Went to Redfish for lunch with a group of coworkers. The waitstaff is very friendly and attentive. Caleb was great. The atmosphere was good and it was easy to find on Bourbon St. I ordered the Signature Grilled Redfish and Crabmeat. It was just ok. For a signature dish I expected it to have more flavor. It wasn’t worthy of great praise. The fish was warm but a few of the potatoes on the platter were cold. Overall I would give them another try but if I didn’t I wouldn’t feel that I was missing out on an awesome experience.

The food was good but not exceptional. I had the whitefish with creole sauce, wanting to try something creole. Not a favorite of the creole sauce used(seemed to lack spice). I did try the BBQ Oysters, a signature item, and they were fantastic! Good place is you are hungry for fish and local fare.

Went with friends the evening we arrived in New Orleans. It was raining, we could walk from our hotel to the restaurant and we had picked up a voucher for a free bottle of wine earlier in the day so it was not a difficult decision. Friend and I had the Black Drum Fish which was new to me and delicious. Other friend had a vegetable pasta dish with a cream sauce. Unfortunately, the cream sauce did not arrive but the waiter soon fixed it and she said it was lovely. I decided to try the Bananas Foster Ice Cream Cake for pudding. It looked yummy and then they poured rum over it and set fire to it. Boy was it alcoholic, hic hic, but soooooo good. It looked and tasted so good my friends decided to help be eat it! No problem, it was big enough to go round

Food is ok. I think this restaurant is over rated. I was at a company event with a fixed-menu. Filet mignon — asked for Med-rare and they gave me rare. Barely seared. It was tasteless, could have used more seasoning. Salad was good. Desserts so, so. My team didn’t like the fish(not sure what they ordered). Appetizer selection was good. For the price, quality can be better.

I visited their other restaurant in downtown disney and ended up writing a complaint letter(actually printed and snail mailed) to the owner on the incredibly bad quality(and till this date I never set a foot into that place again). Then I ended up at Red Fish one and it was the VERY opposite experience! We had to wait a little for our table on the 1⁄1 but thats expected. The waiters in the bar area were very attentive. The waiters at the tables were very attentive. If we were just looking for something one of the waiters would try to help out. The food was outstanding, the deserts were amazing. They were sadly out of Bloody Marys, likely due to everyone arriving with a hang over from 12⁄31.

The best part of this restaurant was the barbecued oysters. other than that, it was mostly just overpriced and full of tourists. They brought out my boyfriend the wrong fish dish and then charged our bill for the $ 32 mistake rather than his $ 18 dish he ordered. It turned into a huge pain in the butt for us to deal with. There are better places in the city to get seafood. Save your money for something better.

I chose RFG because of reviews and the ability to get a reservation through opentable. We had two other families with us and were in town for the Sugar Bowl. We arrived a few minutes early and were given a number and asked to wait in the bar. They have a monitor in the corner that shows a reservation number and you watch for yours. We ordered drinks, and our table was ready before they arrived — so maybe a 9 – 10 minute wait on a very busy night and with us being early. That was nice. I had a Redfish lemonade made with rum. It was ok but tasted more like sour mix than lemonade to me. Three had Ultras and were told those were the last available ones(it was 4:45 so they ran out early.) We ordered a dozen of the bbq oysters and our meals. The oysters were not what was expected, but were good. They were lightly fried and put in shells like raw oysters are served. I don’t know if the blue cheese sauce was forgotten or just very, very minimal as there was no taste of blue cheese and none apparent on the oysters. For meals — three had shrimp and grits, one had chicken, one steak, and two had the crab cake. The waitress strongly recommended the crab cake, so I was one of the two that chose that. The food came out quickly especially given the crowd — maybe 10 – 15 minutes. The crab cake was one fat hamburger patty sized cake on a bed of what we thought were a sundried tomato mix, sprinkled with very thin slices of fried potato. After checking the menu, I realized it was a «cabbage choucroute». Apparently it’s a kind of braised sauerkraut. It tasted picklish and strongly flavored(again I would swear it was sun dried tomatoes). It grew on me but I couldn’t eat much or it drowned out the crab cake, which was quite good and had little breading. The cabbage detracted from the delicate crab cake taste, which was a bummer. The mustard sauce was completely absent on both of these meals. The potatoes were an unusual addition — just added a little crunch. I think the crab cake dish could be reworked with sides that were more complementary, and it would be a solid 4 stars. As is, it was kind of odd and rather expensive for the serving size and accompaniments. Those that had the shrimp and grits seemed to like it. It was spicy but good. The steak was also well received. The chicken was fried and a strange cut — not sure exactly what the pieces were — but it was fine, also. The servings were not very large but were filling enough. The place is as many reviewers have described — a little loud and busy, but still nice. We were a little disappointed in general with the food, so I felt kind of bad that I had offered to pick the place. Be forewarned — the menu is all seafood except the boudin balls, fried chicken, and steak. It’s a pretty small menu so review it first and make sure everyone in your group has something they can order. Service was fine for a busy night. We had to ask for refills and for our check, but it was acceptable. NOLA has so many great places, and this one just didn’t quite hit the mark.

