The place is humble and nice. Good prices. Nice bartenders. But there are stupid rednecks that claim to be friends of the manager that might spoil your night. Violent drunk assholes that think they are nice. Morons. If the manager tell to his stupid friends to stay away from his work, actually, if the manager be at the bar, probably this could be the best bar in Broadmoor. But probably they have to take business more seriously.

Cheap beer and free bar games. There is free ping pong. This place is the bees knees.

Meh. The location is good for grabbing a couple drinks before a ballgame at Turchin(or Yulman now too I guess). But the place is small, smoky, and bland. The bartender working the last time I was there took forever to get to me, but my drink was still pretty solid. I just didn’t like smelling like smoke after only 5 minutes in the place.

This is where your grandmother/father would have met for drinks back in the day. Fortunately for us, Roberts’ Bar and Liquor Store is still here! The ‘tenders work hard, the music is mildly loud but not obstructive, and their diverse clientele make for great conversation. They have ping-pong, billiards, video poker, and a plethora of booze choices. But what separates this place from others is their rotating happy hour. «If you’re down on your luck /and ya’ only got a buck /go to Roberts’…» Forgive me for not remembering specifics, Lord knows I should off the top of my head, but what I do remember is walking out of their on my lips for around $ 10.00 everytime — you read that right, TEN friggin’ bucks. The bar’s décor is bland but who gives a sh*t after a few shots. It feels like you’re drinking in your buddy’s basement after all. The only thing missing is drunk uncle Bob’s horrible cover band and bean bag chairs. No live music here, but the digital jukebox, which boasts to have over one-million songs, should serve your musical cravings precisely. Geaux to Roberts especially if you live in the area. You just might catch your boss or co-worker debating with students from Loyola and Tulane on world hunger — or not. You’ll certainly catch a buzz however. See ya’ at Roberts’!

Bartenders are prompt, nice, and easy-going. It’s a great place to go with good friends to just sit and play pool or even ping pong, which are both free. It is usual not crowded and the bar is well lit, without being over-lit. I love this bar.

If you’re down on your luck with only a buck, this is the place to come. $ 10 and you’ll drink like a king. Extended happy hours everything is basically free! Monday night special everything. Challenge a friend to a game of pool and hit up the jukebox !

Y’all, Smoky B plays for keeps. I’m not about to ping-pong unless there is a bloodwager. I have met my match many times at Robert’s, and love to come here for the steep competition on the green field of plastic ball glory. Quick notes — daily specials at Robert’s, and they accept cash, credit cards, and possum pelts. I think that Monday night features all the specials, which enables me to spend an entire week at Robert’s in one night. This place is a gift. Do yourself a favor and enter the monthly ping pong tournament. I usually win at least one round on intimidation alone(an elaborate dance involving hot bath salts, everclear, and a blood offering to the goddess Slaugther). I couldn’t find this answer on the survey, but this place is definitely bath salts friendly.

Pretty chill spot. It’s very bare bones in terms of décor and amenities but I like its kind of thrown-together quality. Despite proximity to Tulane it seems to be annoying-frat-boy-cliché free. They also have good drink specials every day of the week.

4⁄5 wow. great neighborhood bar. a couple of coworkers showed me this place. i wouldn’t have found it on my own, it’s right by the papa john’s. it’s a small place where the door opens into a bar stool, so be careful as you enter. you can select music, $ 2 bucks gets you 7 credits(that’s a 1 credit bonus, buddy) and chances are you’ll have enjoyed several drinks before your song(s) come(s) on. pool and pingpong, and the first night i went there were donuts, a chocolate cake, and pizza on this other communal table. how awesome. i love how it’s definitely a family of folks who run through, and i think a bar with that kind of character is fantastic. it almost felt like a movie. that scene where they’re in this bar that only they know, and the world didn’t matter. that’s how this place kinda is.

