Love this place! It’s much better than its counterpart, superior grill! Our waitress Ryan? Was an absolute doll. She was personable and knowledgeable of all of the menu items. The space is big and airy, which makes it almost impossible to feel crowded. I strongly suggest you try the crawfish cornbread!!!

Enjoyed everything from the appetizer to the dessert and coffee. Loved the location… not in the French quarter but an eclectic part of town called the Garden District. Parking is tough but they offer complementary valet. Food is freshly prepared and service was attentive

I soooo wanted to love this place. but what I ate I wasn’t impressed with. I had the shrimp n grits and my gf had the shrimp po boy, which came with some hand cut fries, hers was delicious mine was too rich. so it’s gets only 3 stars from me, but I’m willing to try it again upon my next return…

We were on a street car just looking at the beautiful architecture when someone called out, «Superior Seafood famous shrimp Poboy!» Our stomachs started growling then so we decided to get off and try this place. Everything was so delicious! The shrimp po boy was good, but I think the chargrilled oysters were amazing! I also got the Napoleon black fish which was also amazing. I loved the live music and the service was wonderful. We sat on the patio, listened to some live jazz and truly enjoyed our wine and food. What a great experience!

Great experience with my parents, awesome wait staff and delicious food! We all shared(group of four): — crab stuffed mushrooms(amazing) — 1 dozen raw oysters — 1 dozen chargrilled oysters(ammmmazing) — bowl of gumbo — fried green tomatoes — mussels in red sauce Wait staff placed orders as we went which was great(even though we ended up being too full anyway). Drinks were awesome. I got the frozen pomegranate mojito and my mom got the Moscow mile — both were delicious!

Happy hour is a good bang for your buck. The frozen French 75s are booze filled and refreshing ! Knock back a couple dozen oysters with your buds. At $ 6 a dozen for raw, you can slurp up your fare share with out breaking your wallet. Servers are very kind and accommodating which always makes for a SUPERIOR dining visit.

Went to a group dinner here recently of about 20 – 30 people. Service was appropriately staffed and drinks and food were well timed. Set menu included a 1 option salad which was underwhelming flaccid lettuce with a couple olives and feta cheese, coated in an oily completely unremarkable dressing. The veggie hoarders I think found it dismally small, but alas no one comes here for the salad. Entrees were the chicken with asparagus, shrimp and grits, and blackened fish, the latter of two which were very well received. I have a legitimate biopsy-diagnosed version of celiac(gluten allergy) where I get a skin rash(dermatitis herpetiformis). Trying to explain this is difficult so I just ask for gluten free menus. There wasn’t one and the waitress offered half heartedly modifying the shrimp and grits to be gluten free, which would require removing the cream sauce and etoufee. When my meal came, with great flourish they identified it as the gluten free version, which looked identical to my friend’s normal version, drenched in cream sauce and with generous etoufee.(Theme: heavy cream, fat, carb, low to no vegetable). I asked the waitress who said that it was the Gf version but that they are limited in modifications… which seemed like an unconvincing sell. I ate just the shrimp anyways with as little sauce as I could have just in case, it was heart clogging but tasty, just like all the gluten laden food I used to eat. Skipped most of the grits with etoufee on my plate after I stopped trusting it whole heartedly, ordered a side of asparagus which was less spears than I have fingers on one hand. I got my gluten rash the next day. Smh. Definitely not gluten free. I bet there are many celiacs with explosive diarrhea at this place. Luckily I lack at GI symptoms, but still annoying nonetheless. Summary: Tasty, cholesterol heightening, abs ruining, constipation encouraging, fiber deficient. Good service. Pretty sub par accommodation for special requests or allergies. Would hate to try to be celiac here or lactose intolerant here — if you actually stuck to your restrictions, you’d probably just get a few flaccid bits of lettuce.

Streetcar stops in front of it.:) which is very convenient High end restaurant. Good service. Good food. Goos price good portions. The shrimp pasta wasnt overwhelming. Loved it. The blackened catfish by itself was a bit on the salty side but combined with everything else — sauce, corn, mashed potato — it’s pretty good.

Came to dinner on a Wednesday night here kicking off a weekend with friends in New Orleans. We stayed off Magazine Street, and the area is a bit pricey as far as food is concerned. We wanted something a little more laid back for our first night in town, and I was honestly worried SS&OB would be too trappy(as in tourist-trappy) but I was extremely pleasantly surprised. We looked at a couple of higher-end places nearby, but with such small menus and high prices, we were worried not everyone in our group would be satisfied. I would hate to drag a friend to a $ 30 per plate dinner to have them NOT be able to find something they want! The place is super cute and feels casual yet dressed up at the same time. It kind of reminds me of an Italian restaurant with the dark wood and vintage tile floors. Anyway you put it, the ambiance is nice. We were seated on the porch area which was nice, dark, and intimate feeling. We started with some AMAZING cocktails. I had the Frozen French 75 and my gal pal had the Frozen Mimosa. Of course you have to start out with frozen drinks in New Orleans! They were both good but I really loved mine(and I hate gin). The boyfriend got two other drinks that were absolutely delicious but I can’t remember what they were. Many of the cocktail items come with delicious fresh MINT that just makes you think, yes, I am in the south on the porch enjoying a cocktail! Next we got Mint Juleps that were strong and delicious. The food was also great, especially for something that I thought would be too chain-y at first. The boys got fried oyster poboys that were delicious. I got a shrimp salad — shrimp grilled to perfection and a healthy portion. You won’t leave this place hungry. My other friend got the Pasta Vieux Carre which was also great and loaded with seafood. Just a huge, ridiculous amount of pasta here. It was a touch spicy but very good. I would definitely return, and most importantly I would definitely recommend this place to a friend!

