It is a great shop. The smell of pralines is inbeded in the walls. And the staff was nice to me.

I’m no PRAYLEEN expert but it’s good! Idk if 2.50 per praline is a deal or not but I have nothing bad to say about the experience & I purchased a box. Good pralines. There are samples available. I ended up getting traditional and coffee flavored. The chocolate one wasn’t that good to me. The shop is nice, staff is friendly. Again, I really can’t say anything bad.

Ok say it with me ya’ll… ‘PRAWLEENS’. Very good. Now get your tuckus over to Pralines by Jean and stock up on all sorts of goodies. Cupcakes, Kingcakes, Mardi Gras accoutrement, and several flavors of her famous pralines. Jean herself is friendly as the day is long and full of great local lore. It was a pleasure to chat with her and hang in her adorable shop. Im still licking my fingers!

Delicious, fresh, buttery, preservative-free pralines! I bought my family a box of Jean’s pralines for Christmas and they were a huge hit. Her store was pretty wiped out(a good sign!) but I was able to purchase the last box of small pralines. Jean reminded me to make sure the pralines were eaten within 7 days and not to refrigerate them. Not a problem because they were eaten right away! The shorter shelf-life of the candies may be tough for people looking to ship these to friends and family out of state, but if you’re looking for the real thing stop by Jean’s!

Cute little store on St. Charles boasting pralines and cupcakes. A few tourists gifts mixed in, it was the pralines that caught my eye. Jeans makes their pralines fresh daily. The choices available the day I stopped in included original, chocolate or coffee. There was a sample plate out to try the different flavors available. I was there for just original, authentic pralines so I bought two to go and a little tourist gift for my daughter. The cupcakes on display were miniature works of art. I was tempted but since I was just there for the pralines, I skipped the cupcakes. The owner Jean waited on me answering questions and her two children were also in the store cleaning and helping. Let’s talk about the pralines. WOW! Fresh, melt in your mouth, sugary goodness. Somewhere my dentist was shuttering while I munched this authentic sugary southern treat. My hubby tried them with me and said«hello sugar!» at the first bite. The nuts were crunchy and fresh taking the sugar down to a more mellow level. If you’re in the Garden District stop in and get your praline fix!

BEST PRAW-leens in the city(and best I have ever had!)!!! Say it right in NOLA! I love their chocolate ones the best. They use no preservatives(so no funky chemical taste), and they have just the right amount of everything. The original and coffee flavors are delicious as well. Just the right amount of pecans. The store itself is in a great easy-to-find spot on St. Charles, and they have other sweet confections as well as gift items. You can tell this place is loved by locals and tourists alike(and celebrities too). Jean is just as wonderful as her treats. It is a great treat to even talk to her!

NOTONESOURPECANIN3PRALINES! You know how when you’re trustingly chomping down on a Loretta’s or an Aunt Sally’s and then you hit a bite of acrid repulsiveness, an acerbic nutty bitch slap? Not at Jean’s. I think the woman must hand-sort the stones like red beans before a boil. And then there’s the incomparable caramel which is light and not syrupy. BEAUTIFULPRESENTATION: the Tiffany Blue & clear plastic jewel boxes add to the élan of these desserts. Even the shop is a pleasant mix of both the refined hand crafted gems and a funky New Orleans kitsch. BEST $ 7GIFTINTHECITY: the 5 mini-praline assortment of traditional, chocolate & coffee(and in that beautiful packaging). Ask for a pink candle if it’s a birthday!

It’s not just pralines… but it could be, because these sugary/nutty/creamy delights are good enough to stand on their own! Whenever I have visitors in town seeking the classic NOLA confection, I bring them to Jean’s. Unlike some of the shops in the Quarter, Jean makes her pralines on the premises. That is, she doesn’t get them from some factory where they grind ‘em out by the hundreds(and put in nasty extra cheapo ingredients). And you can totally notice the difference that a little bit of love and care for the final product makes! She sources all of the ingredients locally. Jean is a saint of sweets! Besides pralines, however, there’s also a bunch of fun NOLA souvenirs that you can add in with the pralines to make quite the gift basket(there’s all kinds of pretty vessels to choose from). Anything from Saints merch to Mardi Gras accoutrements(parasols, anyone?) and trinkets. A lot of awesome packed into this little shop. All of that and you may even get to chat it up with the proprietress herself(she’s so helpful and fun to talk to… in between all of that she may have to run back and make another batch. And you know that spells F-R-E-S-H! I hope that you, too, bring your visitors here for souvenirs and if you’re a tourist in town, please pretty please support a locally-owned family biz like this one!

You say«potato», I say«patattah» You say«tomato», I say«tomata» You say«praw-leen», I say pray-leen… Oh… that’s not how the song goes? Well, either way, I did learn from Jean herself, that in New Orleans, they do indeed say praw-leen. I stopped by this sweet(literally) store with some work colleagues earlier this week and had the most pleasant visit. Not only did we walk out with pralines, but we enjoyed our conversation with Jean and her daughter and got a little bit of a praline education while we were there. Jean makes the pralines daily(and cupcakes too), using local Louisiana grown pecans, sugar, heavy cream from a local dairy, butter and vanilla. They come in three flavors: traditional, coffee, and chocolate. I’m bias toward the traditional, but you can’t go wrong, I’m sure. They are out of this world! She also carries king cakes, cookie cutters, cards, and a variety of some other miscellaneous gifts. No matter the pronunciation, this place is worth a visit!

Cute, locally owned store we passed while on a cable car. Staff was so nice. We had a coffee praline cookie, it was so tasty & fresh! They’re fresh, no preservatives so they don’t hold more than a week. They also have cupcakes & little knick knacks.
