If I lived here, this would be my bar! It’s far from being a tourist traps, the bartenders are so great, and the vibe in here is as if you are instantly a part of the family. They don’t do the foo foo drinks like they do on Bourbon Street. This is a «real bar.» It may look a little dive-y or some may say that it has character. The first night, I went in with a group of 15 and the bartender was great. She got everyone their drinks and then after she saw us taking pictures, she offered to take the picture. She hooped on a chair and click! The picture came out great. I went back on a Monday hoping to catch my Chargers game. First off, the bartender there was, again, great. Different bartender but they made me feel at home. It was nice because they, as well as the customers, knew two of my friends(they were not with me and live in NOLA) so they just included me in their conversation after that. These locals are not snooty and embraced me. The bartender and the customers made some suggestions and after a few drinks, I thanked them and began walking just to see two of the locals walk to us and lead us to the new location. Nothing like NOLA love. This place is just what you expect from real New Orleans. RECOMMENDATION: If you’re going to Preservation Hall, walk here before to have a drink and order a large drink to go so you can take it into the Hall since they don’t sell drinks.

First time here! Some friends were drinking it up. It’s very laid back, very mixed crowd. It’s got the influence of an Irish Pub, with the trashiness we love about New Orleans. Very reasonably priced drinks, and Jenny K, the bartender, was AWESOME. Recommend you stop by! Don’t do it if you need vodka infused with elderberries picked by Tibetan monks, then hand rubbed by virgins until they juice. Stop by if you want to find some new people to chill and chat with.

Popped in this bar while trying to find a restaurant to have dinner. They have a good selection of craft beers and the bartender was super friendly and knowledgeable. Apparently they always have at least one of their TVs showing the movie Boondock Saints as well, which is a plus in my book.

If the perfect pint of Guinness makes a place magical then Boondock has a rainbow slide to bourbon and a unicorn ride to drunk. Come when it’s slammed to see someone get thrown out on their arse with class. Come when it’s slow to find the quarter’s finest industry staff and local geniuses rubbing elbows and ideas. Yeah the ceiling could be cleaned but then it wouldn’t be the dirty south. Put a buck in that juke box, and tip your bartender like a rockstar because at the end of the day those two things make this place saintly. So come by for one or 5& give your soul a treat for keeping you still alive. (If you’re going to get a shot of Jameson, maybe try Powers? A bit smoother, still full on Irish and more of this century)

No complaints for a Saturday Night. Not to full of a bar, block off of Bourbon St. Went here after finishing a ghost tour. I love the movie Boondock Saints and I an pretty sure they have it on loop playing on a TV. For a Saturday night $ 4 Fireball Shots and $ 5 Jameson Whiskey is a good buy.

We walked through Bourbon Street and got sucked in to the craziness quick. After walking around, we decided that we wanted to sit down in a place to get out of the humidity and heat. I found this bar here on Unilocal and used the GPS to walk there. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted by the bartender(can’t remember her name) and she took our drink order. She was very friendly and extremely efficient. The place was fairly small and it was away from all the crowds on Bourbon Street. If you want a place to sit and enjoy a beer in peace, then this is the place.

Found this place by accident when walking through the French quarter. It’s a little off the beaten path but well worth the stop. They have Guiness on tap and the bartender is friendly and very outgoing. Small little dive bar with great character.

So after walking out of Pat O’ Briens I see this bar… I was slightly concerned with the amount of motorcycles outside. I could see the crowd from the curb so I said to my wife lets go in. This was a nice IRISH bar. Had the old style copper bar top, and benches behind the bar stools. My wife and I both had beers and the bartender immediately starts talking to us. Very friendly, start talking about Pittsburgh and you can tell many tourists do not venture over here! A few minutes later a few of the regulars start talking to us as well. Next thing you know they are buying Irish Car Bombs for us. The locals even gave us recommendations to try some other good bars in different neighborhoods which we asked about. The next night we stop back again, and the bartender immediately remembers me and asks if we want the same. Same great, friendly experience. This is a nice departure of the crazy Bourbon Street experience. it is low key, relaxed, and friendly. The only drawback is you are able to smoke in here. I will definitely come back here! This was my kind of place! Thanks for a great time!

A cool place, half a block off Bourbon Street. The service was excellent and friendly. The drink prices very reasonable. It is a fun pub like atmosphere here, where you can strike up a conversation with the other patrons. We liked it.

