This is a perfectly calm Uptown parade. The weather was just absolutely perfect this year to enjoy a nice Uptown parade on a Sunday Afternoon. The throws are a bit under average for an Uptown parade(mostly beads) but then again we are in a recession and overall this year I haven’t seen the level of throws at parades that I would normally expect. The bands were great in between and the crowds were totally calm by Uptown parade standards. Everyone around us wasn’t crowded or fighting for beads, which made for a great parade experience(other than the lack of throws). We did get some cups though I feel thats standard with parades, we have walked away with a cup from every parade we have attended this season. Catch of the parade: A stuffed Mardi Gras colored jester bear History: Founded in 1924, Carrollton has a long-standing tradition of rolling exactly at its designated time. Carrollton is the Fourth oldest Carnival parading organization, behind(in order) Rex, Proteus, and Zulu, according to the group’s website.