This is a pretty grungy dive bar and seems to get more smokey than the average dive joint. They have a big clientele of pool and ping pong fans here. There seems to always be an overly serious game of pool going on so you have to tread lightly when passing by the table. Some of the drinks seem decently priced but then others seem out of whack. I only seem to end up here when I get dragged by my friends as I hate the smokiness of the place. There always seem to be an above average number of people looking really rough and grungy in here like they have been awake for many days. So there are always some interesting characters in this joint that will be really happy to talk to you.

Great neighborhood bar with great prices. They have different nightly specials such as $ 1.50 abita and $ 2 absolute. Mondays are all specials. There’s free pool and ping pong. They host a big ping pong tournament through 1st Tuesday of every month.

Robert’s is a great little bar right by Tulane’s campus. The drinks are cheap, the pool and ping pong are free, and the crowd is a cool mix of surly old men and drunk college students. The ambiance is simple, the bar unassuming, and the trip absolutely worth it.

Cheap drinks, nice folks, and a vibe that is neither pretentious nor obnoxious. A truly great Uptown bar. They also have an internet jukebox that takes plastic, plus pool, ping pong, video poker, and most importantly pinball. Don’t forget to check out the specials!

Robert’s is my kinda bar. And my kinda bar is the kind where I can go to after school, after the gym, after a nice dinner, after anything, and have a cheap drink while chatting with random people who you would never speak to in any other avenue of life. Yes, I do have friendships that have spawned from my many whiskey and diets at Robert’s. I first came to Robert’s to because I lived nearby and enjoy playing ping pong. After repeated visits, sometimes over consecutive nights, Robert’s became my «home» bar of NOLA. The bar where I go to when I’m pissed, when I am in a school-coma, or when I feel like drinking outside of the home without looking presentable. The bar where I know the bartenders and their weekly schedules both at Robert’s and the other bars they work at. After I moved to a different neighborhood, I still continued to frequent this bar. An underrated gem in NOLA, Robert’s is my Cheers.

If not for the fact that there’s a ping pong table at Robert’s, this is probably not somewhere I’d go hang out. However, they DO have a table, it’s relatively well-kept as far as bar tables go, and the inexpensive drinks are an added bonus. Therefore, Robert’s is one of my favorite uptown bars. There is a pool table, as well, and people seem to be there to actually play rather than screw around, so there’s almost always a fun, competitive vibe surrounding Robert’s bar sports. This is definitely true for ping pong, and as far as I can tell it’s the same for pool players. One caveat, though: since people come to Robert’s with the express intention of playing ping pong, there’s usually a line for next game, and the last few times I’ve been there we’ve had an unreasonably hard time keeping track of who’s next. You have to pay attention if you call next game, because you’ll definitely get skipped, and if you attempt to assert yourself, you’ll probably piss somebody off who’s also been waiting and got skipped. My solution was to start writing it down on paper, but this wasn’t a permanent fix. That said, the people at Robert’s are really nice, and I’ve met some of the regulars who play ping pong. For whatever reason the last few times I’ve been there, somebody got bitchy about«who’s where on the next game queue» and therefore it came to mind when I started writing this review. I’ve heard there’s some kind of ping pong tournament at Robert’s either once a week or once a month. They also do movie nights, apparently, as I seem to have walked in on one of these at least once. They also often have what appears to be free food, but you’d have to check with the bar to find out actual schedule/details for all of this. Overall, Robert’s is just your average, smoky dive bar with pretty minimal seating. But, they have a ping pong table, which alone makes this one of the best bars uptown. If you’re into ping pong, of course.

Like an old man bar without any old men. Most of the patrons were 25 or 30, but going on 70. Tremendously strong and cheap drinks served up in a terrible environment. Not terrible because the patrons are mean. Terrible because it looks like a bar set up in a YMCA rec room. The ping pong table and billiards literally half the bar. Very close to my house and quite affordable, so I might start coming here more often.

When you take a cab across town to get to a bar before close, arrive half an hour before closing time, and see people in said bar, you assume you’re going to have time for at least one drink. Well, not if it’s Robert’s Bar. In that case, even if it’s Mardi Gras and everyone in the city is having a good time and staying open even later than ususal, you can expect to not be let in. Don’t wast your time here. There’s plenty of better dive/cheap/neighborhood bars in the area.