We made reservations and were seated immediately. It’s been a while since I’ve been to a restaurant that has respected and honored that to their customers! The bread appetizers come out in a paper bag, which seems out of place in a nice, sit-down bag. It was soft and warm. All of the fish orders are $ 27 but it feels you ate $ 27 worth of delicious seafood. The listed dressings always come on the side so you can flavor the fish to your preference. The pompano with lemon butter was absolutely divine. I asked for more brussel sprouts with my vegetables. I didn’t get what I wanted but the vegetables were good. Their infamous bread pudding takes 45 minutes to make. Therefore, you must commit early and order it once you’re seated. The dessert comes out with ice cream on top and they pour chocolate syrup all over it, as if 2 pounds of sugar wasn’t enough. This has been my favorite restaurant during my stay in NOLA. The staff was professional and attentive, and the food was excellent.

The food and the service was excellent! I recommend making reservations for this restaurant and BEONTIME. We went last night on a Wednesday with a party of six. Had we not made reservations we would have waited over an hour! I had the raw oysters to start. They were fresh and a great flavor! Horseradish was ver fresh with a great zing! We also had the Alligator Boudin Balls which were so good. My entrée was the grilled redfish from the fresh fish board. I had the ginger sauce which complimented the fish so well. And to top it off, the double delectable, double goodness, double chocolate bread pudding which you have to order in advance with your meal… DOIT! I’m not a dessert person and I have stomach issues from eating Gluten but sometimes you just gotta try the signature dish. We shared one among six people and it was more than enough. It’s very rich and saucy with a wonderful flavor that explodes in your mouth! Our waiter, Cam, was awesome. We had one person in our party who had more than enough to drink in NOLA’s drink all day till you drop bars. He took great care of our friend. I totally recommend Redfish Grill and cannot understand anyone giving it a bad review! Maybe they just had a bad day!!!

Redfish is still the same after all these years and that makes me very, very happy! We HAD to order the BBQ oysters. Sooooo delicious. If you haven’t had them yet… they are a must! You will not be disappointed! In fact I think they were actually better than I remember them!

It’s fine enough for a chain. The gumbo is solid, BBQ shrimp is fine. Cocktails are good. The service was the best part, also being in an entire room of rowdy New Yorkers cheering for the Mets during the series. We all seemed to decide to come into town at the same time. Our waiter Kevin was awesome, kept us laughing the entire time and made sure we had everything we needed, sweet guy. Ask to sit in his section if you’re there!

First off, our server Jasmine was awesome! So this was our second day in town and everywhere we’ve been to eat or stop and have a drink, service was terrible. Shuttle driver was texting while driving. Bartender was sarcastic about explaining what was in a certain drink. Five girls standing around couldn’t help to check us out. Ugh! But not at Red Fish Grill. I called and made a reservation earlier in the day. When we arrived, we were seated right away. Our server Jasmine acknowledged us right away. She was attentive without hovering. She has a pleasant personality and took the time to explain some of the items to us. We asked for her recommendations on our meal and she was spot on. We had the alligator sausage gumbo. Cheese grits. Petite fillet on top of mashed potatoes and topped with lump crab. Also the grilled red fish topped with grilled shrimp and lump crab. For dessert we had the bananas foster cake. Everything was fabulous! Food and service!

Finally some southern hospitality — when a waiter spills beer all over you, you get stuff! YES — we were comped an appetizer, and drinks. Yes, it made up for it, but overall, the food was tasty, but again, nothing I’d return for. There are very few options near bourbon street for food, it’s mostly strip clubs and hurricane takeout. If you must go here, try the BBQ’d oysters.

Stopped in on a recommendation of a friend. Had their alligator balls and fried oysters. Delicious! Great drinks-had my first sazerac and found my new drink! Great fun atmosphere. Wonderful service! Right at the beginning of Bourbon Street so stop in here first to get the ball rolling!

The Grilled Red Fish with the crab was five stars alone. Its one of the better dishes Ive had in the FQ. Cooked to perfection and packed with lots of flavor, and those grill marks… Just fantastic! The shrimp and grits was also delish, not as good as the ones I had at Royal House, but still respectable… the chips on top was a nice touch also. BBQ Oysters was another great dish, its the perfect starter. So no need to think twice there. The service was tops as well. Very friendly, attentive, and prompt. Solid top to bottom. The restaurant was very busy and very loud, but that was expected. Just an FYI as Im sure this can be a deal breaker for some looking for something more on the private side. The atmosphere is a bit on the casual side. Nice décor all around. Prices are typical for the FQ, in other words… Not cheap. Red Fish is ideal for most just about any occasion. Just take note that there is such a thing as a Birthday tax charge. Something like 11%. This was new to me. So beware. Red Fish Grill was a nice experience overall.