As a local, I’d never been here(stupidly) because I’d always lumped it in with the more touristy French Quarter bars. Silly me! I recently spent a lovely afternoon catching a Saints game at the Boondock with a few friends who used to live in the Quarter and frequent the bar. The bartender was fantastic and made us some really decadent, delicious boozy coffees. I’m sure the bar’s proximity to Pat O’s alone must mean that sometimes there are some drunk, visor and fanny pack wearing types hanging around, but now that I know what a great spot this is for us locals just looking to kill an afternoon in the Quarter, I’ll absolutely be back! You can never have enough favorite French Quarter bars!

A local’s joint in the heart of the French Quarter! Or that’s what it feels like, and that’s why I loved it! We stopped in after the show at Preservation Hall for drinks and to use a bathroom(which isn’t fancy… it’s a dive just off of Bourbon Street… there are no pristine fancy toilets nearby… deal with it). Drinks are decently priced, particularly for the location. The bartender was fantastic. Friendly, and when we came back the next night, she remembered our drinks! Impressive! I met and talked to some locals as well as other tourists. All fun and friendly. This is my kind of place. If you are in the French Quarter and want something a little less Bourbon Street-y…go here. S’fantastic!

Swung by a couple of times. Great service! Probably the best we had in New Orleans. Our first bartender gave us a lot of ideas of places to go; super friendly. Mainly a locals spot, so it’s pretty quiet — this was a plus to us. They do keep their namesake film on loop there. If we lived in NOLA, we’d be regulars.

Arguably one of the best bars in New Orleans. I first discovered it years ago, after a legendary night of bar hoping on an afternoon when you just want to crawl up and die. We, of course, love the movie and were drawn to the name, and once we discovered that they played the movie 24/7, we were there for the duration. The rest of the afternoon was spent nursing our hangovers with some pretty tasty cocktails and watching Boondock Saints. Our bartender was a true rockstar and kept the crowd so involved that we had to return the following year. Sadly, she had moved on to another bar, but she left behind some awesome co workers that had us laughing throughout our stay. This is a great locals spot that seems to get the fact that a good bar is all about entertainment, showmanship, and charm. Hands down one of my favorite bars in New Orleans, You might walk into this place a tourist, but you will feel like a local in no time. Oh, and btw, great T-Shirts.

We wondered in here because of the name as we are fans of the Boondock Saints movie. We had a couple of drinks. The bartender was nice and made us some nice strong drinks. It is a nice dive bar and seems like there is a regular crowd here. It is more mellow than some of the crazy, party places in the French Quarter. If you find yourself in packed bars on Bourbon St and want a place that is a a dive and low key, then come here. We did not try to the food.

After a disappointing visit to Apple Barrel, we headed back to the Quarter and stumbled upon Boondock Saint. I’d heard of the bar, a stone’s throw from the madness of Bourbon, from Kyle H and Nick M, so we decided to give it a shot. If you’re not into the craziness that is Bourbon Street at night, you should enjoy Boondock Saint. It’s a simple bar with a few TVs, including one that constantly streams its namesake movie. It’s not gimmicky either, you won’t find any of those overpriced monster cups of frozen drinks so many of the places on Bourbon hawk. Our bartender was a doll, very friendly and helpful. She directed us to Spotted Cat when we mentioned we were a bit disappointed in Apple Barrel. As I said, if you’re looking for an oasis from the madness — give Boondock Saint a try.

Pretty good bar, but considering all the great options in NOLA I probably wouldn’t go back here. Good Stuff — Pretty cool vibe, dark and cozy — Outrageously cheap drinks, even though this is somewhat standard in NOLA Bad Stuff — We had food with us when we walked in, and asked the waitress if we could eat in there. She said yes, as long as each person bought a drink. The five of us were a little scattered, so it took us a couple minutes to all get together and sit down(a couple of us went to look for a lost ID next door, so we weren’t even actually eating at this time). During that time she mentioned at least five times that we needed to order drinks repeating over and over that«it’s just common courtesy». Her attitude improved as the night went on and she realized we weren’t trying to scam her, but what an awful welcome anywhere. Depends on You — Crowd is definitely a bit older. We’re in our mid to late twenties, and everyone here was probably, on average, about ten years older than that.

A nice little pub to duck into with friends from out of the rain or extreme heat. Located in a nice row of fun places and a really good burger place, so if your not digging the feeling at this bar, easy to walk left and right into more fun. Has a very tight knit crowd that is friendly and fun bartenders that make you feel welcomed. This is one of my regular stops when I hit the quarter. Always a decent group in here, sometimes really crowded. Only drawback, which has nothing to do with the bar, is the motorbikes that sometimes park right in front of their door. The morons sometimes start up their bikes to make noise and it fills up the bar with exhaust fumes. Great music selection on the jukebox. Jameson is the thing here, as is Irish car bombs and Guiness.
