I would so much rather support a local business rather than Michael’s, etc. because these people actually know their stuff. I have taken my grandmother here to get supplies and she has been out of the painting game for about 40 years. That didn’t hinder our shopping trip. We were helped from the moment we arrived and my grandma was able to find the oil and supplies she needed. On our second visit, the wonderful gentleman even assembled an easel we purchased. They are out of things time to time, but so far, it hasn’t been too much of an inconvenience. Just give them a call to check on inventory.

Amazing little art supply store. They have really comprehensive mix of pro and kid friendly supplies. My little dude and I had a great time strolling the aisles and he even scored a piece of candy. We’ll be back for some rainy day painting activities in their shop for sure!

An Art store can be a lot of fun for someone like me. This one is a great place to let your creative mind wander. The service was impeccable, knowledgeable, and included pertinent information without being too pushy. The items I bought were of outstanding quality. As an update, when I went they were in the new next door larger building. It seems the problem mentioned in older reviews of them running out of supplies has been solved.

I’ve really tried loving this place. but after a few visits, and finding out that they’re out several times, it get annoying. I’ve just started calling ahead to see if they have that supply(they don’t). I’ve just turned to a different place for my supplies.

I just picked up a few things but the staff seemed friendly enough. However, I was told they do not have a student discount. Selection seemed decent for the size of building they were in.

An excellent family run arts store, and fairly cheap in New Orleans prices. As a architecture student, i’m usually buying chipboard/canvas/blades/random pens and pencils, which all seem to be fairly cheap. However, they are notorious for running out of architecure/art supplies during finals, so always be sure to call ahead. The couple who runs the place is very friendly– make sure to sign up on their mailing list for huge discounts(75%!)
This is the better of the Forstall’s. Decent prices on everything, i guess, even though all new orleans art supplies are more expensive than in larger markets for some reason. Helpful, knowledgeable staff.