I’ve been to this place countless times over the years. Consistently great food and service… and happy hours. It’s a friendly atmosphere with some live music playing in the late evenings. You can go in wearing shorts and a tee or business casual and never feel out of place. Try any of the of local fares from gumbo to red fish and you won’t go wrong. The tuna tartar is fresh with great tasting Asian flavors! Also hit up their happy hour for the frozen French 75 and oysters! AND they also have a bomb-ass flowerless chocolate cake! Done. Go try them.

I fell in love with this place. I fell in love with it so much that we came back again the next day. Their happy hour is AMAZING(from 4 – 6 pm everyday) and possibly the best I have seen anywhere. My sole purpose of coming here was for the 50 cents oysters. Okay, no one told me how BIG these gulf oysters were going to be. Most oysters that I had at other restaurants were small and always left me craving for more. I am telling you, these oysters here were HUGE and will make you full. That was my mistake the first day because we ordered 4 dozen. After the 28th one, I couldn’t do it anymore. But that was okay, I still came back the next day for a few more oysters. Besides the amazing oysters, they also had crawfish for $ 5/lb. It was crawfish season so they were large and juicy. They were seasoned very well. We also had escargot which had some buttery flavouring. That was delicious. Their gumbo and unlimited bread were good too in case you wanted more food. I will come back to this restaurant whenever I am back in the area. Love this place!

I like coming here in the evenings, because it has $ 0.50 oysters and $ 3 wine during happy hour. There’s an artist who plays classic karaōke music on the piano(not a karaōke place FYI). The staff is always really nice and friendly. Watch out for Terry though! That guy promised me he was going to give me the super secret desert menu, but it was the bill! #YouGotMe

Where I fell in love with Chargrilled Oysters! THEAMBIANCE: Superior Seafood & Oyster Bar(«Superior») was our first dining experience and wow was it amazing. First off, we had reservations at 9pm but we had to wait until almost 10pm to be seated so the management gave us a free drink for the inconvenience; we were a party of thirteen(13). I thought that was great customer service! The drinks and our moods were«great.» Superior is definitely upscale. The décor is a dark wood and it is lovely. THEFOOD: As noted, I fell in love with Chargrilled Oysters at Superior(½ dozen $ 13, dozen $ 21, grilled with garlic, herbs, butter and Parmesan and Romano cheeses). They are SO good. I honestly think I can eat two(2) platters of them and want more. The picture says it all. Just amazing. I also enjoyed some fresh oysters, which were on point in terms of freshness! Get both platters. Apart from the oysters I tried the Crawfish Cornbread($ 9.50) and the Fried Alligator($ 10.50, I had to). I have to say everything was delicious. Putting a fork through the cornbread was like putting a fork through a moist cake. The flavor was savory and you wanted to scoop up that sauce. The fried alligator was chewy and delicious. The sauce they have on the side definitely completes the plate so make sure you go dipping-happy.The birthday girl had the shrimp & grits(sautéed shrimp in a tasso cream sauce over Superior grits, $ 20) and I got to try some. It was delicious and one of Superior’s favorite dishes. I posted a photo of this as well. THETIPS: For birthdays the birthday boy/girl gets a piece of chocolate cake with a vanilla ice cream ball. Happy Birthday, Maria! We love you! And thank you Superior for a dinner I will remember!

Coming from the East Coast, you may find gulf coast oysters to be GIGANTIC and not nearly as briny/salty/delicious. In retrospect, now I understand why the woman next to me was removing her raw oysters from their shells with her fork and bathing them in cocktail sauce before consuming them and chasing the taste with a mouthful of saltine crackers. That said, the service at the bar was incredibly friendly(we spoke for a while with the GM), the Pimm’s Cups were delicious, and the crawfish cornbread is not to be missed.

The fried drum was really solid and was a great combo with the mashed potatoes and spicy gravy. I also tried my friends catfish dish and the stuffed shrimp one, with each being fairly tasty as well. Still, the zing of the gravy and the fine fish would probably have me still pick my dish. Our service was abysmally slow because our waiter was also in charge of a birthday party of like 20. I don’t fault him for this, since dealing with a large table is super hard, but the front of the house should have assigned a different waiter to us. There were a number of waiters who were more-less standing around, and even checked in to see if we’d been helped so the capacity was there but it was misused. I’m not really having that reflected in my review since I doubt this is a recurring problem and the food was still good.

Superior Seafood has an amazing happy hour that runs 4:00 — 6:30 pm offering ½ price raw oysters, and ½ price frozen cocktails. I’m particularly fond of the frozen mimosas. The staff is always pleasant, and the oyster shucker is friendly and talkative. And the oysters? Yes, please!

This place has great service and great food. We had the chargrilled, bienville & rockafellar oysters — they were delicious. The shrimp vieux carre was good, but could have had a Little more flavor. Tried the blood and sand cocktail and it was made right! Great taste. Our server was very friendly and knowledgeable. We Enjoyed our experience here & would definitely recommend it.

I usually write more but I have written several updates before this so I am keeping it short and sweet. I went to happy hour with Aaron M. specifically to get some raw oysters for $ 6 /dozen. The place was quite busy but we only waited about two minutes for a seat. The oysters do take a bit longer than you would expect to come out but we were both enjoying a frozen pomegranate mojito so it wasn’t too bad. I am giving one additional star because I was very impressed with my experience overall and the oysters were outrageously good, even better than usual.

I had reservation and we were quickly seated. The staffs were nice and attentive. Char grilled oysters(5⁄5) — Perfection! I tried two other places in NOLA, and this place has by far the best char grilled. Raw oysters(5⁄5) Fried alligators(3.5÷5) Crabmeat stuffed mushroom(4⁄5) Scallops(5⁄5) — It was heaven! Frozen mimosa(5⁄5)
