentally hitting her funny bone with the exact opposite reaction of «funny» and she was cursed with a nonstop, everyday period that ruined her favorite jeans, every favorite pair of jeans she ever bought, and it rained continuously on her everyday of her whole life and she never had an umbrella(not even once) then maybe, just maybe she wouldn’t be so bitter, so cruel where I would suggest that this bar needs a new bartender for me to ever want to endure just the pure mean, bitterness she exudes.

Great bar. Lucy is an awesome bartender, and they even had the Green Bay Packers game on. It’s a Wisconsinites home away from home.

Best bar in the French Quarter. Awesome bartenders, great jukebox, best bloody marys EVER. Seriously. The black sludge is magical. It’s a shame because I can tell that the few bad reviews on here are for Johnny White’s Pub and not Johnny White’s Bar. There is no food nor an upstairs, so get it right, people. Everytime I am in New Orleans I spend most of my time here… and it’s a family tradition! First thing we do is get bloody marys and play Enter Sandman on the jukebox. Can’t wait to be back in 5 days! Much love from Houston to Johnny White’s Bar!

I like this bar to get cheap drinks and watch sports. Bartenders are nice and laid back. My only complaint is when I was hanging out here all afternoon on a Saturday and there was two couples who took turns with each other’s spouses in the upstairs bathroom. Obviously with only a few people in the bar anyone could tell what was going on, but bartender didn’t say anything. Really creeped me out when I had to use the restroom after many beers.

Cool place, good drinks. Everyone had a great disposition about them. The music was great too. I liked that it was a little off Bourbon — gave me a chance to actually move around in a bar!

This small dive bar is a good break from the madness of Bourbon Street, and also there are extremely nice people working there. In fact, our bartender actually brought in a crock pot of jambalaya to share with her customers just because the Saints game was on at that time. That is beyond nice. The drinks were good, and the bartender was great at making each drink specifically according to our tastes. The atmosphere was typical of a good dive bar, dark, cheap, laid-back crowd, no attitudes. I’ll definitely stop in again when I’m in town.

I’ve always been fond of Johnny White’s. It’s two doors down from Reverend Zombie’s. I’m not talking the one on Bourbon that’s two stories, nor the one that serves food. This is the designated bar across from Preservation Hall. It’s small, dark, shot gun style and the beers are reasonably priced. It feels townie because the tourists usually shy away from it(no loud music, no barkers dragging people in). It also was the only bar to stay open through Hurricane Katrina and therefore, I tip my hat to you, Johnny White’s.

Johnny White’s is one of my favorite dives off of Bourbon. It’s across the street from Preservation Hall and Pat O’s. I love this place because it’s what a dive should be… Strong drinks, a great bartender, loud music, a kick ass jukebox, kinda dirty, and a crowd that is there to drink! Cheers y’all!

This is for sure an awesome dive bar on Bourbon St. Lots of friendly locals hang out here — even the bar manager can been seen tossing back a few! Really low key for the location, this little bar is a great place to get your buzz on while watching drunkards stumble by. I found the drinks to be very well poured and inexpensive for the most part. The bartenders are more friendly than other joints so that’s what kept us going back. If they let you behind the bar while wearing a sparkly tutu just for the sake of a photo you know they are pretty chill. The restrooms are located upstairs so make sure you look at each and every step as you head up. There are cute little sayings on the staircase that will for sure bring a smile to your face. I wish I could remember what they were but I do remember cracking a smile :-) All in all this is a great place to stop and have a drink or seven. It’s got a great location, is laid back and has solid air flow from the open windows and doors. I’m a fan!

Was heading to the Boondock from Saints & Sinners back on 2÷23÷13 but Johnny’s sits right next to it… The Boondock looked a bit too crowded and loud for my taste so I backtracked about 5 steps and grabbed a stool at the bar… Can’t speak for other nights and times but on this night this place was a drinkers bar! Crowd was pretty thin pre-midnight and it was perfect if you wanted a dark, dingy, quiet joint to just sit in, get tight and conversate… Credit cards are accepted but you gotta run a minimum $ 10 tab to use it… no big cause that’s 2 mixed drinks or 2 – 3 beers to clear the limit… and let’s face it you ain’t stopping in here just to grab a drink to go! I loved this place and the bartendress mixed a stiff $ 5 Dewars & water… I gotta create a list just to put this place on it…

Very small little joint with an awesome bar tender who made several nice recommendations and steered us away from their drinks that are not-so-outstanding! We stopped in here at the front end of our bar hopping, and loved it so much that we stopped back in as our last stop to tell the bar tender all the dumb tourist crap we did. Good prices relative to the location, and nice cozy atmosphere!

There is also one around the corner on Bourbon Street. Basically identical. They have Sierra Nevada Pale Ale on tap, which is a rarity for most bars in Louisiana… I like beer with horse-power… at least 6% ABV or higher… Most of the bars in NOLA have Abita, Bud Light(foul stuff), Coors Light, usually something else that’s not very good. The micro-brew culture regretfully has not really caught on here… So it was a pleasant surprise to find this place with Sierra on tap… It’s a little too close to main bourbon street, and right across the street from Pat O’Briens so you get a lot of tourists here… but its still a cool bar.
